The ceiling is approximately fifteen feet, not forty. I had to copy a lot of very precisely-worded text over from the magazine for that description and apparently that error slipped by me.

If Farrukh wants to revise his action, he's fully welcome to do so. I apologize for the erroring. In my haste to try to provide more frequent updates than we've had for the bulk of this adventure, I may have rushed past important aspects. :P

Suggestion: the fight's going poorly and you haven't moved off the pillar you rode up on, right? Maybe someone can reverse it and you guys can either get a breather or bring the demon down to us?

Maybe stepping off the pillar reverses it?

Also, IF we get some indication that things are going poorly, Rodrigo can try to DD us up there and we'll just eat the shunt damage. If he summons an earth elemental or something with teleportation they could check on Farrukh while we're goofing off with card games, which maybe would be in keeping with Rodrigo's laziness, if not with his relaxed/non-anxious disposition.

I have gaseous form as an option still but I think the room will zap me . . .

I suppose it's a moot point now but are you saying the creature is immune to blind or it's immune to blind via dirty trick because it has too many eyes to effectively rake?

The latter feels a little martials vs castery. With a natural 20 maybe it was just a very very good eye rake?

Most creatures with multiple sets of eyes are immune to blinding in general, as I recall. Whether it be via Blindness/Deafness, Dirty Trick, or anything else.

Temp Acid Resist: 30|Action Points: 8/13|Bombs: 11/23|Female Undine (Formerly Yugoloth-Spawn Tiefling) Alchemist (Chirurgeon) 16|HP: 108/85|AC: 22(36)/14(23)/19(26)|Saves: +15 Fort (+20 vs. Poison), +18 Ref, +12 Will (+1 vs. Enchantments)|Initiative: +3|Perception: +21

Well, here's the plan I'm thinking of:

I hit Farrukh with my CSW extract, take a 5' step to get to the seal in the floor, then spend an AP to get another action to yank it out of the floor. That's assuming pulling the seal out of the floor costs a Standard and not a Move--if it only costs a Move, then I can do it without spending an AP.

The main problem is you can't "hit me" with your Extract, I have to take it from you and drink it.

If you're going to drop us down, I might get a few more whacks in on the demon, and then Astraden can help me out, probably a bit better.

Which creatures are those? The only things I know of that are immune to blind are typically things without eyes.

Beholders™ are very much not immune to blind.

Iunno then. I looked around and it looks like you're right.

Actually, some of the stuff I found suggested a few of those creatures are MORE susceptible to being blinded by magic, especially ones that produce bright light.

Just another example of "You must have this much magic to ride" it seems.

I cannot find a single creature that's immune to blind that isn't immune by virtue of not having eyes.

I am genuinely curious if this is a martials vs caster thing. Would the dirty trick have worked if it'd been 'dropping a sheet on it' or 'kicking up a cloud of dust'. I picked raking the eyes because it seemed appropriate for a magical bear tattoo but if it's a problem I could come up with something else.

I allowed the "wrap in a cloak" option for a creature that saw through its skin in my game.

Martials vs. castery it may be, but this creature can't be blinded with a simple eye rake. It's one of those places where a disparity is essentially unavoidable without heavy modifications. Let's say there are only a hundred eyes on its front. How do you rake all those in less than six seconds?

One example (from 3.5, like the beholder) of what Sundaken's thinking of is in the Critical Fumble deck, where many-eyed creatures are stated to be immune to being blinded by single instances (not unlike how a many-headed creature is immune to being killed by a single decapitation).

Carina Viera wrote:

Bear in mind the only place you've found those were with Filge. He basically invented them. I see alchemy as a slightly newer realm of study in Greyhawk.

Removing the seal is a move action.

Is kicking up dust a viable option?

Female Kobold

You would need a glassblower's help. Luckily, you guys are heading for some locations soon where resources will be pretty easy to acquire.

Dust is different. This isn't exactly a baseball field, but dust (or blood, sweat, tears, or other various fluids would be more likely to work. Dirty tricks, for me, are really an imagination game—any effect is possible if the technique makes some sense.

Did we determine if the seeking enchant overcame mirror image?

Female Kobold

We did.

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32, 2011 Top 4

I think it's a more economical use of my arrows in this case to just try and pick away at mirror images and increase the chance that someone that actually does massive amounts of damage will land a hit.

Depends on if Astraden has diamonds on her.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

No one is dying today.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

But no, we do not currently have enough diamonds. If we level up after this and Rodrigo grabs teleport, we can get enough diamonds pretty quickly.

Female Kobold

I think you could make the argument that the demon gets to get off its eye beams (and, technically, five-foot step) before getting confused, but I decided that wasn't the right interpretation here.

Liberty's Edge

Male Underpowered Warrior 1

Honestly, I wasn't sure if the demon COULDN'T full attack on the same targets: just switching the subjects of each attack suite. Longswords on Tanith and eyebeams on Carina would still technically be a full attack on the same targets.

Buuut I reasoned it wouldn't make too much difference anyways, since Tanith's got a much higher armored AC than touch, and Carina's got a good touch AC, so with this setup it wouldn't have killed them. Maybe.

Female Kobold

Oh no! Rodrigo's azatas don't know who to target and attack the party!
