Welcome to Logan! My long lost friend. Well my brother in law that I just saw last Saturday. But looking forward to this!

That depends mostly on your memory and your ability to separate player from character knowledge. With a drunk character I would expect him to be surprised by almost everything, so that wouldn't be too hard to play even if you read the whole AP books.

Saul on the other side, would have a hard time deciding what he would conclude within reason if he knew the whole AP as a player.
___________________________

As for your character build and background - Logan can join now.
Either you visit Saul, or you wait at the Clenchjaw's with a beer. It's drinking and brawling there, and the party will probably go there next, if they take the hint I gave Fhingle.

Also Private Message with a detailed look at the backstory.

Kitsune Game Master

Well, you have private messages disabled.

Logan:
YYou didn't ask for it, but as I have time I'll give you a critique of your backstory. You don't have to change it, it's just to give you a few ideas. If you don't like them, you can as well ignore them.

- Gravity of the story. It's life or death. With a backstory where you fleeing doesn't get you out of town. With a hard youth as a street kid with a lot of fights.

It's a matter of taste. I like Valeros'* backstory where he flees from a determined life as a farmer and a marriage better than Amiri's* where her tribe tries to kill her, and she retaliates in a very bloody way and has to flee then. But if you go that route I'd suggest to place your home in Egorian the capital of Cheliax and flee to Kintargo, which is on the fringe, where the influence of Thrune and the Asmodean church was very limited until recently.

* Amiri is the iconic barbarian and Valeros the iconic Fighter of Pathfinder.

Next point is the action you put into your backstory. Like Amiri killing a Frost Giant. This would have her at level four before her life as adventurer starts. You have numerous fights listed. Which would also result in experience and levels over some time.

- Continuity.
You have a couple of ideas in your backstory. And while reading it I was like: "Oh, there is the next idea." It started with the "Now Logan's parents, healers though they were, were evil to the core." After reading of a normal childhood with Logan being invested in heloping with the healing, there comes this sudden change. And then the objection of Logan to the evil deeds.

Then Logan leaves and lives on the streets.

Next idea:
Logan lives from stealing. Stealing in pathfinder is really hard. You'd get caught more often than not and you'd be known for stealing, making it even harder. That would offer more to your background if you deal with that. Or you have him drop out of stealing faster and toiling at the docks earlier.

Next idea:
Then he finds alcohol.

Next idea:
The family feels like added on. It has a tie in for Saul, but doesn't have any effect on Logan's life before, and will not have effect after as they are gone now.

Closure:
The part with beating up a dottari, ending in Jail and being released later, is really nice and fits in the adventure perfectly.

Suggestion to get the good ideas more connected:
I'd start with the parents in Egorian, with Logan opposing his parents way of life from the start, only reluctantly serving as he despises their ways. Which would give them another reason to put their kid to good use as a sacrifice. He'd then flee to Kintargo, living in the streets, getting caught stealing, getting a beating for it. As getting beaten doesn't feed him, instead he goes working at the docks to earn his food and his beer to drown his miserable childhood. Even at work he got into regular brawls especially when drunk, as well as on his regular visits to the Thrashing Badger.

Getting Saul in:
To get Saul in he'd only need to be helpful with information and and willing to aid when things could go rough for a few coins. They could have met at the Thrashing Badger and Saul hired him for regular intel what happened at the docks and for his fists when a case got rough. They got close, when working on an abduction case of a girl Logan knew and liked.

Family:
If you want to keep the family in, then it should be of some interest to Logan what has become of them. If he doesn't care enough to leave the beer alone, I'd leave them out. Which would be better anyway, as you don't need a lost family when you join a rebellion.

At will - As a standard action, that provokes, Salonius can write a strongly worded note and throw it at an enemy. The enemy must succeed at a Will Save (DC is Salonious' Perform(Oratory) roll) or be shaken for 1d4 rounds.

LOL, except its kinda better that its likely to be wholly ineffectual, an expression of impotent rage at a world with an impertinent lack of interest in botanical horticulture.

Foxy- you aren't giving me much here... anyway to make friends? Give beer? Anything else? The description of the dragon was good but not convertible to practical action. I guess the other option would be a remove invisibility scroll but that is more Salonius' expertise.

Kitsune Game Master

Someone got an idea where Salonius got lost?

The dragon can cast greater invisibility three times a day. And as of now is not invisible but only hidden. I didn't want to jump on with Salonius standing there staring at the lamp and seein the dragon to still standing there with everything done without him.

Your little dragon has an int of 16, a wis of 14 and speaks common- besides other languages (elven, draconic, sylvan, spoken and in telepathy).

Besides that it's a dragon, and we all know what dragons like: gold.

S has disappeared from a game he is GM'ing. Same time frame- May 21. It has only been a week so likely no need for panic, but I want to reassure you that Saul Gibson, PI, is following the clues and attempting to locate our missing friend.

You should read up on the abilities of a fairy dragon. It's really just a prankster and he would stand no chance against someone who wants to get rid of him. He can tag along on your missions for some banter with peeko and a few nice SLAs with really low DCs as minor boon and some scouting. But setting him on the Opera House or the temple of Asmodeus will be a short detour, as they will make short shrift of him.

How would they ever find him?

edit: I suppose clerics would be able to remove invisibility. Maybe he could disrupt the low level foot soldiers who do patrols? No chance of being found really, and could fly away given trouble.

