History

Wallace comes from Iobaria, he left at a young age after a coalition of inquisitors burned down his town and slaughtered the townfolk for following an extra-heretical god. His father ensured his escape after shoving the holy texts into wallaces hands and summoning a door by drawing one on the wall in his blood.
Wallace ended up in the middle of nowhere in a snowstorm, it was only by chance he ended up finding a thorp nearby and begging a room for the night.
And so began the adventures of Wallace when he realized that he was several hundred miles from home with a collection of books, five silver, his clothes and his wits.

After home was burning to the ground he, found himself in a corner of Northern Mendev.
He was taken in by crusaders of the the crusades for a few months time, playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse with men and women he quickly realized were exactly the type to do what the inquisitors in Iboria had done to his home.
He departed one night with a sack of food and some better shoes, walking the roads he found and ended up in a port town discovering a talent for telling people exactly what they wanted to hear as he begged borrowed or stole enough gold to buy him passage on one of the departing boats.
With some luck (and the blessings his god chose to grant him) he made his way from Egede to Port Ice in Brevoy.
after months of learning it Wallace found it natural finding a job with one of the locals doing odd jobs. Hard living was made easier by the prayers and learning his fathers books gave him.
Eventually his state was noticed by a part time alchemist and retired teamster.
Years pass, Wallace grows and the scars of his childhood stretch with age. He learns more about the nature of people, how leading worked and the words and language of a half dozen civilizations from growing up in a port.
Though his surrogate grandfather was always disturbed when he would murmer the disturbing ones while sleeping. No child ought to know the languages of the depths like that.
Eventually the old man died Wallace was alone for the second time in his young life.
He didn't really go anywhere with a purpose at that point. Old enough to not really draw questions traveling alone. He'd tell stories and cut down sermons preaching the easily processed parts of his faith.
He was exceptionally good at speaking but storytelling wasn't a well recognized bardic art in the taverns and lands he lived.

then we have him encountering more troubles, inquisitors of goodly gods and followers of other elder/outer gods. He moves on and found he could blend in quite well with a mercenary band, the Blades were hiring he convinced the recruiter that the frail reality he stood upon was maintained by only the ignorance of those who lived in it. Then Wallaces face morphed into a collection of fanged cilia and the Recruiter needed new pants.
Suffice to say Casters were on the short list to get picked by mercenaries more so if they had healing abilities. So even though Wallace was rather insane he ended up with them.
Great place for him though, lots of slightly mad people.
Friends would know that he is much more of a jerk than his first impressions lead to.

Appearance
-----------
Wallace is a gangly red head, he has brown eyes and a half scowl for every occasion. With hair and beard in half done style when he isn't trying to look like anything he gives off the appearance of a stringy thug.
Lanky with a tendency to slouch most don't realize his full size until he starts speaking on something and gesturing with those same long arms.
What he wears changes with the winds but at the moment Wallace wears clothing designed for cold weather.
A furred parka with thick pants, snow boots with a good tread pant legs folded to keep the frost from his feet. A pair of goggles rest on the crown of his head and the chain shirt under his coat jingles every once in a while.

Personality
--------------
Wallace is a solitary man, some by nature but mostly by necessity. He is self dependent and willful guarding his opinions and reactions to all but those he considers friends. He appears a neutral party in most situations acting a negotiator where necessary.
He is capable of stunning speeches and expressions of words, starting slowly before building into fevered sermons about self improvement or bravery that commonly sidesteps religion entirely.

those few that he does let see his normal reactions find he is smarmy and quite blunt uninterested in maintaining the social graces he has refined to those he has no interest in impressing. He drinks and laughs freely with those allies, trying his best to find amusement where he can and will intersperse his speech with expressions from his strange religion.
