Hrmmm... bit lost in the execution of that but I'll roll with it.
Mount 1 retreated after being reduced to low health. Archer 1 is taken along for the ride, fails at his job to kill us and it smacked for being a bad employee by his boss.
Or did he just get murdered and eaten by the black fleshy tentacle dog?
Mount 2 is insta gibbed. Archer 2 is stuck under Mount 2's weight. Archer 2 Rambo's up the courage to shoot one of his undamaged arrows.
The hero power lets him act before he is suppose to I guess.
Now Rhavenna and Wallace act (mostly Rhavenna, as wallace is not exactly the best combat type.)
Then #3, Mai, and #4 yes?

Wallace Boyd |

Noted, one combination Buff bot/Death tank is now on the battlefield.
May need to consider this as a common tactic for future, being assure the best buffs courtesy of Wallace might even be worth the indignity of having a human on your back like some Animal or something.

DM Corerue |

Yep that about sums it up. Hob 1 / Wolf 1 retreated, where wolf 1 slammed down and left him on foot.
Wolf 2 is dead, dead and pinned its rider. Who is trying to hurt Livain severely before it dies using a special ability it has (which is now depleted.). As its leg is really broken. Random 2nd edition mounted combat table being utilized as it adds flavor. :3
Apologies for any confusion~

Wallace Boyd |

Never mind the eerie feeling that Wallace's Buffalo has been making eyes at you.
Yep, I'm just gonna call it a mountain buffalo, prevents people from getting confused as to what it is (because Yaks and Buffalos use the same statblock.)
Between it and Rhavenna we basically don't need to worry over loot weights.
I mostly understood but had wanted to ensure I knew what was involved before making some assumption on the battlefield that turns out to be wrong.
*blinks* *readjusts spectacles*
Well, here I am talking about it and it arrives on thundering horse-y hooves.

Wallace Boyd |

Wait we have hero points? Didn't know that. Could we add that to the Campaign info bar?
Oh and Rhavenna the doubling on a lance is similar to a crit, So I'm pretty sure you double the effect on my buffs in the same way bard song(morale/competence) bonuses multiply on crits normally.
So you should have 6 more damage on that crit, not that it matters in this instance as you make a Dog-Kebab regardless.

DM Corerue |

Apologies yes everyone has hero points, you have the option of surrendering them and gaining the extra feat.
Unlike most DM's I allow you to collect them up to your lvl maxing out at 10 max. Because sometimes you see those movies where the hero throws down like a juggernaut and colapses later from complete exhaustion or dies.
I will add it to the campaign tab soonish~

Wallace Boyd |

Much as an extra feat is nice Rerolls and the option of spending them for additional impressive effects is just too much a draw. Can't bring myself to throw them away.
I would assume as we are level 3 that we possess 3?

Wallace Boyd |

So is it wrong that I want to browbeat the black tentacle wolf into becoming my mount? I'm willing to bet it is smart enough to understand the concept of bowing to a superior force, plus tentacle dog for the Yoggie priest.

DM Corerue |

Apologies for the wait. Was injured at work and am recovering from a swinging load/pinned under heavy load and crushing incident. Luckily it wasn't a direct hit, but I have nine broken ribs and a fractured shoulder and rotor cuff.
Posting now, one handed ha!

Wallace
If it isn't instant gibbed you could try. >:3

DM Corerue |

Heh the Med here misread the xrays, not uncommon. Sadly. So I am suffering from severe bruising and swelling ATM but the broken ribs are downgraded, which I am personally glad about, and they are looking at re-x-raying my shoulder and wrist. Lets hope its just tendenitous and swelling. Still sucks but better then yesterday.
New guys. :p

Lol indeed if the hound don't get gibbed~ >:)
Rhavenna It wouldn't be so bad if they would hire the friggen people and the equipment we need to do it more safely. That was a hydraulic ram failure on a boom. Granted it was slow but it swung down hard enough that it was going to hit a couple of people. So I was able to get them out of the way but the load landed on a pallet of pipe we had near by which then spun and pinned my ass to a wall. Thankfully I where lots of clothes since its -34 here.
Thought about the military but can't afford it atm. I make a little over 6 figures with my old gig but my new one will make it an easy 6 figures plus bonuses. However my new gig is way, way safer. Because it'
s with a company that actually buys new equipment and follows OSHA a lot more strenuously...
This time next year I will be working on paying off everything and if not It'll be all paid for and debt free by 2016. I hate bills...

