Enquiring minds need to know.
But if I went around saying I was Viceroy, just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

It is no basis for a system of government. Obviously, giving a group of murderhobos a piece of paper saying they are the rulers is a much better plan of action!

... personally, I find the term "murderhobo" to be hurtful. I would rather people used "dispatching-transient".

It took everything in me not to have Gav shout, "Help! See the violence inherent of the system! Help! I'm being repressed!" When Vosil used dazzling display on Dregan and I at the crone's house.

Edric might well have proved your point by slapping the lot of you if that happened!

"Bloody peasant!"
Oh wait - I did use that one.
Anyway. Hope all concerned are enjoying a great Thanksgiving!

Naralesh |

Been busy for me too. Had a great Thanksgiving - met my boyfriend's entire extended family for the first time. That was exciting.
I love Dregan's response to "enchanting fey women." Get the earplugs and the blindfolds!

Old Guy GM |

So a quick note on the mysterious 'she' that I've been dropping hints about. They are just that: hints and ominous warnings. Clearly all the fey about are deathly afraid of her, and won't speak about it. If, by the grace of the gods we get to the end of this AP, you will know more than you wish to know about her.

Vosil Comarenza |

It's great foreshadowing! But does that mean we're not going to be able to find out anything about any other unfriendly types that might be around...?

Old Guy GM |

Absolutely not. Information about those will be forthcoming as it happens. As a matter of fact, you'll be hearing about that much sooner than you'd expect...
<cue evil laughter...>
EDIT: btw, its great you keeping asking about her with regards to the unicorn, because it gives opportunities to work in the foreshadowing. i just don't want anyone to get frustrated by the crypticness(?) of the responses.

Vosil Comarenza |

OGGM - just wanted to see if this went anywhere:
===================
Campfire
===================Talia beams at Vosil, snapping her fingers for emphasis as she talks. "That is a brilliant idea. Let's ask, shall we?"
Turning, she makes her way back to the explorer. "Master Narlthropple, may I enquire about your services? Perhaps, when you're done with your current expedition, you could assist the Viscounty of Fairhaven with our own surveying needs? What would your services cost?"
==========
Also, Concord has 3,500 people in it (and 1 house!) - presumably we wouldn't have to haul the felled coachwood trees back ourselves.

Old Guy GM |

Sorry, I thought I answered. Master Narthropple will agree to map the western edge of the Greenbelt if you subsidize his expedition, call it 3 BP. After he is done with the western edge, he is moving off further south and out of our game. Everything 'left' of Row B on Talia's map. Note that the number of hexes increases by row as you go further south just because of our hex-based world.
As far as the logs, think of it like the mining operations. Kingmaker doesn't require us to get into the grim logistical details, nor do I want to. Once you claim the hex and pay BP to set up operations, it just a matter of the collection of the extra BP.

Talia Khavortorov |

Will do. I'm traveling at the moment and don't have access to CC3 or CS5, so it will be a bit.

Great - I've marked 3 BP off the Kingdom sheet. I look forward to seeing Narthropple's map!

You might be jumping the gun on this, the BP expenditure needs to be done as part of the Kingdom activities for this month - unless that what you are going to do. (Claim this hex, etc)

Vosil Comarenza |

Get well soon!
OGGM: noted, I can rearrange the spreadsheet once we get to the kingdom turn for this month; I just wanted to input it so it doesn't get forgotten.

A tree? Trees... hmm...
*makes a knowledge check about trees*
Trees are... flammable, yes?
Dryads might be too... Even if not true probably wise not to mention in front of her

Ha: the fighter just out-rolled the wizard on a knowledge skill check - take that, stereotyping!

Vosil Comarenza |

It has a CMD of 27+?! Yikes.
Do I get an AoO, btw? I'm in reach.

Talia Khavortorov |

OK, catching up on the map. OGGM, can we consider Tyressia's Grove (a6) and the Bad Tree's hollow (b6) explored?
I added the coachwood trees to both A5 and A6 (but we'll only be claiming A5 as a resource, unless we want to make an enemy of Melianse).

