Round Eight
Now surrounded Uruthash tries to take out the over-sized dragon-like humanoid that is in his way. But none of the big Stone Giant's attacks strike Kaos.
Kaos tries to return the favor, but with the same results. None of Kaos' attacks were effective against this over-powered Stone Giant.
Leira and her Lantern Archon head up the stairs. The Lantern Archon fires a beam that strikes the Stone Giant. But Leira's precise attack bounces off the Stone Giant's skin. Leira will recognize that this Stone Giant's skin has a magical covering making him even harder to hit.
Anga, Haskyll and Ragnir all double-time it up the stairs.
Ulfgard moves up and attacks. He lands a solid blow against the Stone Giant with Agrimmosh. Ulfgard will note that the blow should have caused more damage than it did.
Droja tries to hold the Stone Giant, but her attempt was unsuccessful.

Mazra's BBEG |

Uruthash changes his tact and tries to simply hit the dragon-like humanoid in his way. Kaos was able to hastily dodge the Stone Giant's next blow. But the big Stone Giant was able to hit Kaos on its next, but misses the rebound.

GM Mazra |

Leira and the party will note that Urathash's large warhammer radiated magic. The Stone Giant had a large bag at his side that also radiated magic. And then under his breastplate the giant Inquisitor wore a large sash that also radiated magic.
There were many things in the level below that will get the party's attention. But it is the level above that will take priority.
Leira carefully advances up the stairs. She does not see any traps. When she gets to the next level, she sees carved into center of the floor of this chamber the symbol of a mountain and a giant anvil. Mystic runes painted with a fine, glittering dust sprinkled over what appears to be blood encircle the carving. Six iron cages stand in a circle around the floor carving, interspersed with stone braziers burning small coke fires scented with smoldering pine cones. A few tables holding a variety of iron implements stand against the walls nearby. The walls are windowless and covered with lines of carved text. Staircases at opposite ends of the room lead to floors above and below. The smell of death is strong in the room.
Three of the cages contain gaunt and mutilated humans, each one curled into a fetal position. Long strips of flesh and muscle have been torn from the corpses. Three of the cages still contain living people all humans. Two seem to be conscious. The other is breathing but unconscious.
Previously, Leira was able to see that the warhammer is magic, but a weak magic. It is a large +1 Warhammer.
She will also be able to identify the bag. It is vast and weighs 200 lbs.
BOULDER BAG

This immense bag is always full of hefty, good-sized rocks and can be carried over the shoulder or on the belt of a large or larger creature, though doing so does not take up an item slot. On command as a swift action, a large or larger creature wearing the boulder bag can reach into the bag and pull out a rock two size categories smaller than itself that is suitable for use of the rock throwing ability (Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 303). No matter how many rocks are taken out, the bag never empties.
Neither Leira or Kaos was able to identify the sash.

I will hold on to the hammer for now if that's okay. But the bag well it would be good for someone that could become large on command. Anga would you like to take a look at this sash.

GM Mazra |

Leira opens the locked cages.
One of the humans look at Leira, "Thank you. I thought we were dead. Need water. I am a prospector. Name is Rufus. Rufus Jonbat."
The conscious one looks at Leira, "Yes. Thank you. I too am a prospector. I was panning for gold when the dragon swooped down and took me. Tamas Bergald's the name. The other..." He tries to collect his thoughts while point to the unconscious one, "The other was out when the put him in the cage. Villager by the looks."
Both of them will relay that they hadn't had any food or water for many days. They are both near unconsciousness, and then shortly after, death would have taken them. They both would have been dead within a day.

![]() |

Kaos in this most human appearance will offer them some rations and water.
This is all I have for now. Why are you here? What were they using you for?

GM Mazra |

Rufus Jonbat looks at Kaos as he drinks some water, "I was captured near Shimmerman's Fortune, along with several others. We were brought here too by the dragon. He pauses and points up, "It is at the top of the tower." Rufus takes another drink of water and continues, "But why we are here, I don't know. It is madness. It is as if the giants were ridding the region of anything not giant. We have been tortured. The big Stone Giant asked us where the human villages were located. Where there may be Dwarven settlements or even Elves, Gnomes, any that are not giant-kind. Those that died from the torture were fed to these hideous two-headed vultures. I thought I was next."

Leira |

"We have more food and water outside" Leira is happy to discover the group was able to safe some of the prisoners, but her face grimes as the conversation advances "A dragon?! Wait! What are the color of its scales?"