Wallace Boyd |

Well that's good, keeping it down to only a couple broken bones at a time makes your body less likely to just coffee table flip and walk off going 'nope'.
Safe work is good, well paying safe work is better. Bills are bad I agree.

Wallace Boyd |

Unless we misunderstood each other Wallace touched the first wolfs body as his actual action (two rounds ago when Rhavenna charging lance murdered the dog.) and made an Aoo of sorts on the hobgoblin. Both with the lorekeeper ability.
So hopefully I know something useful about the dogs.
I had mostly figured that the hobgoblins were for the most part 'normal' with class levels and the dogs had templates. Or rather none of the hobgoblins have turned into tentacle monsters yet so we will have to see once we start storming the castle.
And that attack turned out to be exactly as nasty as I thought. I am so very happy he chose to hit the person that could actually survive that hit and stay standing rather than nailing the magic buff box she has riding on her back.
Well technically Rhavenna could crit again with the lance and deal enough damage to KO the hobgoblin before its attack can hit. (having an AOO and all)
EDIT: Or not. Lets see what our resident kill cannon Magi have to say on this subject.
Makes me sad we never got around to actually getting a healing wand though. I've only got the one healing spell today and then I'm mostly tapped.

Wallace Boyd |

Eyyup. Lets hope I roll decently on the Cure Moderate I have for the day. With a bit of luck that and a few channeled heals ought to at least take the bite out of all that damage.
Well that and having Rhavenna gain the long term goal of getting a charge speed to out range any naturally occurring monster.

Wallace Boyd |

Now that I think of it a wand of infernal healing would be easier for us to use. Evil leanings aside it is on both the cleric and magus spell lists and heals more HP than a maximized CLW anyway.
Be nice if they could just make evil spells actually evil with effects to reflect the added issues rather than just slapping a vague 'evil' label on it and calling it good.
take more time to benefit from its Inf. heal's effects though. Not that it would matter much if you are in between fights anyway though.
I still have a couple hundred gold floating. Need to finalize my remaining sundries though. On looking I realize I never purchased an alchemist lab.
Should have an answer on the possibilities of how much I can pitch (if the topic is still cool) in a little while.

Wallace Boyd |

60ft move speeds are no joke. Hence my desire to capture and browbeat 'Blackie' the tentacle wolf into being my minion.
Well unless there is some bigger version with more tentacles over the next hill. Gotta wouldn't due to have last years model of Aberrant terror beast.
I'm waiting on Corerue to post the hobgoblin archers round before posting but if nothing interferes I intend to pass the initiative to Rhavenna and have her act before me.
Assuming Rhavenna wants to full attack she can kick with her hooves, 5ft step and then attack with the lance.
Wallace would advice this as such a movement would then put his distractable casting butt outside of their threat range letting him case his cure moderate wounds spell in peace before they are able to act.
But that all depends on Chickenheart the hobgoblin archer who is now in an excellent position to bravely run away if s/he? so desired.

DM Corerue |

Trying out a new gestalt combo.
Gunslinger (Pistolero, Mechanist) / Magus (Arcane Archer Arch AKA Gun Mage / Kensai - Gunkata)
Pretty awesome that the Arcane Archer arc allows Any Ranged weapon. Couple that with Kensai and you almost have a Tetragrammaton Cleric Mwahahah.
Anywho, I look forward to your coming posts!

Wallace Boyd |

Awesome. Promotions are typically a very good thing.
The gestalt combo sounds quite cool.
Oh and do you have an opinion relating to us purchasing a wand like we have been talking about since this started?
With Maiathreen's generous donation and a bit of finagling on Wallaces part I've managed to obtain just enough money to purchase such an object.

