No worries at all, thanks for clarifying, and sorry I got it wrong.
... Hope things worked out okay at work. Scary.
Nurai Ayaulymkyzy |
I'm wondering if Nurai realizes I addressed her with a question?
I did, I'm just being a bit slow today. Hope my post makes her hearing it clear.
Joseph Zaidel |
AW MAN! I WANT THE SWORD! I WANT THE SWORD! I WANT THE SWORD! I WANT THE SWORD! I WANT THE SWORD! I WANT THE SWORD! I WANT THE SWORD! I WANT THE SWORD!...
JonGarrett |
There will probably be chances to loot the sword.
Also, apologies for the mild confusion Solomon. You wouldn't have seen the whole Sword of Fever, since Jim was being played then. You can either ignore that part or assume someone you know who was there told you.
Doctor Solomon |
Yeah I was planning on ignoring it but that shouldn't leave me with much. Still mulling over next steps. Is the curator not going to address the missing articles?
Joseph Zaidel |
Joseph Zaidel wrote:<Got it. And yes, that is some kind of Celestial script.><Nothing you can read though?>
Judging from my 10 on Knowledge (religion), I'm guessing not; but the DM might surprise us.
Median Maxwell |
Why would it be a religion roll? Or did I miss something and someone already tried this earlier?
Median Maxwell |
Perfect, yeah. This whole trying to become one party thing is maddening, but once we get there things should be smoother. I'll try to work on an idea for approaching Jennifer in my next post.
Maybe she could be thinking about the heists, and I would catch that?
Joseph Zaidel |
Jen, being Chaotic Neutral, or otherwise known as The Jerk Alignment; you could just bully your way over, snatching Median's phone.

I see you've picked up on Jennifer's personality very well!
It might come to that, but I need to go make my kids' dinner, so I may not be able to post until tomorrow.

Question & concern:
Q - Should I wait for the curator to become available to look over the catalog records for the missing pieces? Or should I assume that will happen sometime later?
C - People seem to be fairly open with talking about magic, the twilight, portals, inhuman languages, etc. That's... bad isn't it?
Nurai Ayaulymkyzy |
Nurai would view what she's doing as risky rather than bad. If someone overheard her quietly say to Ross "Some like to use the Twilight to aid such things" or "gotta plug a few holes", she doubts most people would jump to another dimension. The risks are from those who already know, tipping our hand that we know that most people.
But then, even without her sentient shadows involved, all that has to happen to Nurai is for someone to knock off her sunglasses. Everything she does around others is a calculated risk.
There are real museum artifacts in unknown languages. Some claiming of otherworldly origins is unusual these days, but not entirely unheard of Lots of things are said to have magic, curses... how others react to that is the risk. I've been trying not to read the other sections so not sure how unsubtle everyone else is all getting, but I imagine with your concern that we're going attract some attention we might wish we hadn't.
JonGarrett |
As soon as the talk regarding hauntings is done he'll grab the files for you. You can do what you want to do and he'll bring them to you. Or you can ask to go with him to get them, which will be a little harder to convince him of.
As for talking about magic, it's a little more open than it probably should be. In terms of Jacob (the curator) he's more than a little in the know, as has been hinted at.
But if it's a situation that will cause issues I'll mention there's someone nearby. The Museum is, thankfully, quite quiet at this time of day.
Generally, though, speaking about it is fine. Most people who aren't in the know will simply assume you're talking about a game, book or TV show. Maybe doing some kinda LARP. Actively using magic is more of a problem.

I'm very confused by my divination results.
I don't detect alignment, and I don't know what blue/purple actually mean.
Doctor Solomon |
Haha. That's because there is no Destiny! I am divining Density, as described on my sheet.
Also here.

