Male. Mostly. Human. Mostly. Archaeologist

Hey, what does Jennifer's blood count as again?

Male. Mostly. Human. Mostly. Archaeologist

Just waiting for a destination - due north, invade the town, or the unexpected third option of tomb raiding.

Wraith 6 | HP: 56/56 (FH:5) | AC: 16 [22] / T: 16 / FF: 15 / Immune: Bleed, Fire, Mind-Affecting, Mind Blank, Petrify, Polymorph | Fort: +6, Ref: +7, Will: +8 | R. Touch: +4 | CMB: +3, CMD: 18 | Init: +7, Perception: +9/+19 to spot

I've been nervous about raiding tombs since I found out some friends of mine live near a prison and execution site for violent offenders that was built on top of a native american burial ground. o wo I'm not saying it's so haunted that clerics of Pharasma would be hesitant to go there....... I'm just saying maybe don't bother the place any more.

Let's put it to a vote, then. I vote north.

AC 17 (t 12, ff 17) -2 bloodrage, -1 enlarged | F+8, R+4, W+7/9 | Init +4, Per +11 HP: 74/74 (+9 when raging) | Bloodrage: 19/19

Hey, I realize that it's very rare to ever come up, but maybe it's slightly less rare in the fey realm? But if Jennifer ever attacks a good creature, she does an extra 2d6 profane damage.

Also, I've just accepted that someday Jennifer will take someone by surprise, and I'll forget to apply the 1d6 sneak attack damage she gets from her template.

Male. Mostly. Human. Mostly. Archaeologist

I don't think you've beaten anything up that's good yet. But it's certainly possible in this one. Heck, it's been possible a bunch of times.

DR only applies to attacks I think. Was this an attack?

So under the common terms part of the PRD, it reads:

Quote:
Creatures that are resistant to harm typically have damage reduction. This amount is subtracted from any damage dealt to them from a physical source.

(Bold emphasis is mine.)

But the special abilities part of the core rules for DR and monster special abilities part of the bestiary rules for DR only talk about DR in terms of attacks.

I'll let the GM decide on that...though anything can be an attack if you're suspicious enough (not fitting for this character, but I've a couple who would totally first assume the boat was attacking them or that someone was using the boat to attack them).

Male Fey Hedgewitch 6 | HP: 48/51 | AC: 20/23, T: 13/16, FF: 18/20 | Fort: +5, Ref: +5/7, Will: +10 | Melee: +8 [+3], Ranged: +6 [+3] | CMB: +8, CMD: 21 | Init: +4, Perception: +14 <low-light> | SP 10/13 | Speed: 20ft

It actually seems like a haunt's attack to me, which is why I asked. But that is interesting, I hadn't realized there were multiple interpretations. It makes more logical sense to work against any physical damage.

Male. Mostly. Human. Mostly. Archaeologist

I always assumed that it was from physical sources, the same way Energy Resistance to fire would protect you equally from a Fireball spell and a burning building.

I usually hit the common terms part first on D20PFSRD because it links me to the main article of a particular rule without me having to know how to navigate to it. That's the only reason I saw the difference.

Wraith 6 | HP: 56/56 (FH:5) | AC: 16 [22] / T: 16 / FF: 15 / Immune: Bleed, Fire, Mind-Affecting, Mind Blank, Petrify, Polymorph | Fort: +6, Ref: +7, Will: +8 | R. Touch: +4 | CMB: +3, CMD: 18 | Init: +7, Perception: +9/+19 to spot

My understanding is that, in general, a physical source for DR is bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage. This is occasionally relevant - for example, there are some attack spells that deal bludgeoning damage, and those are emphatically affected by DR despite being of magical origin.

Does anyone else want to try rolling knowledge: history or anything? I'm not sure what to do next, either trying to close the book or trying to see anything else on this boat?

Jennifer blew her one-a-day knowledge check for skills she's not trained in.

I'm fine with staying on the boat to observe what happens, but that could take a while.

Well, the two obvious choices are interacting with the book or interacting with the crew.

Okay, we've stalled. Jennifer is all about getting what we came for to finish the job, so she just wants to look for this mysterious tech so that we can leave. As a player, I realize that since we don't know exactly where (or what) this tech is, we'll likely be wandering around for a bit encountering anything interesting Jon wants to throw at us.

Unless anybody has any wildly incompatible goals for their characters, can we agree that we go below decks to search for this tech?

