So GM Foxy, it is up to yourself how you would like me to come in, since I have my bearing of going to Lepidstadt I could have had to stop in town to get my ox reshoed or something like that. Heard of the great mystery that is going on in Ravengro.

Foxy Quickpaw |

The great mystery is three days old. And your're over a day away from the next not so big hamlet. As the group is heading to Kendra's house I suggest you meet them on the way from the temple to that house. That's from E to N on the Ravengro map.
Let's see if you're able to resist the urge to directly invite yourself into the group. I'm no specialist in bovines but I doubt that cloven hoofed animals get irons. As oxen are out of style for agriculture there is nothing to be found with a fast look on the internet about that.
I'll set the start for the meeting.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Sorry about that, took the kids to Rogue One and forgot my phone. Back now.
Wait 800 GP? I'm looking at the prd and only seeing 500 for a 4 strength composit longbow, and I'd be willing to settle for a 2 or 3 stregth one.
Not sure how you are getting 800 unless you are making it masterwork and that's too ritch for me.

Darius Redgrave |

Sorry guys was a super busy day yesterday. So didn't get time to post.
On what to sell, what do we know about the Shining Crusade and is that medallion magical?

Foxy Quickpaw |

Stam is right. And if you want to make it magic later you should invest the gold for making it masterwork or you throw your bow away at half price and buy a new one.
You'll get 150gold for every masterwork chainmail, and about 150gold for every masterwork weapon. Masterwork studded leather is 80gold. So you have the money, even if it is a bit above your share. But I guess your companions are willing to help out there as it ensures their life too.
About the medallion. It's shiny ;)

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Hmmm. If I did go whole hog your right... This would be the last ranged weapon I ever have to buy. I could simply enchant it later when I need to. But oh the cost for a non primary weapon...
For many years all of my characters were all full spell casters. This is my first fighter in over a decade. I am totally not used to plunking serious money into weapons!

Foxy Quickpaw |

Problem is, that bows are very specific to the wielder. You almost never find one that matches what you need. And being 2 below you possible damage hurts. If it was your primary weapon you could buy an adaptive bow later to be done with it once and forever. But that's another price category again.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

I would suggest dividing it as GM Foxy says. I spent my cash, you all keep your full shares and spend it on whatever you want... I am very sure there are potions scrolls or wands you will want down the line.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

If you all want me to dial back on the roleplay so we can get back to the dungeon just let me know. I don't want to make you all get bored while I play around.

Darius Redgrave |

Haha, I think that Darius will be asleep for a few hours. But I think there's fun at the Inn to be had if we're not gonna hit Harrowstone in the evening?
Spugs? Stam?

Brother Grergof Varsk |

As a player I have to say I enjoy both...
It's been a long time since I've played a character who is simply... well good.
Not looking out for number one, not trying for a long term goal. Just looking at the common people around him and helping where he can. Add to that the fact that Grergof doesn't really care about stuff all that much and it makes role playing so simple with this character...
Of course combats like the one we just had tickle the other side of my brain. The Engineering training in me has always loved the min maxing and optimizing side of Pathfinder. It's like one of this chess puzzles where you have to checkmate a king with only a bishop and knight... The challenge being to make sure I keep roleplaying during combat AND not steal too much of the spotlight...
Luckally I don't think the last is too much of an issue here due to playing a Paladin. I can do a few things well but am never going to do much beyond wacking single creatures Reslly hard and talking well. Two things my companions seem to be not focusing on.
Finally: As for the day.... Merry Christmas all. Tomorrow and the 25th will actually be realatively normal days for me, but expect me to mostly disappear the 26th and one day later that week as we celebrate a few times with family and friends...

Darius Redgrave |

Personally I'm not a fan of min maxing. I feel it's one of things where it's more often than not, used by a roleplayer who ends up making everyone else at the table feel bad cos they didn't figurine out how to maximize whatever they're playing.
I prefer more interesting characters. Not to say that a person can't have both.
In the words of a friendly neighborhood guy, with great power comes great responsibility to everyone at the table.
And yup Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! I'm going to be pretty busy the 24th and 25th with family gatherings and whatnot but I'll post when I can. .

Brother Grergof Varsk |

@Darius That is exactly why I have to fight serious min-maxing so hard in any PBP games. At the table you can read body language and dial it back when needed, on a message board it's quite a bit harder.
That said it's hard to not do it. My job is in software and in doing it I've had years training my brain to see what is most efficent way to do things, how to quickly find patterns and unconciously do cost benifit analysis of a given option. Add to that many years of playing or running 3.x version of this game and in many cases the clearly optimized choice just jumps out.
All that is to say: If I'm doing anything that is making the game not fun for you, then tell me and we can work on stopping that behavior. I may not be realizing I'm doing it and as such you telling me is probably a huge help.

Darius Redgrave |

@Grergof Yup. No worries. This game has been great fun so far. It's just that when you brought up minmaxing here I just thought I'd mention my view cos I've played with some before. And that style of play stresses me whenever I level up cos I question my choices constantly. Less so with players who aren't optimizing.
Usually when I'm running a game I have a rule that everyone must be good at something the others aren't. Which helps a lot. But yeah this game I think everyone feels useful or at least I hope they do. For me these games are all about fun and escapism.
My biggest problem is I have too many character ideas and not enough games to play them in.

Darius Redgrave |

Totally miscalculated the time. And then went and changed my spells. Crap. Hmm... Maybe Darius should wake up and hit the inn.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

I swear if any one of the horrible things that I'm envisioning for Jominda happens, I'm never initiating roleplay with an unnessary One of your NPCs again!
I knew I should have warned the nursemaid on my way out!

Foxy Quickpaw |

Ok, you asked for it: First I thought manticles are some mean appendages on elder horrors. A combination of mandibles and testicles. Enabling them to bite and 'teabag' you at the same time.
But aunt google tells that these are replacement testicles. Meaning Grergof hands around a set of iron balls. :P
Assuming silicone is unknown to Golarion.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

@Stam. You really need to come up with a better reason to be around or to come to the Harrowstone because right now Grergof is looking at you as another townsperson at best or a spy for the Whispering way sent to clean up after them at worse.
GM any suggestions?

Brother Grergof Varsk |

@Grergof
The things you had at your arms and that Stam is looking at at the moment are MANACLES. If you write manticles again I start making bad jokes about what these might be.
Is this the first time you noticed that my spelling is horrible?
If I don't have autocorrect and am just guessing at the word I have maybe a 50% chance of getting it right. And that's with me making an attempt to look it up first. My wife teases me about it all the time.
So go ahead and joke away,I totally deserve anything you dish out here.

Foxy Quickpaw |

You making errors is just a thing happening. Sometimes it might even be the autocorrect of your mobile phone. Like the town console that is a council. And usually I just ignore it.
But if you are using a word that is not a word at all and you keep using it even though I give you the ooc hint in gameplay and Spugnoir makes a joke about manatee in his sleep and ignore my warning in discussion then you deserve it :P
Also I'm not good at ignoring it. Do you know Monk? The tv series? It's not as bad but it is similar in that it drives me crazy to see it wrong again and again.