Heads Up -- I will be traveling/visiting with family starting November 18th through December 2.
Traveling days I won't be able to post (driving cross-country), and I am not sure whether I will have time while visiting with family, so please feel free to either bot my character or put her on ice in the meantime.
Apologies for the extended absence. I'll be on mostly normally till Wednesday, so if you have questions/requests before I go, let me know.
JonGarrett |
That sounds like a good idea.
I'll be honest - I'm going through a couple of things, mostly in the form of groin-punching depression, which is affecting my ability to GM more than my normal brand of 'you're very sleepy' depression. I know I've screwed up several times, which has been...frustrating. So I'd like to make sure everyone's on the same page, and I haven't made any errors I don't know about that need fixing.
Nurai Ayaulymkyzy |
Great idea - we've made things a bit difficult by multisplitting, I'm being particularly bad with that, so let's make this a bit easier on him and each other.
So for Nurai:
She met Ross's Zaoth and she pinged a dimensional issue in the art gallery. She's now checking to see if she can find more of them as that's her biggest concern.
Nurai overheard Joseph mention Valda (though doesn't know his name yet) and Median telepathied names for certain staff members which Nurai liked and that Median is for working for Valda. Nurai inferred that Median thinks Nurai is working for V as well, which Nurai hasn't yet corrected much to her shadows annoyance. Valda verified Median so Nurai hasn't been chasing up on that yet.
She's aware through Median that the curator was dreading something, but then didn't have a mental signature and is carrying something magical under his shirt. She's yet to investigate that either though has some general ideas for it.
She knows Doctor Solomon is concerned about trouble at the museum.
She knows through Jennifer first that something was stolen. She also knows there is a not a defensive enough man who does magic tricks, but Nurai and Salim haven't really met yet beyond being in the same room briefly.
She overheard the curator's remarks about the King of Fever and items like the cup and sword and things. While she thinks there may be a link between that and why she's here, she's prioritizing the Twilight issue.
She left before the job and discussion about access to security cards for more access were mentioned. The first part won't interest Nurai much but I'm hoping someone will mention the latter to her as Nurai will prefer to have a good look into all the nooks and crannies.
Nurai is aware Jennifer left for a thing, I haven't worked out her reaction yet. It will most likely involve pressing ahead with the dimension concern.
Jennifer Buscema |
I hope you and your groin feel better soon, Jon.
Jennifer's task is to prevent further thefts from the museum, and secondarily to return anything she can recover.
She's looking into Fever's black market, and that ties directly to her secondary task, and if she can use it to track down who's behind the thefts, that ties directly to her primary task.
She could stay at the museum to guard what's there, but if these items are being stolen via small portals, there's not much she can do about it. Plus, some of the people gathered together seem competent, so that relieves some pressure for her having to cover every aspect of this operation.
She knows Nurai and Doctor Solomon from previous jobs, and that's it.
JonGarrett |
Alright, my head is on straighter again. Or as straight as anything about me ever gets, at least. I'm taking another day to mess with my notes, as my initial plans were for you guys to get the job offer and then go exploring - why I assumed it would happen in that order I have no idea - so I wanna tweek a few bits to fit the current direction.
JonGarrett |
Mostly, I'm just gonna wrap up Jennifer's little side travel and whatever the Military guys wanna do, then once everyone is in the building run out first Event. Everyone else is free to explore and RP as you see fit, as neither of those should take more than a handful of posts
JonGarrett |
Okiee, let's see. For my sanity I'm going to try and track where everyone is and what they're doing, and also write the next story in a pocket dimension you can't escape from made up of 5x5 squares.
Nurai and Ross are in the Museum, in the Military exhibit.
Solomon is heading to a winery, to buy a present.
Median is with the curator.
Joseph has gone through the the library.
Jessinifer is at a shady Pawn Broker's.
Salim is currently still in the museum.
Is that about right?
Joseph Zaidel |
Looks about right to me.
Nurai Ayaulymkyzy |
Hopefully your head feels better soon. Salim is free to join Nurai and Ross if he's prefer to explore around instead, at least have 3 of us in one place.
Nurai has no intent on leaving the building. She didn't before the curator gave security passes, she's really not now - so many dark corners to explore. She just has to avoid the temptation of inviting friends...at least corporeal ones.
Median Maxwell |
Median could be with the curator, depending on what she notices, but I also said she went home, mostly to cover for my vacation... so if you would rather have everyone there, then we can say she stayed.
Median Maxwell |
Totally understand. I think it is easier to just say that she stays.
Doctor Solomon |
Twilight patches. You can get them at Joann's.
Kidding ofc. Just wanted to say I've been having some vision problems but I'm hoping to catch/keep up. Sorry if I fall a bit behind.
JonGarrett |
It has, indeed, been addressed in one of the spoilers. Short version is you'll need to roll them bones (Planes and Arcana) to know in character, but there are three choices - let them heal but it'll take a ton of time, pull a ritual or remove whatever is poking holes so they can heal normally.
Joseph Zaidel |
Also, @Joseph: I think that the museum and the library are connected. Maybe even part of the same building.
[GRUMBLES] The website wasn't descriptive enough, I guess. Plus, no one could give me directions to the library when asked, so I 'googled' it.

I'm just imagining you getting in your truck, driving about 40 feet, and then getting back and casually walking into another door within sight of the door you just left.

Yes and no. Midian is in an office on the second floor. I put you there, too, provisionally, but you can chose to be with one of the other two, or even on your own somewhere else. This part was - shockingly - designed for the party to be well split, so I'm fine with whatever you want to do.
Both Nurai and Ross, and Jennifer, Solomon and Jacob, are in the Military Exhibit. For some reason they can't see each other, although both groups have noticed there is something behind the display case they're both examining.
Why can't the groups see or interact with each other? Who knows? Me. I know.
