background:

Agna was born in a small mine, but it was quickly seen that mining was not her path. Frankly she was terrible at it. But she had shown an aptitude for magic at an early age. After a time (her father was certain she was just being stubborn about the bad mining) she was apprenticed to a doddering old dwarf mage. There she learned the power of rune and spell, and she quickly gained strength. To the point that even her father admitted that she had talent. By spell casters are a mistrusted lot amongst the dwarves, and she found herself ostracised by many in the mine.
This bothered her, when former friends turned away. Old telgar, her teacher explained that was the way of it, Anga was not impressed by the argument. She continued her studies and decided, if she was effective against a foe of the dwarves, maybe then she could be accepted. Goblins, no, Orcs, yuck, drow, ah no. Dragons, no. Giants…Giants would do. She would discover the secrets of giants. Then she would have value, and be accepted.
Show she studied them, the histories of the dwarves and their enemies, especially giants. After a time, she gathered her gear and left for a place she knew from her studies giants would be. Trunan, in the orc lands. It was still free, and giants were said to be there.