Wallace Boyd |

One wand of super awesome evil healing purchased.
unfortunately it won't do a heck of a lot for in combat wounds but hopefully the CMW will keep Rhavena in the running long enough for me to bring the wand to bear.
Hopefully between the three of us we can down the hobgoblin and his little dog before their big brother and his merry minstrels come out to play.
As I'm pretty sure we are going to need to save our best tricks for whatever wonderful thing that is.
And I just now noticed the spoiler you gave me a few posts up. thank you, though that means I'm gonna have to touch blacky to figure out his tricks.

Wallace Boyd |
3 people marked this as a favorite. |

And in another world, another time. A Rhavenna who engauged with this same warrior screams as the grazing wound of his lance suddenly becomes larger by far.
It causes her to stumble as she flees the creatures boiling out of the ruin keep draw closer. The many feathered corpse of wallace bleeding into the field from a full dozen arrow shafts. A ballista bolt fully through livian's chest and the mad cries of maiathreen as he battles three warriors at once losing blood swiftly in a war of attrition he no longer cares to win.
The centaur screams her last as the foes draw on her a frenzy of claws and blacked blades ending her existance.
The world ends with the sound of a closing door.

Livain |

...so I was looking at the new Incendiary Arrows...and I was wondering what happens if i shot one of those a someone and then fired a raining arrow at them that happened to be filled with oil instead of holy water or raining arrow with a small amount of alchemical fire....Also Wallace you need to work with me and we need to make some alchemical arrows. I love the new version of the splintercloud arrows.

Wallace Boyd |

Wallace would absolutely love to get you a small collection of various nasty arrows.
An efficient quiver and a wand/ effect of Abundant ammunition could even make the use of such items a viable tactic on normal foes instead of just burning money for bosses.
Cuz alchemical items are not in fact magical.
Which makes me miss my gnome scientist crafter and his harpoon tipped compressed air hypodermic crossbow bolts making people explode with the power of gas.
As for desirable arrows.
Slow burn, Tangleshot, Trip, and Angel Quill arrows are all fun ones when manipulating Abundant ammunition and spending 1 arrow to fire X= Arrows/round x minutes= CL arrows of the same type. Stacking 1d6 fire damage per shot from slow burns can result in some horrible things.
Ghost salt weapon Blanche is a favorite of mine for ranged Characters as it lets them hit an incorporeal target reliably 10 times which can be a life saver at lower levels.
Oh and Holy Weapon Balm is ridiculous.
I will say that barring the stupid trick I have stated the incendiary arrows seem a clever trick. Though if we are looking for great effect I'd mention that later on Wallace will be able to obtain access to a few arcane spells of his choice each day. Like say shrink item, to cast on a couple oversized bolts filled with lamp oil. Non-magical fireball spells right there.

Wallace Boyd |

Heh. Wallaces learny touch has informed him that the trio of hounds the archers used are Mutant dire wolves that are mindless. basically meat robots.
He hasn't seen much reason to tell you all as nothing he learned helped much in the way of killing them. And the black one is obviously different so he can't say much on what it is.
If this black one follows suit there is a good chance the dog just stops moving after its master dies.
We shall see this next round.
It will be amusing to see the arguments wallace would need to use for him to be able to keep one of these as a pet.

If it wasn't for the rarity of gunpowder in this area I was almost tempted to use a revolver as my weapon. Outlaw Star Caster for the win :)

DM Corerue |

No kidding. Gun Mage from Privateer Press was an awesome class Idea. Exactly like Outlaw Star.
Outlaw Star, Awesome anime! Pity it wasn't longer. :///////
Really Like Black Lagoon. >:)
So work proves more and more hectic at the moment. Going through a lot of training. Apparently I was more qualified than they expected and so now I am become their head of inspection. >.<; Holycraptraining Batman!
Working on catching up!

Wallace Boyd |

This would be true and I appreciate you addressing it.
However as it stands Rhavenna, Livain or Maiathreen could choose to spend a hero point to act out of turn and strike the hobgoblin before he gets away.
Rhavenna could spend one to add a +4 to her roll of choice (attack) after the roll is already done causing a small cascade event where posts get cancelled out due to the players choices.
Time travel can get very trippy when play by post is involved.
It might be good to figure out our stance on the issue of action altering effects* before too long here.
*primarily hero points but I know that there are at least a few immediate action spells and effects that can alter things as well.
