I think Uthar and I should go try to infiltrate the group. They'd doubtless love to have a big fighter/smith and a healer.
Honestly, I'm not sure what to do. Aljohar would speak against splitting the group and probably advocate infiltrating. If Lydia takes a group to follow the bandits, Aljohar could join them BUT is not stealthy and would probably be a left-behind healer. I'm not sure what Karl and Lino were going to do with intrigue/diplomacy.
Can anyone articulate what they were thinking of doing and what they were hoping to accomplish/derive from their path?
Aljohar was thinking that if they got in with the main group, they could spy out what's really going on, sow discord, and sabotage efforts. However, they could end up split into different groups, held for ransom, or killed as spies. There are definitely problems with her idea!

Doubtless they would.

~scribbles notes~ Oh! Pay no attention to me.

So, in the short term, I am a little unsure you guys want to push the infiltration as a group now, or pursue the separate courses I've laid out.
I should have time Thursday-Saturday to write, but I may not have internet access. So if you don't mind voting
1. Temporary dual track -- chasing bandits and a diplomacy mission to secure supplies.
2. Straight to a whole party infiltration of the bandits.
3. Write in suggestion.
My vote is for option 1, followed by option 2 in the longer term. I am open to suggestion.
Dabbler, Lydia could still serve with the troops, but she'll face discrimination. It's just something else in the world she has to deal with.
And I hope you're all not going to stay in Haltwhistle forever.

I'm good with a dual path as well. It's good to get a little intrigue in there, though it's pretty well outside Jam's skillset. Like Karl said that doesn't mean he necessarily can't help there, but he'll do much better chasing bandits.
My only concern would be that splitting the group might make things harder to follow.

Sorry about the delay in voting; the site was not my friend (or anybody's, I think) for quite a while! When I managed to read a post, I inevitably could not reply.
I guess Dual is OK, even if it's a classic party error. We're not precisely in a dungeon right now.

Consensus!
To keep things simple, I will split the thread. On a 1 bandit hunt keeps the main thread. On a 2, diplomacy does. 1d2 ⇒ 2
Diplomacy keeps the main thread. I will set up bandit hunt as soon as we actually split.
Please take your main characters to third level. If you want to roll up a secondary PC to play in the thread your main character isn't, you may. Roll that secondary character at first level. If you don't want to, that's fine too.

So scouting would be: Lydia, Jam
Diplomacy: Karl, Lino
Aljohar is undecided, and I don't know about Uthar.
Does that sound right? I would like to make a character for the other party, but don't know what to make yet.
Is Recruitment going to be the scouting playground?

Guys, I want to apologize. I am going to shut this down. I haven't been doing the quality of job that I want to and that you deserve.
It's become very clear to me that, although I think I've got a decent story arc, and periodic enthusiam, I can not prioritize the campaign so that the work gets done. Looking ahead at the next few months, there's no way that I can do so.
You've all been very patient, and I've enjoyed your characters. I will miss the game.
I wish you all good gaming and the best in life. I hope to see you around the Paizo boards.

I'm sorry to hear that, Tom! Thanks for the work you have done on this. Running a campaign is no joke. I'm disappointed we won't know how things worked out. I've become attached to these characters very quickly, which shows how good the players and GM are.
No worries, TT, life gets in the way sometimes.
Cheers!