The whatever they are the people who are taking matters into their own hands and harming the regular people would be good for him to mess with

You should think more along the line of what's the most fun.

Of course Vendalfek can fly around town and mess with the dottari. But what would you gain if some mooks fall on their asses at night. You wouldn't even notice as he would be out alone.

Of course I can add him to the Tengu group and have them do some stuff together. But that would mostly also happen without your notice. You'd get some intel from that group and if I have time maybe some actual story for that, just for the fun of it. Which your characters wouldn't be aware of.

But I think the most fun and effect would you have, if you use him as an distraction for your own shenanigans. A dottari falling on his ass has much more effect, if that dottari was on his way to disrupt your workings. Or a started fight inside a dottari group, a a distraction.

Vendalfek lived in a bar because with the little he can do he causes a lot of effect with the chain reaction in human interaction. He is in there for the fun. Not so much for the greater good.

I like the idea of taking him with us as a distraction. We were certainly distracted by a fight in the bar. He could do something similar to our benefit if we needed people to look the other way for a while.

too funny

Kitsune Game Master

Thrune is not interested in bars. And in the better areas of town the buildings are mostly made of stone. But that is no problem. Even Sstone buildings burn down if you bring enough fuel.

I don't have more than you have. If you want to go big style you can always go for the prison Salonius was in. But you should consider, that Thrune can smile at a burnt down building and tell the towns citizens his condolences.

Can you do that too? And can you make sure no one gets away with a description of yours? You're still second level.

Also I need Saul at his office sometimes in the future. As that is the only place someone searching for him would find him. As long as the Longroad Coffee House stays a secret.

You could burn down a nobles house. One that is true to the Thrunes.

ok! We will file that one away for the future...

This is a difficult game for me. You have warned us away from anything that would expose us too much. But then I feel that talking to ANYONE exposes us too much. And at second level, we do lack the power to really do much of anything and I am left scratching my head.

I guess we just need your continued prodding and plot hooks moving us forward. We can't really handle a true sandbox yet because options that don't get us killed are very limited.

Kitsune Game Master

You left the "We have a real life and do a rebellion part time" very fast. The events are not enough to fill the time, when you go at that speed. And I have the first people who want to join your rebellion. But as you gave them no address...

Building your rebellion can work if you do the stuff catching attention, and your followers spreading the word. Which would leave you hidden.

Liberty's Edge

We got Maggie and her Tengu, and our dragon... though they are more like paid staff.

Our tiefling friends weren't willing to commit...

That Tengu weaponsmith never showed up at the coffeehouse...

Who else did we reach?

I'm just kind of struggling a bit in what I should be doing. Things feel sandboxy, but not, at the same time.

Kitsune Game Master

If you run from one thing to the next you don't give me time for the NPCs to react. This AP proceeds in theory through weeks. Not hours.

And the easiest thing to do, especially for Saul is
a) to sit a few hours in his office, for me to send people his way, and
b) to run around asking his contacts about what is going on, for which I can give you town gossip. Which leads to the next things to happen.

You can also send your rebellion teams out to do things. The tengus are able to gather information too.

And of course this is a sandbox, and you could in theory do everything. I'm just telling you ooc, that I'm not going to let Thrune look the other way, if you start s~@% on a large scale.

Liberty's Edge

I never feel like I am rushing, but maybe I am.

Do we have rebellion teams? Or maybe that is something that is building. Because I have this trait and it doesn't seem like it does anything yet. It actually seems kinda metagamey.

Natural Born Leader

You treat your Charisma score as if it were 14 (or 2 points higher than its actual score if your actual Charisma is already 14 or higher) for the purposes of determining how many teams you can manage in the rebellion, and for the purposes of determining the bonus you add to your managed teams' actions. In addition, you gain a +1 trait bonus to your Leadership score if you take the Leadership feat.

Kitsune Game Master

The tengus are a team, and you get another one, as soon as you talk to the tiefling. Beyond that you get teams as the number of supporters rise.

I think the rebellion minigame is not that exciting. But to make your trait worth it, you can manage up to three teams and send them on missions and all of them gain a bonus from you being the manager. I'd say your Cha bonus on gather information. If you have ideas beyond that, tell me. We're going to make this interesting.

Fushi Sisters: If the PCs recruit Maggie Fushi and her sisters as a team, the four tengus function as a specialized group that grants the Earn Gold and the Gather Information rebellion actions.

I'm still considering vigilantte levels, after level 4. All of this Jackdaw talk is Saul perhaps subconsciously planning for his emergence as a superhero with that name. That is why I keep pushing it, so you know! Just character development stuff. Still a long time to 4, so just keeping it as a possible option. As Foxy knows, I've already changed my mind about 3 times on Saul's future plans. But basically Sleuth is pretty worthless after level 4 so there isn't much of a point continuing as an investigator.

did Doggo eat our dragon?

Tieflings: You got a team of street performers now. According to the PG they can gather information. And spread the word about the Ravens through art. As you got the option to find out yourself with a good roll, tell me if they should go and ask around.

Foxy: Is it my Cha bonus + 1 for this bonus, that is sort of what the trait implies (Having the trait treats you as a Cha 14, and if you already have 14 then the trait acts like a 16. So a bonus of +3)

Kitsune Game Master

As you see with the roll, it's +3 for your improved Cha and +1 for the tier of the team.