Leira |

Arcana: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Leira gets unnerved "Fire. Plenty of fire..." and looking to Haskyll "Given some minutes to prepare, I can give all of us some resistance to its breath, or I can make one dwarf to fly, I do not know if Torag can grant some extra protection in this case"
Spending her remaining magical power Leira can cast a communal resistance to fire or fly, but not both, if you with to hit the dragon now

Haskyll Stonereaver |

I am thinking that we will need a bit of time to rest, but I got just the thing.
Haskyll quickly stabilizes the injured, then offers both food and water. Then he roots in his bag and finds a scroll.
Ah yes, this is the one that I prepared a while ago for these reasons, but protection from the red, Lass, Torag, can provide protections, so do not stress yourself.
Now, where can we rest for a couple of hours that we can close off and be safe ?
As I am affectively out of spells, I am planning to use this scroll to get us ready.
NAP Stack
School necromancy
Level cleric 3
Casting Time 1 minute
Components V, S, M (a little silk pillow worth 100 gp)
Range 30 ft.
Area 30-ft.-radius emanation
Duration 8 hours
Saving Throw Will negates (harmless); Spell Resistance yes (harmless)
You reduce the amount of uninterrupted sleep or rest creatures within the spell’s area need in order to recover from injuries, regain spells, or other special abilities to 2 hours instead of the normal eight. In addition, if creatures continue to sleep or rest beyond the initial 2 hours, every additional 2 hours counts as a day of rest for the purpose of recovering hit points, ability damage, as well as for enduring diseases, poisons, or other afflictions. This means 8 total hours of sleep counts as 4 days for natural healing and for saving throws as diseases or similar afflictions run their course. When suffering from diseases, poison, or other afflictions, sleepers experience vivid dreams that help them track their recovery. If things go poorly they can, at any time, wake themselves up in order to seek a better alternative. If awoken or otherwise disturbed during this 8-hour period, creatures may return to sleep but they no longer enjoy the benefits of the accelerated recovery time. Creatures can only enjoy
the benefits of this spell once in any 1-week period.

I was thinking we loot this level and the one below. Then head to the Under Forge. I was also thinking about all thoughts giants out side. Haskyll will be able to determine the qualities of the sash.
BANE BALDRIC
PRICE 10,000 GP
AURA moderate conjuration CL 10th WEIGHT 1 lb.
This ornate sash of embroidered velvet stretches across the chest from shoulder to waist. If the wearer is an inquisitor, she is treated as five levels higher when using her bane and greater bane abilities. If the wearer is not an inquisitor, she gains the bane ability of a 5th-level inquisitor, but must first attune a light or one-handed melee weapon to the baldric by hanging it from the cloth for 24 hours, and can only use the bane ability with the attuned weapon. Attuning a new weapon to the baldric ends the attunement for the previous weapon.
There was nothing of value in the Inquisition Room of the tower.
In addition to the magic found on Urathash you find a large masterworks breastplate, a cold iron dagger, a plain steel dagger, a silver dagger, a set of masterworks artisan’s tools (armor and weapons), a spell component pouch, a stone unholy symbol of Minderhal, and 10 gp.
Two of the Stone Giants are unconscious, as is the Dire Bear. You will find on the Stone Giants the following:
105 pp, 240 gp, 180 sp
Various small Gems
Azurite (12 gp)
Bloodstone (50 gp)
Chrysoprase (50 gp)
Chrysoprase (55 gp)
Obsidian (12 gp)
Pyrite (10 gp)
Rock Quartz (9 gp)
Rock Quartz (10 gp)
Rock Quartz (13 gp)
In Urathash's chamber there are three stone coffers. Two hold mostly clothing and other personal affects that will be of no real value. However, a third stone coffer is locked.
What does the party do with the unconscious Stone Giants and Dire Bear? And then do you head down to the under forges area?

Droja |

Droja asks for some help dragging the Urathash's body to the center of the Inquisition Room.
She then cuts off Urathash's head. After the head is drained of blood, she will then drive her spear into the head from the center of the exposed neck.
The head is now impaled on her spear. She looks at the party, "We still have enemies in our midst. They need proof that their leader is dead."

Leira |

Leira observes Droja's crafting "Well... I am quite impressed myself Droja!"
"Ok, so we rest Haskyll. Good idea about that scroll you prepared! We can probably be ready before a full alarm has been raised" the girl looks at her own magical energies "We can go back to Etana's rooms, they can probably cover us there if we hide in a rope trick for the quick rest"
Leira will prepare fly instead of dispel magic or communal resist energy to help the group face the dragon.
"I know some electric bolt spell Anga, perhaps you can ready it from my spellbook if you are worried about facing the dragon with only fire"

Haskyll Stonereaver |

Haskyll blushes a bit from Leiras praise.
I prepared it on our last visit to a town. I guess now is a good as time as any to use it.
He then tosses the Baldric to Ulfgard.
I think it will be best used by you.
Haskyll then passes on the info on how to use it.
He applauds Djora's handiwork.
Aye, this is proof, but we might need the dragons head as well. I will provide bare healing to one of them, but only one. Leira, you can choose one of them to survive.
Liera, if you could be so kind as to unlock that coffer?
