So now that I spent the last month using my incredibly skillful interrogation techniques on the changling, I say we leave his body in an alley. But Othan still doesn't understand all this cloak and dagger stuff. He likes simple problems, so he simplified the current one.
At this point Xov believes the changling is insane, and insane people can't really be interrogated effectively, even with magic (since most mind-reading spells and powers only show what the target believes to be the truth). He isn't going to stop Absylom from dragging the body off to a cleric or something for a Speak with Dead, but he isn't going to help with what he thinks is a waste of time.
Absylom has a +10 diplomacy (gather information), though, so that would probably be useful right about now:)

Ebran is just trying not to get hemmed up as an accomplice in a murder.
Understandable, othan really couldn't see an easy way forward without killing the changeling.

ah, not familiar with the system and it would take me longer than that to make a character for a system i know.
that said, if the rules are available for free i can give it a shot, but once again it will take me awhile to put something together.
officially there are no free rules for deathwatch.
Ebran is finally and for real leveled up. i have no idea how i got so behind, i blame work.
anyway, he should do some real decent damage with thrown weapons now.
next goal: level 5. then i can take a feat that makes my thrown weapons return right after the attack. i just need to get my chakram enchanted with Returning, and i will be set.

whether they want Ebran to die is entirely up in the air.
as far as "a threat" i would say that aside from perhaps Jorasco and Kundarak, Lyrander would be the nest least threatening house.
Sivis is fairly nonthreatening, but has all the secrets. "Supposedly" they forget them, but you can surmise how that really works.
Kundarak actually has some nasty stuff sealed away under the earth (not talking about the regular stuff stored in the banks). All they'd have to do is unseal it and let it come out, if they so chose.
Jorasco, which a house of healing, has a small sect of people who do quite the opposite.
I guess Ghallanda isnt that threatening, now that i think about it.
Prior to being sent on what appears to be a suicide mission (whether Lyrander wants Ebran to die or not, Xov believes they do), Lyrander was one of the two houses he was the least suspicious of.
Does Ebran think his House has it in for him?
Well he wouldnt put it past them, but he wants to rise above that, and through adventuring cement his spot as one of the great members of the house.
Lyrandar, in my reading of the books, appears very much to be an "old boys club" similar to a yacht club or country club. And what are airships if not ludicrously expensive yachts?
I thought I'd leave it a mystery as far as why they havent excoriated him yet, despite his demonstrably weak bloodline. Maybe some higher-up has plans for him?
or perhaps they just figure his zeal will get him killed in a much less obvious way.
Perhaps they figure that having a capable agent who will do anything that they ask to try to earn favor with the house but who can be easily 'disavowed' if things go south is of benefit to the house leadership.
