Graythan frowns as Drevoraz falls and after regarding the fallen pirate for a moment shrugs. "Fool pirates. Your lives are needlessly spent for this." He snaps off a quick shot at the remaining foe and the bolt slams deeply into the frogman's back.

@Justified - The blue rectangle are the hostages. Fanguar stated this in an earlier post. 'You can move through it, but it counts as difficult terrain'.
Moira modifies her position in order to flank the creature.

Ah, prisoners. That makes sense. Thanks. Also you should have hit If Justifed tripped. Its AC would go down by 4.

Justified's correct, Moira should have hit
Mora's damage: 1d6 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (1, 1) = 8
Flat on his back and bleeding from numerous wounds, the the frogman croaks in accented common, "Dagon take you all!" He presents a crude bone talisman and waves of agony radiate out from him.

Lavinia cries out in pain and writhes in her chair as the darkness washes over her. One of the Raven Ravens let's out a rasping gurgle and with a shudder, settles into death. The other let's out a moan, but still breathes.

Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Stunned from the damage Justified complains No one every gives up any more. He waits for Moira to attack before attacking himself, falling unconscious and beginning to bleed with the effort. His weapon does not clatter to the floor but stays attached to the locking gauntlet on his right hand.

Moira, Justified waited for you to act, so you are still flanking and should get sneak, and a +4 to hit for him being prone. Note that being prone does not, by itself make someone flat footed though. Also you take 7, not 10. The DC was 10 and you took half of the 14 damage.

Savarend feels the bite of the negative energy wash over him, and responds with his own holy magic. He draws his symbol of Moradin intones a quick prayer. White, soft light suffuses his body and his wounds knit together.

Between Justified's sacrifice and Moira's finesse, they send the foul cleric to meet his god.
Justfied is currently dying. One of the hostages is dying (this will be Bronwenir @ -9 hp) and the two others are dead.
Lavinia struggles at her bonds. "Someone untie me." Looking at Moira she adds, "These fiends piled our gear over by my bed. There should be two healing potions in the mix (one CLW one CMW)"
Loot:Scimitar +1(DC18), Belt of giant's strength +2(DC23), leather armour +1(DC18), headband of inspired wisdom +2 (DC23), MWk Spear, MWK studded leather.
Graythan Fist
Graythan rushes to the bed and roots around quickly for the potions Lavinia described. Rushing back, he tosses one (clw) to Moira for Justified as he himself kneels beside the dying hostage and pours the potion down his throat.
Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (4, 7) + 3 = 14

Having fallen at an awkward angle slightly propped up by his grip on his pole arm, Justified remains unconscious but his wounds stop bleeding.
Con Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
A cleric channel is both better and saves resources Graythan. That potion is worth 300 gold. Plus you cannot move to it, pick it up, move to the unconscious person, and administer it in a single round. Heck, you cannot do it in two rounds if the person who needs the potion is not adjacent to where it was as its a full round action to administer a potion to an unconscious person. Too bad you do not have Stabilize or a curing spell.
Bronwenir
OK I was waiting to see if Graythan administering the potion was going to be changed, but it doesn't look like it.
As Graythan pours the magic potion down his throat, the slashes and cuts across the elf's bare chest close up, the blood ceases to dribble out onto the floor, and his ashen complexion improves. His eyes flutter open and he blinks, focusing on the inquisitor's face. "I guess I must be alive, since you don't look like any angel I've ever heard of," he says with a wry grin.
He looks about. "Mistress Lavinia? Are you alright? What's happened?"
Moira Greyshadow
Moira cradles Justified, his head lying on her lap as she rock back and forth. She then goes to her belt and pulls forth a potion. She opens it and pours the contents in the big man's mouth.
Administering potion of Cure Light Wounds.
GM Fanguar
Wand of CLWs would save the day.
Lavinia turns Bronwenir, "I am as fine as can be expected," she looks sadly at the dead, "and much better than some of our friends."
Looking to the PCs she asks, "Did you find my brother? These fiends broke in here looking for him. And what was all that business with the pirate and the earring?"
Justified*
|
Sputtering slightly from the potion Justified opens his eyes and pushes himself from the floor. He blinks a few times and tries to get his bearings, his wounds obviously still quite bad. How long was I out?
Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Bronwenir
Bronwenir stands slowly, wincing as his still-injured muscles complain. He checks Tolin, and shakes his head sadly. "Poor fellow. Guess he just couldn't hold on. Where are Kaskus and Zan?"
Justified*
|
Slowly getting to his feet, Justified tries to understand the conversation. He moves to Lavinia's side and begins to free her from any constraints. We have word on your brother. Another trail I am afraid. These fiends hoped to kill you as a way to get revenge on your brother. They were unaware of your estranged relationship and thought they could cause him misery with your death. I am sorry for the deaths of your servants. It is a high price to pay, but the world is a better place with the death of these two.
He moves to the bodies of the pirates to make sure they are indeed dead. After which he begins to separate them from their loot. He works slowly, favoring his wounds and notes. I am hurt more deeply that I thought. I will require significant healing or rest before I can continue.
GM Fanguar
Justified and Moira would know who Bronwenir, Kaskus and Zan are, but just barely. You all met in passing at the start of the first adventure. Graythan and Savarend have not.
Lavinia looks grim, "So my brother escapes justice once again and leaves behind more violence in his wake. Best not to worry about it now. Did you manage to eliminate the rest of the intruders on your way up here? There were many and as Bron mentioned, there are still two other Ravens missing. Did you find any sign of them?"
Justified*

