Glad the GM has a good sense of humor with nerfing a powerful BBEG like that :P

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Meh, it's fun for the GM to beat up the PCs once in a while (and I think that makes it more exciting for the players anyways than just waltzing through stuff) but I know as a player it's also sometimes awesome to plow down something that could have killed you in another round or two so I don't mind when that happens on occasion.

Reign of Winter-not really any spoilers, considering one of the books is called Rasputin Must Die:
Of course the point of the whole AP is to take down Queen Elvanna (something you learn early on so I'm not spoiling much; besides the sixth book is "The Witch Queen's Revenge") and she is the BBEG at the end of the AP. Her fight actually ended up being a bit disappointing because my players pulled high init over her minions and rushed past them to get to her. She went down in two rounds and then they just had to clean up her minions.

However, I wasn't too upset because the end of Book 5 "Rasputin Must Die" was epic. We spent over an hour on that one fight. I won't spoil too much but he killed the ranger almost immediately and nearly killed the magus and inquisitor while the oracle was trying to disable something in the background which almost sent her to a different plane when it discharged. Meanwhile he was using quickened cure spells every round to undo the damage the magus and inquisitor were doing. And then of course when they finally killed him he came back to life, as would be expected for Rasputin.

And then he came back a second time.[/ultimate evil GM laugh!]

It was the highlight of the AP. Book 5 was fantastic.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

I have pretty extensive experience with five APs (GM'd RoW and am GMing RotR, JR, and Shattered Star; about to finish book 2 of CC as player) an a little experience with three more (playing MM book 1 with Tek, started playing S&S and Serpent's Skull before one piddled out and I left the other because I wasn't fond of the GM or the pace). With all that experience I can say RoW is probably my favorite (closely followed by RotR but only because I'm not familiar with the later books of RotR yet). RoW has one of the greatest hooks halfway through book 1 and each book is entirely unique and dares to do some really fantastic and interesting stuff. Also, RASPUTIN.

Silver Crusade

I was iffy on that at first, but I may have to look at that. Although I did resubscribe for the AP line for Iron Gods, so it'll have to wait still <_<

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Yeah, the whole going-to-WWI-Earth thing had me concerned when they announced it as it could have been really terrible but it actually was done really well and my players absolutely loved that book, especially the history buff who really appreciated the easter eggs they threw in there.

If you're not into really out-there adventures that travel around a lot (compared to perhaps the hometown adventures like RotR) it might not be the AP for you. But I thought that as a whole RoW was outstanding.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

So we are quickly approaching the end of Book 1! (Wow that was fast!) We'll continue exploring the rest of the dungeon, although we're done with the meat of it (there's a giant hermit crab I think I can safely remove without impacting the story much, lol).

But as we're done with the most important parts of the dungeon, I thought it was time to reward you guys:

Book 1 chronicle sheet!

You can apply that to any PFS character level 3-5 immediately or apply it to a level 1-2 character and wait for them to hit level 3. I just need to know the number of the PFS character you are applying it to so I can report it. I'll report it as soon as I hear back from everyone.

Thanks everyone and enjoy! That sheet has some cool stuff on it: partially charged wands, a neat unique item...

Great, thanks EF! I'll apply it to 76446-9 / Basalte / Osirion faction.

The PFS PC I'll be applying this to is Mathias Kelythis, 43025-6 of Cheliax. Gotta figure out what faction he'll be going to after the change, since as a Hellknight Signifier in training wanting to kill monsters... the Dark Archives doesn't seem to quite fit.

You might want to make sure Basalte survives The Hydra's Fang first! I now know what GM BS stands for... ;)

He always had the reputation of a being a pretty brutal GM in Bloomington. Killed me in Hinojai (I got better!) but then again it's pretty easy to kill people in Hinojai so that's not a great example.

I'll add it to Kraang 15767-5.

Good game so far EF. Don't get frustrated. My friend said (who said nothing about what is ahead) said we'll probably TPK in this next module =v)

So can our characters in this game be able to use the Boons given on the chronicle sheet?

Yep, I didn't know this guy before, and the first game he GMed for me (midnight mauler) went pretty smoothly. I realise that I shouldn't have brought my Boon character to his table...

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Sure, you can use the boons from the chronicle sheet during this game. You don't actually have to cross them out after doing so though.

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

I've gotten PFS numbers from Lucian, Miana, and Seal. Kufieno has already gotten PFS credit for book 1. So I think I just need a PFS number from Rissi.

After thinking things over, Lucian will be going the Evangelist PrC route. This means that every night, he'll have to prove his obedience to Desna by dancing in a random pattern beneath the light of the stars, trusting in the guidance of destiny. If no stars are currently visible, he'll softly sing or chant all of the names of stars that he knows as he performs his dance. He'll let his mind expand and turn his thoughts away from where his feet might land, allowing his steps to fall where chance wills.

I sure hope Desna will be pleased!

Thoughts on the loot:

I think that two pieces of loot (sihedron medallion and ring of force shielding) deserve special attention. A few other things (the elfbane arrows, the mighty composite bows and the mwk silver dagger) could be useful one day, and should definitely be kept. The rest could be sold without ado (except the CMW potion, of course).

Sihedron medallion: false life once per day and a cloak of resistance +1 are amazing, gentle repose[i] is nice too. My guess would be to give this to someone who
1) Won't use another neck slot (like [i]amulet of natural armor
).
2) Needs the extra hp
Right now I'm thinking that one of our three frontliners are the best choice, and if the one who gets this medallion had a cloak of resistance +1, he can pass it to someone else who hasn't one yet.

Ring of Force Shielding: The perks of this item is that it allows someone without shield proficiency to use it, and has no ASF. The downsides are that it can't be upgraded (unlike a normal shield) and can't be wielded by someone using a two-handed weapon. Both factors make me think it would be great on Miana (if she can afford a shield on her offhand) or Rissi.

Lucian's purchase: a +1 Mithral Shirt (2100 gp). Selling my Studded Leather armor for 12 gp, 5 sp.

Up to EF if I can use the ring without imposing penalties (since it's a shield but not a shield and monks cannot use shields without losing flurry, the AC bonus, and fast movement).

Rissi makes herself a hand-dandy headband of smartypants.

So I'm curious (and maybe I asked this alread?) but is Kufieno working towards arcane trickster?

The Flaxseed Pathfinder Lodge

Hm. While the ring of force shield is perfect for casters since it imposes no penalties for being nonproficient, you still have to wield it as a shield which I think would make a monk lose their flurry, AC bonus, fast movement, and whatnot.

Fair enough, that's how I would rule it as well tbh. The amulet is somewhat tempting, but my AC is the best in the party when buffed.

Speaking of which... Rissi, which do you think would be better? Wand of Mage Armor or getting you a Pearl of Power so you can keep the Mage Armors up? :)

I think the ring of force should go to either Rissi or Kufieno since he's been sneaking to the front lines the last couple of battles.

I also think the same two, and maybe Lucian are good candidates for the necklace since they are a bit more squishy and lower on the HP scale.

I think we are having spell levell and caster level confusion. Spellcasting limit of 4th spell level implies 7th level wizards or clerics in town. With a 5th level caster prereq for craft magic arms and armor, I would think it would be available in Sandpoint.

Male Human (Varisian) Oracle (Lore) 8, Evangelist 10 | HP 165/165 | AC:36 T:20 FF:29 CMD: 30 | F+13 R+22 W+24 (+2 vs transmutation) | Init +5 | Per +25 (+4 to determine whether he's surprised), Darkvision 60ft
