Sure, I did not post her last moments because in my mind she was still kinda unconscious and unaware of her surroundings due to the Hezrou, but I will have something by tonight. (I was planning on posting those when she is reincarnated!).
No reroll for me... I want to see her make it to the end!

Ary will come back... until she can't.

Haven't seen. I've heard it was a lovely day, though.
Ehren Ferron |
A shame, but unless someone in Nerosyan has some illicit contacts in the River Kingdoms, and unless we happen to be within seven days of a new moon, we'll have to stick to the traditional method.
With everyone coming back, uh, right, I hope. Or maybe not. ;P
Ehren Ferron |
That would be much obliged, though Ehren would probably find it funny. :P
I'm staring at the table right now, trying to figure out much mayhem might ensue.
Does reincarnation affect all ability scores, or just the physical ones?

I'm gonna go with just swapping out your old racial bonuses/penalties for new ones, because the idea you could lose a physical bonus and not gain anything in return (cause the new race is +mental) is silly.
Also the biologist in me points out that technically mental attributes are just as dependent on the body as anything else so the original spell's logic is absurd ;)

I was also looking through the list (and am hoping for serpent folk... spell resistance woo! and crazy bonus to dexterity), and I noticed there was not awakened animal. That would be a really cool addition!

No, Kioralady, elven souls are just statistically smarter than human souls. Its just how it works, and also explains the inborn haughtiness.
Valaria Alazario |
You and me both
Markus Coffinborn |
This is ridiculous. I don't think I can say it was a mistake, exactly, since it went WAY worse in the last couple of rounds (due to the yoinking of Isilme and the failures against the last blasphemy) than we could have imagined.
It still wouldn't have gone WELL, exactly, but we probably lost Ehren because of it.
Ary Bishop |
We would have almost assuredly won had they failed to summon. That clutch blind from Ehren would have made the Hezrou into mostly sitting ducks. Annabelle would have been able to prevent them from using blasphemies (mostly), and would have been immune to them.
I made a judgment call that they'd have already used their summons when they arrived... And was wrong.
Isilme |
We only avoided losing Isilme and Val because of the Quasit honestly. If the quasit hadn't had teleport, Isilme would've been dead. I had no mythic performance left, so I Couldn't countersong as an immediate action again, and there was no time between the paralyze ending and the next one starting. Without a doubt the summoning going off was what killed us. We would have escaped otherwise.
I'm still skeptical that we could've killed both without a casualty without being extremely organized about it though. We would've needed for Val to open up with a surprise round attack, and win initiative, have Ehren successfully blind both of them, and not have had our casters in range of the blasphemy (besides Isilme who needs to be in range for countersong so Ary/Hina/Val only get paralyzed for one round). If we'd done all that, and rolled well, we might have been able to kill both with some pretty serious wounds on our melee.
Edit: Remember that they still have blind-fight and grapple when blinded. So once they hit someone, that person is out of combat. Blind fight means only 25% chance of missing on each attack essentially, and three attacks means that only roughly a 1% chance of all three attacks failing to miss because of blindness. Their to-hit was good enough that they pretty much autohit too.
Ehren Ferron |
I don't think killing them was ever really an option. If Ehren had succeeded in thwarting their summons, that would have left us with two blasphemies, which Isilme would have been able to save us from. After that it would just have been a matter of us hauling ass while they were still blinded. But alas, they had really high caster levels, and one extra blasphemy was all that was needed to shut us down.
GM Kiora |
:)
So it looks like Markus got away. So, let's talk about character death:
Markus, Isilme, and Valaria all got away.
Ehren, Hinagiku, and Ary are dead. Annabelle will be back in 2d4 days.
Your options:
Reincarnation
There's a druid available to reincarnate, all you need are the oils at 1,000 gp a pop. You have 2387 gp on Ary's body, which you'd need to recover to reincarnate people in the first place. So you guys need to figure out what you're selling to make up for the 613 gp difference. So... what is it gonna be?
Normally I'd be eager to roleplay a ton through reincarnation, but with half the group missing I'm leaning towards hastening the process a bit. I'd recommend that Valaria and Isilme get moving, to help me out.
Re-rolls
I don't think any of you are interested in re-rolling but if you are, roll your ability scores on here and PM me. Remember I need a full application per the submission guidelines, including the fluff questions.

