Charles Caskgrip |

Charles puts his hand out for a shake. He ...is maybe ...smiling?

Wulf Torstein |

Wulf knew all their reasons, but that frekk Trett wasn't getting away from him again. He wasn't going to stop so anyone could get the killing blow.
"Let's go I'm about to knock that damn dish down with my own hammer!" He says angrily, the frustration still boiling over in him.

Ton'iel Wexley |

Ton shakes the halfling's hand, a deal struck.
Lets head to the tower. I think the good old fashioned Charles + Invisibility + camera plan is a good one

GM Mustache |

You proceed forward, cautiously, heading east to where your map has the dish marked.
As you draw closer, you see a ravine carved into the wall, and a series of wooden platforms crisscrossing around it. There are doors leading into the scrapwall. Above all of this, on top of wall, there is the large energy dish which is said to have been the cause of Torch's problems.
But something is wrong. There are scavenger birds circling, and even from a distance, you think you can make out bodies littering the complex.

Garfaulk Sharpstone |

Garfaulk chuckles, turning to Zeke, whispering "Heh. 50 gold says Wulf gets him" with a wink before following along towards the giant dish "Hells yes! Got my explosives both primed n' ready! Heh, good thing I never fell off'r tower, eh?"
---
As they approached the ravine, Garfaulk noticed the birds and became a little more upbeat "See them? Those'r scavengin birds. Maybe someone did all the heavy liftin fer us already." Still, he made sure to have Crescendo in hand, with Slagbreather set back to the blast cartridge, though made sure he had the laser rifle wear crescendo usually sat. The heavily armed dwarf grunted-he'd probably have to make a decision about one of these guns eventually-though that day was not today.

Ton'iel Wexley |

"Alright, maybe this changes things. Let's move up careful like."
Ton begins moving forward into the scene, Inferno Pistol drawn.

Ton scans them quickly, moving up to the staked men, before paying more attention to any threats that may still be lurking nearby.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Wulf Torstein |

Wulf attempts to stay up front ready to take on whatever piled up these bodys.
"It's those cleric people, right? The ones we've bumped into before?" He says looking around the area.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Jolga Krak |

Jolga looks at the bodies on stakes and grows angry "What kind of honor for the dead is this? Whoever did this deserves to have their body buried underground in shame!!!"

Ezekiel "Zeke" Smith |

Zeke draws out scrolls of mage armor and heightened awareness and reads the words on them carefully, anxiously checking around him periodically to make sure the staked bodies aren't moving and the flaming skeleton is nowhere near him.
He sticks near Wulf, ready to cast shield of faith on the big man if any other threats should appear.

Garfaulk Sharpstone |

Garfaulk groaned, making sure Crescendo was cocked and ready to fire-he hated fighting clerics. Is it Staked or Stacked? misread it the first time, and Jolga and Wulf seem to have read it each their own way as well The dwarf grimaced a bit as the state of the bodiues, but then gave Jolga a curious look "Oy, I intend to be buried when I go-dwarf returnin to the earth an all tha. Ideally facedown, so anyone who digs me up can kiss my arse. Wha's wrong with bein buried? Despite his banter, he was still keeping a watchful eye out for movement, gun at the ready.

Jolga Krak |

I think Zeke and I read it as "staked".
Jolga looks at the dwarf, puzzled. "But that would tell all your strength was worthless and should be discarded. Perhaps even that it was a putrid, festering disease!"

GM Mustache |

All is quiet. From here, the whole place seems abandoned! Or probably more accurately... the whole place has been slaughtered.
Those examining the bodies can see they have been sliced apart with a huge blade.
Roll20 update with current location. You are looking in a ravine cut into the scrapwall, with doors on either side, platforms crossing back and forth

Jolga Krak |

Oh no. Doors stall PBP and we have a whole bunch of them.
Jolga waits to make sure his companions are close enough to him then walks up the stairs and opens the first door, checking for traps on the stairs then door the door on the right. If he doesn't find any traps, he opens the door (if it's unlocked).
Perception traps: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 1 = 21
Perception door: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 1 = 22
Perception in room?: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 11 + 1 = 27
Charles will be better at this but I figured I'd do one of them for him.

Charles Caskgrip |

Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (5) + 18 = 23
Stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
Charles sneaks up to a door and checks it for traps.

GM Mustache |

Lol! I'll do you a big favor then!
The heroes of Torch (and Jolga) start popping doors open and exploring the interior of this complex. It soon becomes clear that in the not too distant past, the inhabitants of this place were slaughtered to the man. Based on the blood stains everywhere, and drag marks, they were all killed indoors and then brought outside. The location has been looted; there is little to find of value... Some aspect of the interior though... is strangely, paranoidingly familiar to Garfaulk.
It becomes clear that these Thralls of Hellion were slaughtered by a more powerful force.
For a failure that wasn't even their own fault... the dish stopped receiving energy from the underground reactor at Torch.
I opened most of the doors in roll20, you can explore the interior, though it is dark in there so you may need a light source.

