Works for me, Frankie's cool! Let's wait until we're through the Livery and we can have Victor slip away and Frankie show up.

Roger Schmitt |

Sounds good. Just so I don't waste any time, we'll still be level 1 correct at that point?

Morvena Sarini |

By all means bring whoever would be the most fun for you to play! I'm still getting the hang of Morvena and her personality myself, so bear with me if my writing seems a bit uneven still.

![]() |

Yup, you should all still be level 1 after the Livery.
Everyone, what is your preference as far as spoilering what individual PCs see? In my last post, I wrote what Victor saw but didn't hide it under a tag because I figured he'd tell you anyway, and you'd eventually see the same things. However, some might find it more immersive if a PC actually has to tell you her interpretation of what she saw. Does anyone have a preference?

![]() |

My preference:
Please present it as narrative text, indicating who noticed. When appropriate, use the spoiler.

Roger Schmitt |

What Padraig said for stuff you are sure will be shared, but spoiled for things that may or may not be. This is a very cloak and dagger type of adventure so there could be some things individual PCs may want to keep somewhat hidden or controlled.
I do ask that loot and gear not be concealed as that's just bad juju.

Morvena Sarini |

I have no specific preference as a player though I've discovered that as a GM I tend to present it as (unspoilered) narrative for similar reasons that you do, Red. Spoilers usually come out in response to a PC making a specific check, such as a Sense Motive against someone that the entire group is speaking to or a PC being pulled away for a private conversation.

Geoffrey Piersym |

I am with Morvena on this one.

Morvena Sarini |

Going to be out and about for the morning and part of the afternoon, will catch up on Gameplay later this evening~

Morvena Sarini |

Sorry guys, kinda pooped out last night before I could get to this game and post...but at least I've not really missed much or held up the action too much :)

![]() |

No problem at all and I apologize if I skipped your stealth opportunity. If you wish, you can lob a preemptive flare as your surprise round?

Morvena Sarini |

Sure and it's really no big deal, you waited quite awhile before moving things on so I don't feel like you were being punitive or unfair in moving along :)

Issil Tanessen |

Okay, potential solutions to this fight:
We should adapt one of these strategies, quick. Uh, did anyone make their K Planes check so they can tell Issil about the silver vulnerability?

![]() |

I don't think anyone did make that check, but I also don't think it's unreasonable to think "Hmm, normal weapons seem ineffective, let me try this silver one." One other thing to add (as I told you and Victor) - Rexus has Color Spray. :)

Morvena Sarini |

Yeah, Morvena actually tanked that check - and with a +7 to her roll, to boot :(

Morvena Sarini |

A note: for the next several days (Thursday through Tuesday, sans Sunday) I will be working and so my posting will be largely limited to the evenings CST - so don't panic if you don't see any posts from me earlier in the day on those days :)

Roger Schmitt |

You should carry around a portal hole or something and use it as a swimming pool or bath tub at the end of everyday. Sounds reasonable right?

Morvena Sarini |

Great googly moogly, 20 new posts by the time I got around to catching up on this game! I'm kinda looking forward to finishing a few of my Society games so things will calm down a bit and I'll have more time for this game (and my other not-PFS games) :)

Issil Tanessen |

Sounds like we have some sweet gear. Are any of the pearls magical? Appraise is a skill Issil plans to pick up next level, so she has no idea of their worth besides "pretty."

Roger Schmitt |

Ya Roger will be taking a rank soon enough as well. I plan to have him be quite good at his normal skills but have broad reach into most of the rogue's class skills at least some what.
I'm still on the fence if I'm going to swap to Frankie. This guy is built to go down a direction I've always wanted to try on a rogue. Frankie is a bit more pigeon holed.

![]() |

Victor's cool, and you seem to be having fun with him.

![]() |

Regarding the distribution of the loot, I'm in favor of putting items in the hands of those who can best use them. No issues with how we've handled things so far.
The cloak of elvenkind would be great for our scout.
The leather armor +1 would serve well one of our melee types. Geoffrey is our tank. Not sure if Victor plans to be a melee guy. Though not much of a damage dealer, Pádraig Henry needs to be in the front lines to aid another with his helpful trait.
Regarding the scrolls, Pádraig Henry can use misdirection, undetectable alignment, and whispering wind. (Pass without trace isn't on the bard's spell list, and his UMD isn't that great yet.) He's happy to have all of the scrolls go to the primary casters.

Issil Tanessen |

My UMD is +7. Right now I have Leather Armor, so the +1 is a straight upgrade.
I can hold onto the Pass without Trace scroll for now. If you don't mind Issil hogging most of the pearls!