Ehren's wand of daylight would be worth 990 gp, if I am correct.
Alternatively, Ghalcor's potion (300 gp) and some other consumables could cover the expenses.
As tempting as it would be to reroll (I am swimming in ideas), I am too invested in Ehren's character arc. If even a part of him can be recovered, I have no excuse not to keep playing as him. His soul would never deny a chance to make things right, even if it means taking a different form. Whether he'll feel that way once he's actually back... well, that's just more stuff to make things interesting. He won't be alone in his predicament, at the very least.
Ary Bishop |
Go ahead and roll them bones, Kioralady! Ary's in it to win it!
Though, like Ehren, she might not take it entirely well. :p
Valaria Alazario |

Just woke up from a long nap. I'll get Val moving.
Honestly, I don't think winning this fight was ever in the cards, but I think we could have won the encounter if they hadn't summoned. After all, we did have a way out. Without the extra blasphemy, we could have all teleported out when Annabelle revealed that the temple was abandoned.
Ary Bishop |
I don't think we'd have killed them, no.
But I do think we'd have been able to take their worst and then get away. It had always been Ary's intention to skirmish, not go all in. :(
Ary Bishop |
Yeah, no rush. We're all just lying in the streets in pools of partially-our-own filth. We can totes wait. :p
:)
Ehren Ferron |
I like to imagine that in the distant future, once Ehren has become some obscure, Baba Yaga-ish creature of myth, he will have somehow obtained the cleric spell list just so he can spam holy word to kill evil adventuring parties. :P
Ary Bishop |
Or so he can come visit Ary to help Fumigate her Abyssal Cabana?
Valaria Alazario |
I made my last post short and didn't actually do anything other than talk. Isilme should still be able to do whatever and it will fit.
Ary Bishop |
But if Ary doesn't post within 24 hours, she'll be botted... and this isn't Iron Gods...
Okay, okay, so I'm really not funny. :|
Ehren Ferron |
One day, we will all be able to look back on this moment and laugh.
Ary Bishop |
Ary would never have been disappointed. Ary became aware pretty quickly that Hina was a weapon and didn't need one to function. :P
Hinagiku |
Try telling that to Hinagiku! :P
Sooo... do we ourselves roll the reincarnation wheel?
Ehren Ferron |
Nah. The Wheel of Reincarnation is in Kiora's hands. That's how it was with Li'an.
The order we get reincarnated in, on the other hand... Uh, I guess that would be Valaria and Isilme's call?
Markus Coffinborn |
Plus me! I'm alive!
I get a say!
My say is, of course, Ary -> Ehren -> Hinagiku
but we can probably get two at once.
Hinagiku |

So... what about Aron? Maybe Annabelle will want him to be raised/reincarnated too? No?
Ehren Ferron |
Maybe Sosiel is a badass enough cleric to raise him? :p
It's... a thing we can afford, if we really want to. Or more importantly, if Aron's soul wants to come back.
Ary Bishop |
We can probably get all three in one sitting, honestly. And it'd be sort of cool. We could even just trade bodies. Dibs on super flexy monk body.
Also, Isilme... you seem to have that backwards. ARON LEAD US TO OUR DEATHS... not the other way around.
Ehren Ferron |

You should get raised as a lamia. I'm not even joking this time. You'd have lion legs. :P

What's pretty hilarious, is that I rolled for funsies, and got catfolk. And then I realized how terrible that is for Ary being a ranger.
My luck, I'm finally going to get to play that Merfolk I've been wanting to play forever. :P
Ary Bishop |
Are you upset because of your dad (and sisters), or because you drew 'Gobble-un' in the cosmic roulette?
Also, probably a bad idea to break the news to him while he's breaking someone's leg back into place. :P
Also, Also... my vote is Ary last.
Ehren and Hinagiku can't wait. They're already being reincarnated as we speak!

Having to ask Ehren's father to scrape him off the pavement was not the heartfelt reunion I had in mind. Kiora is evil, and I love it. ;P
