I predict more fireballs and ambushes.
Ehren Ferron |
Oh, random question!
Is Hinagiku aware that demons and oni are entirely different kinds of entities? I know she uses the terms interchangeably, so I was just wondering.
Hinagiku |
Actually, having never met the oni monster type, she believes that they are the same. This is made worst by the language confusion (oni translating as demon).
Ehren Ferron |
Ah, okay, I figured it was something like that! :)
In any case, it's not as confusing as the daemon vs. demon thing. :P
Valaria Alazario |
Question: If I charge Chaleb, does haste give me a second attack or do I still only get one?
Ehren Ferron |
Full-round action to run 60 feet forward.
Valaria Alazario |
Got it. Let's do this thing. I think we have enough tricks to take down one flying demon though.
Markus Coffinborn |
He frowns, knowing that he has to boost the power of his magic in order to effect Chaleb. He shouts, "Isilme, Ary, Annabelle - you have to move forward and take on the Schirs."
Then he speaks a few words of power... 'magnus-fragor glaciem'
An icy explosion envelops Chaleb and his horse, coating them in rime.
Cold Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 2, 3) = 13 DC 18 Reflex for Chaleb and his horse for half damage.
MA to get off the horse, 5-ft. step and then cast boost burst frost fingers.

Is Chaleb's damage die supposed to be a d20? Also, Parrying that sh*t.
Parry (Charge, Heroism, Bless, Haste): 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 11 + 2 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 38

'Holy crap, when did Chaleb become a level 20 monk?' XD

Did Chaleb also get away from your Face to Face group?
Or did they meet up with Hosilla here? :0

They still haven't bumped into Hosilla again!
Chaleb did not get away from them. Here's their journal:
Black Wing is destroyed; only the facade remains. Iomede hears a crusader named Chaleb shouts “Stack the f+#$ing books better!” and ventures to investigate. Chaleb does not speak in return when yelled for. They open the doors to the Great Hall, the last remaining portion of Black Wing that still stands. Inside they see Chaleb with two Tieflings standing over 5 cowering students. The crusader is commanding them to stack books in a circle, but does not seem to realize there are not enough books to complete it.
Chaleb proclaims that the demons have taken the city and working for them is the only way to survive now. The party’s appeals fall on deaf ears and a fight begins. One of the Tieflings executes a hostage before the heroes can react. Before any more innocents die the Tieflings are killed and Chaleb is forced into submission. Begging for his life the party captures him so that he may face a trial for his crimes.
Fenna one of the wizard students being held hostage tells the heroes that Black Wing was destroyed by a man made of worms that used magic and enslaved demons to smash the buildings. She suspects that he took several important artifacts while moving through. The Worm Man killed all of the nearby Riftwardens. She also tells Iomede that Master Quednys was last seen near St. Clydwells and the Kite has been destroyed and the Wardstone along with it.
Hosilla escaped during the fight with Chaleb.
GM Kiora |
Yeah, that's why Hosilla got away :P
I believe they kicked the door down, and tried to appeal to Chaleb's better nature (which... he had none), the tiefling told them to f$!$ off or a kid eats it.
They didn't f# off, so readied CDG it was :P
You guys handled the hostage situation really well. But Iomede was roleplaying being really naive about it all. I believe he heard Chaleb's voice, and I told him he recognized him as a crusader, and he assumed it was a misunderstanding.
He's not naive about that kinda stuff anymore haha.
Valaria Alazario |
That is truly unfortunate. I hope it wasn't our tiny tiefling friend.
Ary Bishop |
;~; which kid got the axe? :(
non-sequitur: I haven't played league of legends in a long while. They basically fired their entire lore department a few years back and... they lost me with the changes. Their old lore folks wanted to tell a story. The new one just wants to sell you things. You know how it works.
Even still, I absolutely love the artwork, and music, and stuff. Their Art Department remains pretty amazing. That being said, the newest champion is amazing, conceptually. And here are two reasons why:
Just look at those themes go! Look at those masks! I NEED ANOTHER SUMMONER now.

Haha, don't know! I didn't give them different names and stuff until I ran it for you guys.
I'm less descriptive in f2f. I found that big long descriptions get forgotten anyway. Or worse, distract from something important. And I usually restrict things to 1 NPC talking in a scene anyway. So Fenna was their representative :0
Also, Iomede was a riftwarden student (he was the summoner), making the encounter more significant. Though sadly he didn't include that in his journal :(!
His first scene in the campaign was winning a summoning duel vs Fenna, pokemon style during Armasse ;D
Isilme |
Nifty! I especially like the theme piece.
Didn't ever have a chance to get into LoL, none of my friends ever really started playing it, and it seems like something that would be much more entertaining to play with other people, instead of randomly grouping. Heroes of the Storm is the same way.
Edit: I imagine it's a lot harder to keep track of all the NPC's if you don't get a chance to RP them enough to make them distinct. Otherwise it's just a list of names of people they never get to know.

I'm sure Isilme makes him very happy ;)
Ary Bishop |
Well, they understand every language, so it can't be that hard. :)
Also, I loved the jokes. :)
Also, Also... I am so glad we drew the Brimorak's fire. ;)
Imagine those crusaders eating that fireball... ;~;

There's no need to butt heads over this.
We should go ahead and quit with the trash talk.
Sorry, that joke was Baaaaaad.
What's the matter, did i get your goat?
Ary Bishop |
Does Ary know what sort of Demon she should taunt Chaleb about becoming if he doesn't change his ways?

Thoxel demons, also known as Insubordination demons, form from the souls of deserters and traitors.... those who abandoned their posts and their erstwhile allies to their fates while they sought glory elsewhere on the battlefield, or safety far from it.
They are supernaturally flogged and branded over and over for the rest of their existence, and otherwise look like hideous humanoids (covered in fresh wounds from flogging/branding).
They are fairly rare in demonic armies, though because y'know. They're insubordination demons :P

That is awesome. So very, very, very awesome. That is a perfect threat.

Running helps Hinagiku focus. The feel of the earth and stone through the thin soles of her shoes, first on her heels, then on the tip of her feet, allows her to concentrate on the movements, trying to perfect each and every one of them.
This is all she needs to recover most of her calm. Now grounded, she finds it much easier to deviate the lance aimed at her heart with a push of her own spear, to hide behind the horse right in time to avoid the fiery blast, and to jump away from the blast of cold created by Markus.
Seeing as the two brimoraks are out of her reach, Hinagiku chooses to focus on the one named Chaleb. In one deft jump, her knee lands on the man's waist, between two pieces of his armor. She follows with a quick jab to his throat, using the hand holding the potion. Finally, she applies her foot on the man's codpiece to push herself away.

Ary Bishop |
Double Move.
Ary watches the second fireball erupt... and then the iceball, for lack of a better term, shatter, leaving Chaleb on the ground. She whispers to Markus "Easy, remember, they're on our side. Hit the Brimorak with those, we can't reach him right now."
As she crosses the battlefield towards the cavalrymen, she calls out to Chaleb, "Do you know what a Thoxel is? It's a type of demon. Demons born of traitors. Men who abandoned their post and let their allies die, so they could seek glory of their own. Do you know what their job is? To get flayed and burned. For all eternity. Because even demons don't trust traitors, Chaleb. If you die here, that is all you have to gain. An eternity of torment. If you win? Same thing. Eventually, they kill you. And your eternal reward for a deserter's soul is torment. Stand down, soldier. If he surrenders do not kill him."
