I have to head to work, so on the assumption someone will advise Tuich as I pull out of the driveway...
"Here, let me have a look," says Tuich as she pulls out a leather tool roll. After a few minutes of fiddling with the mechanism...
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
... she's pretty sure she has it unlocked.

"Perhaps we'll find the key to this door elsewhere in the complex. Let's check the next one for now." Vincent goes up to the next door, looking for traps on the way and on it.

The group follows Vincent down the hall not finding any traps. As Vincent inspects the door he hears a voice on the other side. "Such a lovely smell, I must have it." The door swings open and a bald bug eyed creature stares at Vincent, it's lower jaw splitting open. If the creature's face wasn't so horrify Vincent might have been distracted by the creatures lovely female curves just barely concealed under frayed bits of delicate silk. "Mmmm yes such lovely hair is what I smelled, you will make a nice feast."

Vyk scowls at Vincent.
"I told you not to put those berries in your hair because it would attract flies. But did you listen to me? Nooooooo. 'The berries give my hair bounce for battle, Vyk.' Well, I hope you're happy now. "

"Oh no. Don't you dare touch it!" Vincent exclaims to the creature. He charges it with his sword.
Again, I can't get to the map from where I'm at right now.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 2 = 26 vs flat-footed.
Confirm: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 15
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 3) + 7 = 14
Additional Crit Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 3) + 7 = 14
To Vyk he remarks "It's one thing to be good at fighting. It's another to look good at the same time. My Lord in Iron demands the former, and I require the latter."
I just looked at the map on mobile. I don't have room to charge, so subtract 2 from each of those attack rolls and have me 5 ft-step back after attacking.

It's technically not flat footed as it opened the door in the surprise round. Because of your hair and one of it's abilities it knew you were there before you knew it was there. So minus the charge the crit does not confirm, you did get a massive hit in though.
Garedon seems to be out with back problems so I will GMPC him for now.
Vincent's blade cuts deep into the creatures shoulder causing it to shriek in pain. Garedon steps forward attempts to identify the creature.
Know Dungeon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
"A sinspawn, and from the looks of it a servant to the Runelord of Lust. It appears that Vincents luxurious hair was picked up by the creatures ability to smell out anything desirous or lustful. We should also try to avoid it's bite as it may overwelm one of with feeling of lust that may hinder our abilities to fight." After informing the group of what they are facing Garedon fire's off a magic missle from his wand.
MM: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
SR: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
The force missle seems to slow for just a second before striking the creature and ripping open the wound Vincent gave it. The creature makes a strange gurgling sound before collapsing.
"Hmmm it appears the creature had some sort of natural resistance to spell like energies as well," Garedon says. He looks over at Vincent (insert long winded explanation to the dangers of using any strong smelling items before entering a dungeon).
End of combat.

Nooope still locked.
Heh, I kinda figured that'd be the case from the "locked.....really locked." But between using a Masterwork lockpick and rolling a 19, she wasn't gonna muster much more oomph than what she did. So I imagined her knowing the attempt was nearly perfect, but still being left with doubt. Note the "pretty sure" disclaimer plus the lack of a player-supplied "Click!" :op
Not sure if Tuich can see that... thing (I'm gonna have nightmares tonight, thanks a lot) since it's not marked on the map. Given you described the door opening I'm thinking not, so she'll just hold through the very brief melee. Well done, you two!

Miko blinks as a threat to Vincent's hair appears and is dispatched in a matter of second, all before she can react.

As with Yang Xiao Long, never mess with Vincent's hair!

She may have looked appalling to us, but she was probably used to it herself.
Miko, who has all along tried not to be disturbed by the undead woman, is having a hard time not pointing out the way Esme looks. Still, she refrains from making any snide remarks - she can't help it after all - and in a way Miko admires Esme's composure. Would she remember how she used to look?
Miko has a good look around the room:

Now that the group has a chance to look inside. Shockingly graphic depictions of orgies with all manner of creatures decorate the walls of this chamber. Five humanoid skeletons lie in state on biers—though the bodies appear human, their skulls are those of some monstrous creature. A pile of bloody bones and feathers is all that is left of a recently killed creature. The sinspawn has about 400 gold worth of jewelry and one of the cabinets inside the room is glowing.

"Gee, thanks, " Vyk responds irritated, but trying to hide it. He then walks off muttering quietly about "vengeance" and "scissors".
He stares at the cabinet.
"That could be magical. You can tell because it's glowing ominously."

Probably 6B, I think. Vincent checks for traps as they approach the next door (including the door itself). If it's clear, he opens the door.

Vincent does not see anything that might pose a threat on the door and opens it. Brightly painted carvings along the walls of this room vividly depict mighty dragons in flight over shining cities, while below, winged angels kneel and serve human masters. Peacock-feather motifs dominate throughout the chamber, and a faint, pleasant perfume drifts though the air. Several humans lie supine atop biers draped in rich cloth—if they are dead, the bodies are perfectly preserved and have the appearance of relaxed sleepers, showing no signs of corruption or decay.

Vincent shrugs and grins. "Probably not what you're asking for, but the name reminds me a bit of a bar back home. I think it was 'Zaphora's,' named after his wife or something." He rambles on about various barroom brawls that were had there, naming a couple that he punched in the face.
He moves to the next door and checks it for traps.

K(Loc): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Well, I don't know of any bars around here named Xavorax. Do you reckon it's a ladies' name? Perhaps it was that woman that tried to touch your hair?

"Careful, careful! Don't breach the circle! Anyone recognize what that might be?"

![]() |

Looks like the gnome escaped... Miko says, and when she sees the puzzled face of Tuich she adds Summonign circle? They use this to trap gnomes?

![]() |

Tuich shrugs. "I don't know. I've never had any formal magic training. Things just sort of... happened to me." An unfelt breeze ripples her silks and she adds with a sigh, "Not that it wasn't my own fault."
She continues to eye the markings warily. "All I know is, that kind of stuff," she says, gesturing, "is used in magic rituals and summonings and such. And I think maybe can imprison spirits, too. If there's something in there, I don't want it set loose. I get enough grief from spirits as it is."
She yelps and grabs her head as something unseen tugs at her hair. "Alright, point made. Stop it!"

![]() |

![]() |

"Huh. It's a Magic Circle Against Evil. Perhaps to protect someone from conjuring evil extraplanar beings. Pft! Summoning. Never seen the appeal myself," Vyk scoffs.
"Anyways, let's look around the room for a moment. But, everyone, please be careful."
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