Roger Schmitt |

Ya we will need to decide on loot 'rules' for going forward. I would certainly put that cloak to use, at least until getting a cloak of resistance (Who really wears cloaks that aren't 'resistance'?
In some of my other online games we've kept spreadsheets with loot values and who's ended up with what and what gets sold. Those who end up with loot 'buy out' the share that would go to the others. It takes more record keeping work but keeps everyone even on gear levels.
Or we can just give out stuff as to what fits whom the best and sell the rest. (Whichever works for everyone is fine by me.)
As far as leather armor +1... I find if you aren't a druid this armor is pretty useless as you can get more bang for your buck with masterwork studded leather. And even more with mithril chain shirts. We'll need to get an idea from in game or GM on what sort of stuff is available... are we going to need to 'make due' with stuff we find, or will most of the lower level stuff be able to be bought/crafted.
I find building and equipping a PC to be a close second to playing one. Too many years of Diablo and WoW games I guess.

![]() |

Pádraig Henry is in favor of whatever benefits the party. If someone's holding onto some of the loot for that purpose, he's fine with it.
On the other hand, if it's a totally in-character greedy, narcissistic Kardashian debutante sort of thing, the party might want to stage a friendly intervention with the spoiled noblewoman. ;-)

Roger Schmitt |

Ha ya the pearls are an easy one... there was 10 right? 2 each do what you may with them!
The only thing I most definitely want is the mw hand crossbow. I'm still debating rearranging my stats a bit... 8 strength puts such a HUGE limit on carrying capacity for anyone that isn't a Dwarf! You can't even carry the basics of light armor and a ranged and melee weapon without going over.

![]() |

If it's not too great a burden on our hard-working GM or someone to whom he delegates the task, I like the straightforwardness and transparency of adding gp value to the loot-tracking matrix, keeping things relatively balanced.

![]() |

You got it, Mr. Henry. I was thinking about moving our loot to a more manageable spreadsheet rather than a slide, so I'll do both that and add gold into it as well.
Also, the pearls are not magical, but can be appraised for their value - going forward I'll mention any items that can be.

Roger Schmitt |

Ya I've always used google docs spreadsheet for loot tracking. Easy access and everyone can edit it.
If you all want I can make a stab at appraise now with Victor, or we can wait until we level up and then we'll have at least 2 people with ranks, and maybe even some appraisal tools at our disposal.
Making use of the appraise skill will be a nice change of pace, no one ever does.
*Edit: What's our character xp advancement track going to be for this? AKA: What xp total do we hit that magical 2nd level!

Morvena Sarini |

Morvena doesn't have any UMD ranks at present so she's fine with the scroll of Pass Without Trace going to Issil for the time being. Regarding other item distribution, I'm generally in favor of letting items go to whoever can use them best but that's also because I hate being loot monkey and tracking gold and WBL and junk >.>
As far as the other scrolls go, hmm...Misdirection is Illusion which is an opposition school and Undetectable Alignment isn't on the sorc/wizard spell list. Whispering Wind could certainly have use being scribed into Morvena's spellbook. But at the same time from a flavor standpoint, it really seems to fit Padraig's style more :)

![]() |

Given our party composition, Morvena, almost any scroll is better scribed into your spellbook or at least kept on-hand for use when it's needed. I suspect the ability to reach back to our contacts from a long distance will be handy on a number of occasions. If you scribe it, we'll always have access to it.

Morvena Sarini |

Okay, fair enough! Morv will take the scrolls of Whispering Wind then :)

Lets see if this works...
Hey it did! I'll move our stuff found into here and throw in a few things on notes. Everyone feel free to put this to use, let me know if you can't edit it.. they tell me how to fix that!

![]() |

Victor, you are the MAN! Thank you for doing that for us!

![]() |

*Edit: What's our character xp advancement track going to be for this? AKA: What xp total do we hit that magical 2nd level!
2000 XP! Soonish... :)

Roger Schmitt |

So just take a look and fill in any relevant info in the tabs. Also be sure to make adjusts/claim loot that isn't claimed, add things I missed!
PS, Level 2.. the most exciting level after 1!

Roger Schmitt |

Roger Schmitt |

When do we want to go after buying a wand of healing? Don't want to drain all of Issil's spells...

![]() |

The way I'm reading the Book of Letters, I think you'd include the forgery to give yourself a +2 in your Diplomacy check should you encounter a city guard after curfew, right?

Roger Schmitt |

Sounds about right, the 'common turns of phrase, etc' would likely be that bit.
Overall I think its a very useful bit for this adventure.

I'm traveling again this week, and PbPing from airport lounges. I'll be in Vegas until Thursday night (for a conference, honestly!) but will likely still post here and there as I can.

Roger Schmitt |

Yup, definitely going to be taking 10 on bluff checks verses you guys, I can't have multiples of you seeing through my shenanigans at the same time!

Morvena Sarini |

If it makes you feel any better, you're generally going to fool Morv unless I roll really well. Dat +0 Wisdom modifier and all...

![]() |

I'm back in town and catching up now. Look for updates today!

![]() |

I'd forgotten to mention the basement is dark, but the walls are lined with torch sconces that are currently empty. Light 'er up!

Morvena Sarini |

Hey folks, I've got to be at work at 4am tomorrow so I'm out for the night. Bot Morvena as needed and I'll catch up tomorrow afternoon/evening once I get home from work (and possibly have a nap)!