Jon gave us a few options. One was to try and take control of the bridge, but since that still means we'll have to fight off a bunch of boarders (other than us, that is), I'm not sure what advantage that gives us. Another option was to scuttle the ship, but since we're already on board, I'm not sure I care where it goes. We can worry about getting off and getting home later.

I just want to keep the game moving. We can't let Morgan's sacrifice be in vain!

Male Fey Hedgewitch 6 | HP: 48/51 | AC: 20/23, T: 13/16, FF: 18/20 | Fort: +5, Ref: +5/7, Will: +10 | Melee: +8 [+3], Ranged: +6 [+3] | CMB: +8, CMD: 21 | Init: +4, Perception: +14 <low-light> | SP 10/13 | Speed: 20ft

Yeah I"m with you, let's strip the hold & loot the ship. It's what Morgan would've wanted.

Male. Mostly. Human. Mostly. Archaeologist

To be clear, the main point of the job was to keep the experimental goodies from being captured by beings from another realm. The two you know are the ship's power source and the variety of electromagnetic cannons she's carrying, but there are definitely more.

Ideally, the ship can be returned to our reality intact. Less ideal would be to take whatever you can and return. The final option is to scuttle the ship after deliberately destroying whatever tech you can't grab.

Saving the crew has not been mentioned in the briefing. This was probably because no one thought they would still be alive after 5 years. However, I will say that Good aligned characters will need to justify their actions for why they left a bunch of innocent folks to die or shift to Neutral.

AC 17 (t 12, ff 17) -2 bloodrage, -1 enlarged | F+8, R+4, W+7/9 | Init +4, Per +11 HP: 74/74 (+9 when raging) | Bloodrage: 19/19

Ah, okay. I don't know if I never realized that some of the technology was identified or if I had forgotten because my dwindling brain cells.

Anyway, if we continue on to the power source, we'd be addressing one of the items we know about, and we could potentially disable all of the other items until we can deal with them.

Male. Mostly. Human. Mostly. Archaeologist

Yup. If no one protests I'll move you in that direction.

Male Dreamland Cat Fey Adept 7 | HP 33/45 | AC: 18, T: 17, FF: 14 | Fort: +6, Ref: +8, Will: +9 | BAB: +3, CMB: +1, CMD: 13, M.Attack +11/+11(1d2-3), R.Attack +11(4d6) | Init: +5 | Perception: +12, darkvision 90', scent | Spell Points 5/14, Shadow Points 6/10

I sure don't, since I've apparently died.

Ah, it really hadn't occurred to me that this was the original crew. With my Headstrong drawback I'll need to head right into the battle (which means iron-cutter is probably coming with me).
Anyone else want to split the party?

In fairness, you haven't confirmed that yet. But it seems likely since they used both the vulcan cannon and a railgun.

I guess that makes sense.
Is there an onboard intercom in use? Can we hear any announcements or crew chatter, etc?

And if you guys are going in the belly of the beast, do you want to don your radiation suits?

There haven't been since you boarded, but you've only been there a minute or so.

Are there any (game) mechanical penalties to fighting in radiation suits?

Either way, down we go!

Male. Mostly. Human. Mostly. Archaeologist

These are the stats I made (Light Armour - AC +4 - Max Dex 4 - ACP 5 - Radiation Resistant) so it would seem not, beyond the high ACP. I remember considering whether they would have a Temp HP pool before they started leaking radiation, but never finished it, so you should be safe.

Ish.

Nurai is happy to go with the group for now to find their priority job (she would assume some crew would be guarding it and that that would be their best first contact point), but if she finds along the way another method of contacting the crew, she would use it and try to diplomacy into meeting up to make things faster (even if that eventually means summoning something to run for them for her). How well that will work, who knows.

Male. Mostly. Human. Mostly. Archaeologist

OK, so Jennifer, Nurai and Morgan's memory will head towards the power plant, while Kaelic and Izami go try and help the people? Sounds like a great plan with no possible ways for me to exploit your splitting up for my own amusement.

I'll post once I move to a computer with spellchecking. Let's face it, I need all the help I can get.

As you might have noticed, I've been a little...slow...recently, including the website. Depression is an asskicker that way. But having had a rest (well...part of a rest, and also clearing out my basement and storage area so those chores aren't niggling the back of my brain) and some TLC means I'm getting more energy again.

And thus, I finally updated the website. Which is iroic, given we'll probably be finishing this section soon, but eh.

If you have a picture you'd rather I use instead of the Paizo avatar or image listed in your profile, give me a head's up.