We dispatched 4 frogmen in the great hall m'lady. But we have not searched the entire property. Savarend, have you any healing you can spare for me? I am in no shape for another fight at the moment.
I do not know how we would know what each loot item is at the moment.
Bronwenir
Bronwenir is pretty clearly male -- he's bare-chested and wearing dancing pants, which aren't skin tight but don't leave one wondering, either.
"I'm pretty bad off myself, though I can make it very hard to hit me," says Bronwenir, locating a wand in the pile of gear and using it to conjure a magical armor over his body.
Mage Armor, duration 1 hr
"We must find the others, even if they are dead."
Graythan Fist
"Agreed," Graythan says with a nod as he rises. He takes a moment to reload his crossbow before adding, "We've swept the second floor, if they are still here they're likely on the first." He waits stiffly and a little impatiently for the others to prepare, then takes up his typical position in the rear of the group as they head back downstairs.

A large part of the fighter's woulds close and he stands a little straiter. My thanks to both you and Moradin. Lets be about securing the property. He retrieves a small bottle and downs the content and then turns his attention back to the loot they have acquired. Can someone detect magic on this lot? I have a good feeling about this belt here.
Potion of Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Have we indeed cleared this level of the house? And here is a repost of the Loot: Scimitar +1(DC18), Belt of giant's strength +2(DC23), leather armour +1(DC18), headband of inspired wisdom +2 (DC23), MWk Spear, MWK studded leather.
Graythan Fist
Graythan glances over at Justified and his eyes flash in the dim light, "While you're fawning over fashion accessories, the remaining pirates may be having their bloody way with the missing servants, Justified. We can worry about the belt and whatever other trinkets you've found once everyone is safe."
Justified*
|
Shooting Graythan a look of displeasure Justified retorts I am not blocking the door. You go ahead and get the fight started while I take advantage of the gear we have just found. You will have to forgive me for wanting to be as prepared as I might be.
GM Fanguar
Zing!
This level is free of enemies. Since this is Lavinia's house, I don't imagine that you will be going around riffling through drawers looking for treasure.
@All: More gear: It was Tolin's, but he's dead now so dig in. +1 chain shirt (DC18, but Lavinia is going to claim it for the time being), two masterwork shortswords, a composite longbow (+2 Strength), 40 arrows, a cloak of resistance+1 (DC20)
Lavinia rubs at here rope chaffed wrists and shrubs into the oversized chain shirt. Picking out the bits and pieces of her belongings, she puts in a pair of emerald earrings and several rings. Reaching under the bed, she pulls out a gleaming rapier and works it through a couple of maneurvers with practiced ease.
"Grow up children. My house is infested with vermin and my friends are dead. I intend on reclaiming my manor and administering justice. Are you ready to earn you pay?"
There is time to identify, it takes like a minute.

"That scimitar's magic, it'll be more accurate and bite deeper. The headband increases perceptiveness and insight -- probably would be good for any divines among you lot. Well, I guess I'm with you, so among US. The armor is magically strengthened leather, and the cloak has a general protective aura, to put it in layman's terms," Bronwenir says as he scans the items. "I'm afraid I'm not sure about the belt. The one you defeated was wearing it, right? Probably safe to wear, then. It has an aura of transmutation magic, so I'd guess it makes you stronger, faster, or hardier. Or maybe turns you into a newt, but hey, I'm sure you'll get better," the elf finishes with a wink.
Bronwenir
Bronwenir chuckles, "I can prove which I am later if you wish, but right now... Alright. This headband is designed to inspire you magically. With it, your prayers and spells may be more effective, you may notice things you would otherwise miss, and your mind may be more organized and resistant to distraction or control. It has more effect after wearing it for 24 hours. I'd say, best to put it on right away. Speaking of prayers and spells, if you have enough remaining, I would find a curing spell quite useful. If not, well, I'll have to be careful."
Savarend Whiteroot
Maybe I'm being oblivious, but has the bonus for the headband been posted?
"I... Don't know whether to be excited about that or not." Savarend is somewhat leery of the unconfirmed gender of this new elf. He wondered, briefly, whether the trees that lay eggs that hatch elves determine whether an elf is male or female. He shrugged it off. "Healing through the beneficence of Moradin."
