Cerise, the Sparkle Princess |

I'll probably be making a new character. Haven't decided on what, and I may wait until I see the story choices.

Jim Seeker |

Really missed Solomon this game, but I really like Jim better. Solomon's ability DCs are just too low to make much of anything stick. Cool in theory, but in practice...
Still, I guess I'll have to think about it.

JonGarrett |

Yup, character's will all always be the same level. The only variation will be in whether you have one or two levels worth of Templates.
You can have rebuild Solomon, if you prefer, Jim. I'm sure people can make suggestions for showing up any weaknesses he has.

JonGarrett |

OK, my posting may be a bit choppy (or it might go into overdrive, who knows?) as my mother passed away yesterday. As a result I might not post for a couple of days, might post three times and rebuild the website, and everything in between.
I'll also probably screw up descriptions and math and the like, so feel free to poke me with corrections.

Cerise, the Sparkle Princess |

About to disappear for a couple of days. o wo Post-Christmas family stuff. Very sleepy and only halfway through. I should be posting regularly again by the 29th.

Remington Intrepid Pike |

I'm more or less back and functional. How is everyone else doing over this fine festive period?
Just like every year I stay home for the holidays, I have had little intention of disappearing from any of my online activities; and just like every year, I'm kept surprisingly busy.
As I said in another of my online campaigns: I'll be around, but most of the next 10 days will be like the weekend, which means that most of my time will be devoted to keeping the kids occupied and exercised (aka "family time") and then convincing myself that I'm not too tired in the evenings to take time for myself.
Glad you're doing okay, Jon.

Aurora Goodberry |

I'm home too, but my girlfriend being around and an unpredicted shift of my last exams mean my posting will be a bit slower for a while.

Cerise, the Sparkle Princess |

On a not-at-all urgent note, I'm pondering my next character... and I might do a Wraith with the Blood sphere. I've got a niggling desire to make that one of the wiki's sample characters, but I also want to test it and see how it works in practice. XD

Overlord Jon |

The Strange Fate of the Blackwing
The shattered realms of the Twilight Realm contain many weird creations and strange sights. Reports have come through of something unusual even for that odd realm - an experimental British warship that vanished several years ago.
How did it get there? What quirk of reality brought it to that place? Maybe those aren't the important questions, though.
Maybe people should wonder what happened to the Nuclear Material onboard...
~~~~~~~~~
The Stolen Claim of Carl Henderson
The tale of Carl Henderson is a famous one within Fever, as he was the first man to be hanged after the founding of the town. Legend has it that Carl jumped the claim of another man, and even a little thing like death wasn't enough to get him to give up his mine.
Everyone assumed that it was simply a spooky story based on a real life killing, but a few weeks ago was the 113th anniversary of his death.
And now strange things are happening up in the mountains where his stolen claim was said to be, hidden and sealed away.
~~~~~~~~~~~
A Casual Little Bank Heist
Now, sure, robbing banks aren't entirely a legal thing to do. And, sure, it's a little risky to rob one that's rumoured to be run by a large magical criminal organization.
But sometimes they have things in their vault that are needed. Things that don't belong to them. And you have to break in and steal it without being caught or hurting anyone, or even being noticed if possible.
Just a little.
We are pleased to report that the strange occurrences that have been spotted around town the last several days have been confirmed as hoaxes. Although several highly convincing videos appeared on the web, many people, including we here at the Times, assumed it was the work of some kind of prankster.
Although details are still emerging on exactly how the pranks were done, it has been confirmed to have been at least in part the work of a team advertising an upcoming movie, using some of the special effects on the street to show just how realistic they were.
Unfortunately for the movie, a lack of permits and several incidents that led to panicked bystanders getting harmed mean the movie's production is now in jeapordy...continued on page 3.
In other, sadder, news several out of towners have been found dead in strange circumstances, at a location outside of town where a number of the 'creepy clowns' that have been plaguing the nation have been sighted...continued on page 6.

Cerise, the Sparkle Princess |

I think the first two would go pretty well. ^^ I'll cast my vote there.

Cerise, the Sparkle Princess |

So, I kind of ended up on a roll once I started actually building. XD Basic outline is a human who got turned into an oni, then got purified into a kami, and now protects a sword (their wraith refuge object) while occasionally chucking magic out to help people. ...She can also only normally manifest for about 12 minutes a day. So, uh, anyone willing to carry a sword around through the next mission? XD

Morgan D. Cat |

Hello, I'm the aforementioned cat, replacing Aurora for a while. Sadly I have only paws and can't wield weapons, but if you want to possess a narcoleptic cat, I'm your guy.
As for adventures, I'd vote for the Blackwing and the Heist.

Jim Seeker |

Wait so to be clear one character is going to be a weapon and one will be a pet. Do I have this right?

Cerise, the Sparkle Princess |

More accurately, one character will be a spirit possessing a weapon, capable of (temporarily) forming an independent body. o wo

Jim Seeker |

It's actually funny you should have that concept. I once made a sphere fighter that carried a sword possessed by a spirit that could manifest itself a limited time each day (a summon ability).
In fact, if I remember right, I applied to one of your games with that fighter.
I could dust off the old concept and see how it might play out now... But where does the cat come in?

