It should be noted that I, personally, disagree with slavery/treating people poorly in general. However, Meliandri grew up with it.
It should be noted that I, personally, disagree with devil worshipping and killing people in general.
However, I feel bound to the setting this adventure takes place in.:P

@Salonius' speech. Damn boy. I wish Saul was there to hear it and yell a few amen's.

@Salonius' speech. Damn boy. I wish Saul was there to hear it and yell a few amen's.
Yeah, and then he could start the preaching that Salonius didn't do. Like
"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.’
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice and sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today!”

"Pfft, as if you never catch the magnificent Peeko, you smelly mongrel bag of fleas! You never catch Peeko! You have not even seen Peeko's stealth score it is so high! Peeko's stealth is super high! Now go away and eat horse poop, you slobbering stinky cartchasing wannabe wolf!"

I guess Masterwork tools are another slightly hinky rules element, I have no idea what would give you the +2 for painting. Maybe some kind of extendable poll? Did rollers exist in ye olden days?
Saul Gibson |
Go ahead and improvise this backstory foxy. I have nothing in mind other than sauls dad was fisherman and Saul did that for a few years before becoming a PI.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
You can second guess Mels and get more, but right now the challenge is going to be getting all this stuff back to the Long Roads Coffeehouse. If you want to ask for more and make it "masterwork", be my guest.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Yeah, it'd be a conflict for sure. She's already planning on dragging Ashana to the hideout (and probably leaving her there, though Laria might object), but people she doesn't know and trust would be a different story.
Saul Gibson |
A new rowboat is 50 gold. Kinda expensive, but might save our lives. Go for it?
Saul Gibson |
I remember you said it was a warship. Uh... does Chelaxian mean it belongs to the Thrune government? My Golarian history is not very good.
Salonius Barradin |
For fifty gp it seems like a good option to have. I imagine it would be a while before we are a bigger enough thorn to have a warship on standby in case we escape in a hypothetical rowboat. Plus we could acquire some appropriate disguises, maybe use Wisened Appearance to all look forty years older. Maybe create an illusory fog blank that blocks the warships view, etc. We would probably do well to check out what the most common forms of boat traffic are and do some prep work so we can blend in.
Saul Gibson |
Fhingle will throw in for it
No need, Fhingle. We can afford it with our party fund, if everyone agrees.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
It's not a bad idea. I'm good with doing it.
EDIT: I'm not exactly sure how we're going to get this junk back to the secret lair.
Saul Gibson |
And Saul is walked to the plank, wearing a nice new pair of cement trousers.
I guess it will be a much more circumspect visit than I was planning.
Salonius Barradin |
Salonius certainly is not paying for the pile of stuff, and I do not think Meliandri did either? Salonius is pretty sure this is not what Fhingle wanted, otherwise he would not have asked a scrawny botanist and a Lady to get it for him. I just want to buy the fancy brushes for the time being.

Looks like there are a variety of fishing options! (of course, this game....) Saul bought the deluxe version, feeling rich and all. He leaves it in the boat, so others can go out if they want.
Foxy Quickpaw |
Sorry, I still got no idea what you bought for this 20gp. Fishing and hunting gear has
Fishhook 1 sp
Net, bell 2 gp
Net, butterfly 5 gp
Netting, camouflage 20 gp
Net, fishing 4 gp
Scent cloak 20 gp
Trap, bear 2 gp
I'm fine with you wasting 20gp on a fishing rod made of solid gold. I'm just wondering where that is written.
Salonius Barradin |
This possibly?
Fishing Tackle

I am seriously considering a level or two in vigilante. Saul is getting to the point of wanting to do more, and he needs an alternate identity... It would probably just be a dip. I need to think more about how it would work and if I would want to take an archetype with it. I am also wondering if anyone wanted to do this with me. Super hero team?
Foxy Quickpaw |
I think I told earlier: To play dress up you need no vigilante class. Only if it gives you something you couldn't achieve oterwise or only with going to great length, you don't need it.
So far I have no clue what good the vigilante is, so I'd look into this with you to get an idea about what you're doing.
Saul Gibson |
I've done a little bit with the vigilante. What makes it appealing to me is that you get such great bonuses on your disguise checks that it makes it almost impossible that anyone will figure who you are.
It also provides some class feats that you aren't going to get from normal feats. Since I lose all alchemy abilities going with a sleuth, there is not really all that much to look forward with in an investigator for me, at least not past level 4. I maybe even consider making vigilante my full time class to get some of these class feats. I would probably taken the "avenger" subtype which gets full BAB, and try to become more of a fighting asset to the party but then have all the skill bonuses of an investigator. That sounds fun to me.
(Sleuth is actually a really really lame archetype. Except for the RP potential of it!)
Salonius Barradin |
Aha, but what if I couple it with Wizened Appearance, an old black haired Salonius! Any idea of a price for hair dye BTW GM Foxy? I cannot find it listed anywhere.
Salonius Barradin |
I guess improve his attitude, a sort of testing the waters super initial, early, cautious, pre flirt? It must be hard being homosexual in a society where it is decidedly frowned upon, so everyone is firmly in the closet, and you are pretty much more interested in combining varieties of millet and don't make a lot of time for that sort of thing ;)
Foxy Quickpaw |
Well, for a flirt to work someone would have to notice the flirt. I thought this was a nervous displacement activity because of the assignment.
The professor has an at least friendly attitude towards you. But I don't think, there is a romantic reaction included in the diplomacy skill description. And even if there was no frown upon homosexuality, you'd still have to hit on someone like minded AND interested.
Salonius Barradin |
Makes a lot of sense, and as I say it was more of a pre flirt, as getting outed could be potentially ruinous. More a throw off bit of RP not something I am worried about :)
Salonius Barradin |
Oh boy, in fairness I have always thought they were black like normal ravens when transformed, but reading that they retain hardness it is certainly a reasonable interpretation. These things are about as useful as a kick in the teeth for a rebellious undercover organization. Can we paint them?
Salonius Barradin |
LOL, I'll ask in character, but thanks! How annoyed would Mels be at spending a couple of hours as Ashana's miad ;) Kidding I think that would be worse for Ashana.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
It should be noted that Charm isn't Mind Control. You can make suggestions, and those suggestions will be viewed as favorably as possible, but you can't make someone do something they'd never do if not charmed.
Salonius Barradin |
You can make an opposed charisma check though, and if you make that it virtually is, Mel's would be significantly better at it.
The spell does not enable you to control the charmed person as if it were an automaton, but it perceives your words and actions in the most favorable way. You can try to give the subject orders, but you must win an opposed Charisma check to convince it to do anything it wouldn’t ordinarily do. (Retries are not allowed.) An affected creature never obeys suicidal or obviously harmful orders, but it might be convinced that something very dangerous is worth doing. Any act by you or your apparent allies that threatens the charmed person breaks the spell. You must speak the person’s language to communicate your commands, or else be good at pantomiming.
