Backstory

Like most of the people in his generation Jamorin grew up knowing nothing but the time of war, it was always just assumed that when he came of age he'd join the war front as well. His parents owned a small farm outside of Haltwhistle which his mother mostly took care of on her own. Jam's father was always off battling in the war leaving his mother to not only look after the home and farm, but Jam and his sister as well. The farm didn't do poorly, his mother worked very hard to keep it up, but most of the crops were taken to feed the soldiers, there was very little profit made, and they had barely enough to feed their family. Despites the difficulties brought on by the war Jam was quite a happy child running and playing with his younger sister Elleena when he wasn't too busy helping his mother. He was always rather clumbsy and at times had trouble with the tools finding them awkward and hard to use, quite often his mother found him using the wrong tool for a job.

When Jam was 16 there was an enemy raid on the farm, Jam luckily was away making a delivery, his mother and sister were not so lucky, they were trapped in the farmhouse as it was burnt to the ground. Word was sent out to his father, but came back with no reply, his father couldn't be found, and was presumed either dead or captured. Now an orphaned refugee Jam was sent to Haltwhistle where he immediately began trying to join the war effort. It took him a number of tries he was too young, clumbsy and scrawny not ideal soldier material, but seeing his determination one commander gave him a chance taking the boy as an aid. His commander tried to train Jam, but the klutz could barely hold a sword without dropping it. Armour just made things worse Jam was actually quite nimble when unarmoured, but putting him even in light armour was like shackling his feet together. Finding training Jam as a frontline soldier impossible his commander instead his commander decided to take advantage of his talents, his quick nimble feet, and ability to somehow always keep away from the enemy made Jam an ideal message runner. Thus Jamorin found his place helping out with the war effort, he worked running messages, usually on foot but occaisonally on horseback, until the war finally came to an end. With the war over Jam made his way back to Haltwhistle.

Twist:

This is the widely known story of Jamorin Tigersoul, however he has another story that he's kept secret. Though it is rue that Jamorin grew up on a farm it wasn't near Haltwhistle, he grew up in Aundair. There he was recuited for the war at quite a young age when an ambitious officer found him to be very resourceful, with a knack for unarmed combat techniques and unconventional weapons he was put through intense training, and sent into Haltwhistle as a spy.

For a time worked diligently reporting back to his CO at every opportunity with whatever he'd heard and any orders he'd been passing. This didn't last however, witnessing some unnecessarily brutal battles, and violence against civilians Jam started losing faith that Aundair was in the right. Growing fond of Haltwhistle and the surrounding area, and no longer believing what he heard from Aundair Jam made the decision he would no longer spy for them. This was just before the Day of Mourning, and soon after he heard talk that his CO had been killed. As far as Jam knew his commander was the only one that knew he was a spy, he no longer had anyone to report to, no worry that someone would come looking for him. When the war ended he simply stayed in Haltwhistle to try to build a new life for himself there. His parents and sister did exist, but it would be safer for everyone if he never saw them again, they would likely assume he was dead.
