You can get copies of the Family Histories from any Genealogical Society. You might be able to get more exacting information in Skyway, since all nobles really want accurate genealogies. Since it's very possible that Eberron's society has printing with moveable type; Genealogical books of the accuracy you're looking for will cost 5gp to 20 gp.
Family History books would cost less, about 9 sp to 5 gp.

A bit of both, actually. :)
DC 25 gives you all the information of a particular house that was in Dragonmarked Houses. DC 30, you get into in-depth family histories, including what did what, or family biographies of successful house leaders. DC 35 -- you get into the esoteric history of the house.
Kind of like information on getting rich in the real world.

Othan |

I don't want to change my main 6 stats at this point, otherwise I am flexible about changing things, but given that I have made it to lvl 4 with my current abilities I don't see a need to change them at this point. Thanks for offering though, I will have to remember skinwalkers for future games. Not a fan of only getting the physical stat buff when shifted though.

Danir |

I'm thinking that we either need to actually start posting with some frequency or call this one dead- waiting days for a single post, having questions asked towards the gameplay be routinely ignored, etc.- these things make for a poor gaming experience from what could otherwise be a great game. But that's just MHO, what do the rest of you think?

Ebran Asur |

oops, kinda posted my thoughts in gameplay before i read discussion.
without trying to offend anyone:
- responses from the GM do seem to take a bit more time than i would have expected.
- players sometimes take a long time to post or do not post at all. I could see this being an issue arising from the fact that we are dealing with something that pertains primarily to one character (mine). If that is the case or even part of the reason, then we should speed through my side story and get moving on someone else's story or the main campaign arc.
- on the front of player/character motivations, i see the following:
--- Ebran motivated to play the party scout, doing his own quest, making money. Lofty goal of one day being an airship captain.
--- Xov motivated to solve any mystery that arises
--- Danir motivations relate to House Cannith, but also to magical research and creation, problem solving.
--- Thrask/Absylon/etc motivations to... be crazy?
--- Othan motivations relate to killing, little else.
Xov and Danir's motivations require heavy and repeated GM feedback to inquiries.
Thrask seems sufficiently self-motivated to be the live wire of the party, being crazy and forwarding his own shadowy goals.
Othan's motivation requires more frequent combat, otherwise there is little for him to do, it would seem.

Othan |

Othan is also fine with being the big brooding backup to whatever schemes the group has. He is skilled at intimidating people. Our adventures will likely force us to continue dealing with less reputable parts of society and having someone who is clearly skilled at killing (and always armed even if we are allowed no weapons into a meeting) is often handy.
Also stating that I am only motivated by killing makes me sound like more of a psychopath than I am. I am highly motivated by money, really having no vested interest in our long term mission other than that it should make me incredibly rich.

Xov |

Decent summary, Ebran.
One thing that might be happening is that people are waiting for others' to get a chance to post before they do, so everyone is waiting on everyone else. As in, GM is waiting for Danir and Othan to post, but they are waiting for Xov and Ebran to post, but we are waiting for the GM to post, so no one posts.
Usually when I can I'll post with something Xov is thinking, even if he isn't doing anything, just so that people know I am caught up and don't need to wait for me.
As for how people are invested in this particular part of the story, Xov seems comfortable getting between interhouse conflict. Danir seems much more inclined to go do something for his house. Othan...I'm not sure.
As a player, I'm anticipating how it will play out when "Thrask"'s cover is blown.
I don't know how busy people's lives are, but this time of year for me I usually get a rapid oscillation between being overloaded with work and having too much spare time. If other people are having real life events going on, that could reduce posting, which also reduces people's investment, which cycles back around and reduces posting rates. Personally I'm fine with the game moving slowly, as long as it is actually moving and not completely stopped.

Danir |

Danir's only real motivation with getting his task done so that he can get back into his house is because it helps him towards his long term goal- gathering enough personal money, power, and partners/hirelings to make a foray into the Mournland and return to Eston- his home and the former seat of Cannith power. He wants to find his family members bodies and give them a proper burial and might also wish to seek some keepsakes/mementoes from his family home.

That'd be fun. hopefully i can pilot the airship for that venture :D

Here are my justifications:
1. you guys look like you need more breathing room.
2. Danir wants to do his storyline, and he's itching to.
3. You still can work with the Citadel, if Ebran's elemental skyship was smaller, and less conspicuous. I'm thinking of making it a special ship, that has landing capabilities. Yeah, you don't have to dock at a tower.
4. It will allow you to go all over Khorvaire, and can go beyond. Even to Sarlona and Xen'drik.
5. Plus, it will make it faster to get one from place to another. And riding the rail would put you in more danger than a skyship.

Ebran Asur |

i, of course, like the idea.
Even if the other PCs don't want to have any sort of focus on a traveling game, it is pretty awesome, like Othan said. It could even have small but comfortable rooms, and a luxurious common area (with a bar).
A large ship would be nice, but a smaller one is quite good for the reasons you mentioned.
And a smaller one could be better for daring escapes, especially once i get a rod of ropes and my future powers of ranged control of the ship's elemental.

Absylon |

Absylon wouldn't mind an airship... Although if given a choice Absylon would prfer a spacious airship, more room from which to deploy mercs...
Note GM, I have plans of going to House Tharask (I forget the exact name) as Absylon with a letter of authorization from "Thrask" to use the House's services on his behalf...
When my character arrives at the "merc pit" I would like if possible for the mercs there to be determined by dice rolling, so that it feels like opening up a can of "mystery meat"...
It's your choice whether or not to do that though...