Talia Khavortorov |

OK, map updated. I doubled its size and moved it to the right of the text on the sheet, because it is getting big.

Vosil Comarenza |

Just to say I'm loving the calendar, by the way.
Whoever is keeping that up to date: thank you! It is noted.

Talia Khavortorov |

That would be the esteemed GM. It is really useful - I use it all the time for my mapping. Thanks, OGGM!

Talia Khavortorov |

I'll be back online the 26th. Happy holidays, everyone!
I'm away from my desktop until about the 30th, so I won't be able to update the map until then, but I updated the comments to reflect the Belledame's lands.
When I do update the map: it will be swampy hills with a lake?
Narlthopple, check!

We have some loot to divvy up:
a pouch with a single dose of dust of illusion
a scroll of fly
Amber from scythe tree (2 left, Gav took another)
cloak of resistance +1
ring of protection +1
ring of feather falling
Goodberries (5)
Potions CMW (2)
Scroll SNA II
Wand of CLW (26 charges)
Who wants what? I think we should keep the wand as group treasure. Talia already has one, and can carry the other. If someone else can use it, we could spread the curing around a little.

Dregan Hirscherz |

Thanks for updating.
Scroll of SNA II should be sold we can't use it.
The ring of protection and probably the cloak should go to front liners that (he is still in debt to the party for his hammer)
I agree keep the wand, it'll get used.
I'd say keep the scroll of fly as party loot unless Nara wants to copy it in to his spell book.
Sell the potions of CMW as they are a bit small for in combat healing and I think. We have saved a couple previous potions for stabilising.
Anyone want a ring of feather fall?

![]() |

I'm probably fine without the cloak - divine grace bumps my saves unfairly anyway :) Also I won't get too much out of the ring since whenever I smite I have a higher deflection modifier, if anyone else wants/would benefit from them then they should have them first.
A ring of featherfall is a nice thing to have though... so unless anyone else wants that Edric will ask politely for it! :D

Vosil Comarenza |

OK, we need to hit a DC 31 Diplomacy check.
Talia has +14, which can go to +16 if someone casts Eagle's Splendour on her (if all else fails, we can buy a scroll). Asha can prepare any spell on the cleric's spell list - those councillors have been no &&&&ing use so far, time for them to pony up a bit.
That goes to +18 for an aid another (Gav has +11, so automatically succeeds on that unless he rolls a 1).
That still requires a 13 or better on the d20, though.
Any other thoughts? Can we splash around some money, make people talkative, get some bonuses that way?

Talia Khavortorov |

Talia can also reroll a diplomacy check twice per day (heraldic expertise archetype ability), and once per day roll twice on a diplomacy check and take the best result (inspired trait).
So, she'll roll twice and take the better, and if that is not good enough, she'll roll again, and if not, she's got one more shot at it.
I'm not sure if Asha has Eagle's Splendor prepared today, so that may or may not be an option.

![]() |

Edric will auto-pass the aid check as well so Taalia can get to a minimum of +18 just by having Gav and Edric help out. I'm assuming multiple aids will be permitted here, but if we're all looking then that makes sense. Honestly - if we can all aid then we'll end up looking at about a 7 or so, and the number of rolls Taalia can make at that I'd say our odds are better than we think.
Public appeal for information might help too - although we'll get a lot false lead we might be able to track down the right one... honestly I think a big aid is the best option.

Naralesh |

Apologies for not being active in posting, GM! I've been checking the thread but been a bit busy and Naralesh tends to fade into the background and let everyone else do the talking when it comes to investigations and the like.
I'm about to leave for a pathfinder convention tomorrow and I'll be gone until Tuesday, unfortunately - so the dry spell will continue for a bit longer.

Gavriil |

Sorry, guys! I thought I posted that I would be away for a while. I went to a theater convention last week and I'm still trying to get caught up between work and getting ready to go back to school next week. I'm reading through and will try to get a post up tomorrow. Also, next week will be a little wonky with me with going back to school and trying to get used to the new schedule so posting may be limited.