Garfaulk Sharpstone |

lol I've been checking every wall of every room since I found that note-no hint required though appreciated lol
Garfaulk, looking around as they approach, suddenly feels like this place... this is what he's been waiting for, looking for. Even breaking out Whiskifiss had him looking for basements or other places where one would have a bunch of small rooms in a row, and this place fit the bill. His gut telling him left, he proceeds, Crescendo in hand. "Nah, There's no way... could it be..." for the first time, Gafaulk was talking... quietly. And to himself. Checking each room carefully, he proceeds with a bit of caution until he got into what seemed like a bunch of cells, starting towards the last one on the left, giving the door a kick to see if it was open, not taking his hands off his weapon, just in case.

Charles Caskgrip |

"Later," Charles says. "Don't need to draw attention."

Wulf Torstein |

Wulf follows Garfaulk, the Dwarf seems on to something. "What is it Garfaulk? Did you find something?" He looks over the Dwarfs shoulder.

Garfaulk Sharpstone |

The dwarf is easy enough to find, as he's tossing crates and junk aside, digging through feverishly, looking for something-and then stops at the dirt. Digging more carefully now, he starts looking through it meticulously, no wanting to damage whatever lay there. "Not yet. But I think I'm about to find sumthin... mighty interestin..."

Charles Caskgrip |

"What's up, Gar? Looks like someone did our killing for us."

Ezekiel "Zeke" Smith |

Zeke chips in and helps Garfaulk move junk and crates aside, then tries to help further by pushing the dirt he piles up out of the way. He watches Garfaulk with a bemused expression, but no judgment.

Charles Caskgrip |

"Jolga. Did you just burn those bodies, signaling 5o all that we're here?"

Jolga Krak |

Survival to see how much smoke I made: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 1 = 17
Good time for a 2...
Jolga tilts his head. "I gave them the rites of my people. But it is not like burning green branches indiscriminately."
I would say that I didn't make any smoke but with only a 17, I'm not sure.

Charles Caskgrip |

"Asked you to wait." Charles goes to look.

GM Mustache |

Garfaulk digs in the dirt, and it isn't long before he pulls out a metal box.
With shaking heads, he opens the lid and carefully opens it. A note sits a top of an assortment of wires, tubes, and gadetry.
The note reads: Young dwarf, told ya this would be one o yer favorites. Ya found it, so now ya gotten use it. Don't be gettin' cold feet on me, ya here? Stay the course. Help those friends o yours and keep remindin' the drow that 'is god is a crazy bastard.
I'll just let Garfaulk take a 20 here on K Engineering and tell you...
Garfaulk spend a while puzzling out the tubes and wires, arranging them and rearranging them. Eventually he finds a standard port for a battery and charges it... A bout of flame shoots out, setting his beard on fire!
This device produces and throws fire!
The catch-- it needs to be surgically implanted. Imagine one of the ports on iron man's palms
Wrist Integrated Flamethrower
Base Item: 1 handed firearm
Proficient: Exotic (firearm)
Damage: Fire, see below
Battery Capacity: 10 Battery Usage: See below
Battery Capacity (10), Usage: 2 charges/round
This device is a cybernetic weapon and only works when implanted into the user’s body. It can be installed into the wrist and connects to a port on the user’s palm.
This device produces an electric spark that ignites the air around enemies in a 15 foot cone for d4 fire per level (max 10d4). There is no attack roll, but anyone in the cone gets a reflex save for half. (Reflex 10+ ½ Character Level+ Dex modifier).
No feats or class special abilities are able to add extra damage to a flamethrower.
The flamethrower’s AOE remains in effect until the beginning of character’s next turn, when they must decide if they will continue the flame. If an enemy or friend enters the flames between the user’s turns, they also take damage as if they were hit.
Each successive round a creature is hit by the flamethrower, they are dealt an extra cumulative d4 points of damage (d4->2d4->3d4->4d4), of continuous burn damage. This is added to the total damage and is also reduced by the reflex save.
The user is able to reposition their aim but can only take a 5 foot step while shooting in successive rounds. Most enemies will attempt to get out of the flame unless trapped or brainless. The continuous flames ends when the battery power gives out (or PC decides to stop), so a fresh 10 charge battery can only last 5 rounds max.