Cerise, the Sparkle Princess |

Wherever it wants to.
...
I mean, have you ever met a cat? XD

Cerise, the Sparkle Princess |

3 for Blackwing, actually. XD I believe it's currently in the lead by one vote.

Jennifer Buscema |

I'll be traveling the rest of the week. I expect I'll be able to post, but I won't get Jennifer leveled until the weekend, probably. It shouldn't take long to do once I get the chance.

Jim Seeker |

Challenging, as usual.
Say, what uh, caste of character will the sword be exactly?

Cerise, the Sparkle Princess |

Caste? I'unno. XD She's basically the guardian spirit of an object, though, with some powers lingering from her time as an oni.

Cerise, the Sparkle Princess |

--------------------
Izami has had a long history in Asia, and probably would have remained there if she hadn't been taken back to America as a souvenir during World War II. She'd slept through the entire thing, and by the time she was woke up, the war was long over and she'd been transported to Fever where a few incidents ultimately resulted in her falling into the hands of Miyu, one of the town's investigators.
Izami was originally born as a human in Japan in the early 600's - but a few chance encounters led to her transforming into an oni, an evil spirit of vengeance. She travelled the country for several hundred years, but fell during a confrontation with the onmyodo specialist Abe no Seimei around 980 AD. Rather than destroying her, however, Seimei used his arts to look into her past and see the trail of events that had led to her corruption... and chose to redeem her, purging the evil that surrounded the core of her still-pure soul and transforming her into a kami, a type of guardian spirit. Vestiges of Izami's oni power remain, particularly in the form of clairvoyant, pyrokinetic, telekinetic, and telepathic powers, as well as her innate mastery of blood magic.
She usually resides within Iron-Cutter, a katana formed from the metal of the blade she was originally assigned to guard. Her possession has given it several special qualities, including incredible toughness and durability, the ability to cut most materials, and the ability to spring to her hand. Iron-Cutter is her refuge object and primary tie to the world, and if she's not manifesting physically, it hurts her to be away from it. Iron-Cutter is also a holy reliquary that can be used to worship her and get her attention, though most people don't bother too much. Despite its overall quality as a blade, Izami is actually quite bad at using weapons and can't wield Iron-Cutter as a master would. She has to possess a warrior's body to use it properly. She prefers to simply reside within it and use her various magics to help her current charge(s), though she'll let the blade itself be used by most people who ask nicely and deserve it. She refuses to let her ward/refuge be used by evil creatures.

Izami, Kami of the Blade |

And here's a fuller version! 8D ...I put an awful lot of gold into a weapon I'm not even proficient with, but eh. XD I don't plan to be slashing people all that much anyway. Cerise and Regina were very damage-focused, so I'm changing it up this time around.

Jim Seeker |

Wait so who all is coming to this party?
I get confused when characters change.

Izami, Kami of the Blade |

Izami here is replacing Cerise. And I'm pretty sure the new King is becoming an NPC. XD

JonGarrett |

Yes, his Kingly powers mean he is getting replaced (although will be able to join some games down the line) plus he physically can't leave Fever to go explore, so Jennifer is returning. Aurora is becoming a cat in the desperate hope that I can spell that characters name. This hope is most likely vain - I can't spell nuthin'. Nurai is, I think, remaining Nurai.

Jennifer Buscema |

How are new characters/levelling up going?
Jennifer is done except for re-calibrating her new attack copy/paste. She's gained Power Attack and her BAB is now +6/+1, but I know there's some "natural attacks can't/shouldn't use iterative attacks" rule that I need to look up.
Also, apparently I've never applied Background Skills to Jennifer, which I should remedy.
Jon, is there some GM tool you have that will make Remington an NPC? Or is that something that's going to happen as I stop posting as him? I just want this alias near the top of my "Post As" drop down menu.

Jim Seeker |

Yeah I don't think you can use iterative with a full natural attack. Either/or. But you can do iterative *with* a natural attack, just not as part of a group of natural attacks.
Izami here is replacing Cerise.
Would you consider making your sword refuge large? :D

Izami, Kami of the Blade |

I don't think I have the money for that. XD And it wouldn't really fit the backstory. But if someone has a way to *make* it larger for awhile...

Jim Seeker |

I was going to say, as a conscious weapon with your own actions there's a lot of Sphere effects you could concentrate on, like Enhancement sphere stuff, that wouldn't cost spell points.
You could buff the sword, buff the weilder, even heal/restore stuff might be handy.

Jennifer Buscema |

Jon, a question about the clawed guantlets that Jennifer wears that she found here. You said in that post that there's still some stuff to work out with the guantlets. Has Jennifer discovered anything further about them?

Izami, Kami of the Blade |

I did consider that... but ultimately, it came down to the fact that I'm using Izami to test out the new Blood sphere and the Wraith class, so I didn't want to throw too many talents elsewhere. XD If it was less of a test, I'd totally be willing to buff an ally wielding the weapon.
I plan to mess with enemies' vision, deal bleed damage, and throw out the occasional SLA. Fortunately, I don't need to be able to gesture or anything for the spells, so lacking a tangible body most of the time won't slow me down any.

JonGarrett |

Yes, Jennifer can have learned more about the gauntlets. She'll probably have needed some help to do, though - her skills aren't high enough to do it all alone.
Give some flavour on how she gets the information - friend of a friend, raid a forgotten library, asked something nicely, something else - and I'll pop up the relevant info she would have learned.
