Grergof will take both the dagger and ring if you all think that's best.

Foxy Quickpaw |

I suggest that at least one of you takes a rank in knowledge(dungeneering) and maybe one or two other knowledge skills. For these cave dwellers are no problem if you know what they are. But if you don't you could easily be crippled by a CR2 ooze.
With a complete prison full of rubble your Not A. Puddle is really easy to fight. Pick up some stones and throw them at it. It is so slow that you even can move away, pick up a stone on the way, throw it and stay out of reach.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

You really had me hit it on a 1?
I take it back all the mean things I said about you!!!!
I thought for sure the grey ooze was going to eat my armor!
And GM Foxy is right, we really should coordinate to cover all the knowledge skills. Only thing I know is religion, with my only other class skill being nobility.
What do other people have/could cover?

Foxy Quickpaw |

I only saw that you rolled a one after I wrote the post. And a 8 is a solid hit on that thing so who cares. But it wouldn't be beyond me forcing you to get some of your lousy starting equipment replaced ;)
For the armor eating there are the rust monsters later in the adventure :P

Brother Grergof Varsk |

For the armor eating there are the rust monsters later in the adventure :P
In that case probably my favorite image from the 1E DMG may come true ;)

Foxy Quickpaw |

Oh no! Rustmonsters! Let's put our Mage to good use!
Yes, because he is an improvised non metal bludgeoning weapon ;)
As for the inviting yourself. It's one thing to invite yourselfinto the group to clear the Harrowstone (bad), but another thing to seek travel companions for the dangerous bandit infested way to Lepidstadt you're all doing anyway. At least once you know they go there.
But it would also be interesting if you go first and are already there when the events starting the next AP take place.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

comprehend languages was the spell that was ruined.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

I strongly considered that one as well as Rally Point.
I also looked at Honeyed tongue as we probably will not be in combat but I wasn't sure how you play this. It is magic. So does it act like charm and end up lowering people's additude after the interaction as you used magic on them?

Foxy Quickpaw |

Honeyed tongue is cast on yourself and lasts 10min/CL. So noone has to see you casting it and it just vastly improves your rhetorical abilities.
Bless is nice, but I don't see a front line melee character cast it in combat. And I tend to forget to cast at all with a paladin therefore the preference for Hero's Defiance. Because dying is a strong reminder that you still have a spell :P
That changes of course, once the litany spells are available. But interestingly enough these are also swift actions to cast which allows the paladin to do what he's best at: hitting hard.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Litany spells? Not familiar with those. Where do those come from?

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Ahh I see them. 2nd level spells are 3 levels away so I didn't even look at them.
I don't own any of the ultimate books so I wasn't even aware that they exist.

Foxy Quickpaw |

You're welcome to have fun in town for the next three weeks or so until the 30 days are over and you proceed to Lepidstadt (or you can tell me once enough fun is had and you want me to fast forward). But this part of the the adventure gives you no more clues about the whereabouts of that necromancer.
And I have a hard time making some up as: Guy appeared at the Harrowstone at night and left some time later without being seen by anyone but the now dead Professor leaves not many clues and no tracks now that it's about two weeks since the Professor's death.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Oh come now, it's the classic: I'm an adventure writer who has not seen the big bad write up in module x, but I need to include him, so I am going to give you the minimum info I have and leave you guessing till the plot Railroad gets there.
So are there other interesting NPCs we didn't talk to in town? If not then the only thing I think we have to do in the next 30 days are:
Let the town council know we finished the job
Play matchmaker with the sheriff and Jolinda
Return the ladder.

Foxy Quickpaw |

Indeed it has some continuity issues. But that helps a lot to convince you to do your part in the second AP, or you would run past that to get him.
In town you could check out
The Silk Purse which is a pawn office
The Unfurling Scroll
Besides that there is nothing more to do but the things you listed already. But if you want I can post some 'rats in the cellar' quest at the posting poles as job offer ;)
The most interesting thing that offers itself in the meantime is Gibs Hephenus. Because he faces a trial for assault or even attempted murder. And even though he is a jerk, it was totally not his fault.

Darius Redgrave |

Ah okay. Um what's the rest of the group vote for?
I don't mind fast forwarding to the next part. Need to use my keen sword on summin. Hehe.

Foxy Quickpaw |

A little resting would help as someone might want to check on their gear once the council confirms that the haunting is gone and some money comes your way. Or Stam would like to copy some spells.
By the way, if someone takes a look at the cursed items in the next time you notice that the blood smear on the axe is gone.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Honestly didn't read this before I wrote the last post...
Hmmm any other changes to the cursed items? Are they uncursed or do we need to melt them down?
I kinda would like to grab a silver holy symbol of Sarenrae if it is uncursed. Partially in remeberance, and partially to work off any evil the item was used for in the past.
And Yes, I'm well aware that my best weapon is damaged. I was going to stop and get it fixed or replace it.

Darius Redgrave |

Ah nuts, I was away and didn't have time to post. I totally wanted to do the bait and switch and set up a dinner with Jominda and the sheriff haha...
Hmm... maybe there's a way to still do that.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

ahh small town gossip, now I really do feel like we have gone from a horror story to a soap opera! ;)

Darius Redgrave |

After setting up the sheriff and Jominda I totes wanna start killing monsters again so we should fast forward yes??

Foxy Quickpaw |

If no one else wants to do something in town I would FF to tomorrow (after dinner) when the Council shows up and pays you.
If no one wants to buy something from Jorfa and no non LG character wants to take advantage of the pawn shop then I'd FF that directly through a short goodbye and onto the road again.
Please state at which points you want to throw in a few personal words with the NPCs so I'd pause there.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Ok question. What does the 1 point of damage on my flail actually do in game?
I figured I would replace that with an adamantium magic Flail at some point but wasn't sure if it was worth spending the money to fix or replace it before I have the funds.

Foxy Quickpaw |

Rules Information:
An item counts as broken once it has taken in excess of half their hit points. Before that the only thing is that you're closer at that condition.
This isn't about your damaged weapon, and I'm not trying to push you to replace it because of that.
Also you know three people who are able to fix that. And two of them would probably not charge you to do so. The third also wouldn't if you ask nicely but would try to sell you something of better quality.
I'm just keep reminding you as I tend to have special desires about the equipment for my characters that you can't afford for your starting money and usually don't find in treasure. And none of you have bought anything yet (besides the bow). And you're level 4 already.
For Magic stuff you probably wait for Lepidstadt as you'll get quite some money there and find someone who's able to sell it. But if you can afford an adamantine flail, then buy it. You can have that improved later for the magic enchantment without problem.