Garfaulk Sharpstone |

The dwarf picked up the box, hands shaking, wide grin on his face as he opened it, expecting some sort of pistol, or rifle, though was puzzled by the tubes and wires. Fiddling about with the bits and pieces, his eyes widened. "Well now, aint tha sumthin-what in blazes!" he yelps a bit as the flames singe his beard. Patting out the flames quickly, he packs it back into the box. He groans a bit, thinking back to that merchant who offered them the body parts earlier. Still, when he got back up, box tucked under his arm, he had a glint in his eye. "Heh. Looks like someone out there likes me-and they've left me a bit o a gift. This lass ere will be a fun one. Though we're gonna need help settin er up. Think we can find tha metal part merchant again? Throwin flames around may is bound to be a good time"

Ton'iel Wexley |

"Yeah maybe..." Ton says looking around still wary. "This all stinks to me. Let's deal with this dish and get out of here."

GM Mustache |

With the mysterious weapon gathered up, the party proceeds through the building toward what seems to be the access point for the dish. As you pop open yet another door in the abandoned complex, you hear hungry snorting and snuffling in the dark room before you.
There is something in there, and somehow it knows you are coming!

Ezekiel "Zeke" Smith |

"Beware, friends, these scavenging creatures eat metal!" He considers. "I wonder if we could lure them away from the door with 'treats'? Do we have anything substantially metal that we can easily part with?"

Jolga Krak |

Jolga looks to the stars, though he can't see them in the day or inside this building, but nonetheless faint, transparent spirits swirl around him, bolstering his allies.
+1 morale to attk and weapon damage from battle spirit.

Ton'iel Wexley |

"Beware, friends, these scavenging creatures eat metal!"[b] He considers. [b]"I wonder if we could lure them away from the door with 'treats'? Do we have anything substantially metal that we can easily part with?"
"Wulf?" Ton snorts laughter despite the dire situation

Ezekiel "Zeke" Smith |

Zeke blinks, wide-eyed, and then giggles softly at his big friend. "You want to try to draw them off, Mr. Wulf?"

Wulf Torstein |

"Let's just get in there then!" He moves into the room and pushes past Ton. Spotting the creature he swings out at it.

"[smaller]Medium strategy. Gun bois! Light 'em up!"

Garfaulk Sharpstone |

Aiming around the corner through the doorway, Garfaulk held Crescendo in one hand, pulling Slagbreather out to fire her cone shot into as many of them as the blast could reach "Metal eaters?! They get mah guns, ya might as well tie me to tha dish when we blow er to smithereens!" Though he tried to hush his voice halfway through that yell, just in csse someone was around to hear them. Oh how he wish he had the thrower of flames installed already.

Sorry, I misread, I didn't think you were waiting on me.
Ton has fought all sorts of horrors in his life, not least since he has been rolling with this crew. But now that he has it, nothing scares him so much as the possibility of losing this piece of remarkable technology on his hip.
He withdraws to safety from the metal eating bastards.
With draw south. Will fire from safety next round

GM Mustache |

Wulf pushes past everyone and gets in the room, provoking an AoO. Once again, the rust monster reaches out to a precious weapon...miss!
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Wulf crunches it in return, though it still stands.
Garfaulk gets a good shot off... BAM! The scattershot hits two of them.
@wulf: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
@wulf: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
@gar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Two of the rust monsters head toward Wulf... he has a very nice looking warhammer! Adamantine! That is prime metal! They both reach out to touch it... both make contact...!
Simultaneously, one reaches out to Garfaulk and touches Slagbreather!
A little help here. Here is the rust monster's power. I read this as both Wulf and Garfaulk get to make DC15 reflex saves to jerk their weapons out of reach. Do people agree? (It is a little confusing in the wording, makes it seem like the object get the reflex save which I don't understand).
A rust monster‘s antennae are a primary touch attack that causes any metal object they touch to swiftly rust and corrode. The object touched takes half its maximum hp in damage and gains the broken condition—a second hit destroys the item. A rust monster never provokes attacks of opportunity by attempting to strike a weapon with its antennae. Against creatures made of metal, a rust monster‘s antennae deal 3d6+5 points of damage. An attended object, any magic object, or a metal creature can attempt a DC 15 Reflex save to negate this effect. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Wulf and Garfaulk should make a reflex save. (2 for Wulf).
Everyone else can attack!

Ton'iel Wexley |

So basically, an attended item uses the wielder's saves. So yes Wulf and Garfaulk roll their reflex saves vs DC 15
If the hammer and gun were unattended - such as lying on the floor - they would get no save. Magic items get their own saves even if they are unattended but that's a level of complexity we don't need to worry about right now (A magic item’s saving throw bonus equals 2 + 1/2 its caster level rounded down).
