This campaign mixes pulp noir, steam, and adventure. The campaign presents a dystopian view of Breland and delves into the question of Sovereignty - both personal and national. The campaign is a dystopian fantasy espionage campaign.

Right, you don't. So I'll have to give you an XP boost to compensate. I don't know how much XP a hero point is worth, but I better make it modest. You get 40 XP.
Alright, I'm sorry for the lack of posts from me recently. Real life (I know, what's that?) got in the way, as it so often does, and I got a few new activities that make it hard to regularly post here. Regrettably, this means I'm gonna have to retire Kyndril (and myself) from this game. I had a great time while it lasted, so thanks to everyone and especially GM Elton.

So, does Kyndril quietly fade into the background, will you be NPCing him or is it time for a spectaular heroic sacrifice?
He'll be relegated to NPC status. As in, you won't see much of him in Sharn. When you are finished with Sharn, he'll be going back to Thrane to be reunited with his family (and out of game).
Well, if Essar alienates himself from his faction, it might make him cling to us/the citadel a bit more...
on the other hand, it might just make him less stable...
Shopping list:
Holy Water Flask (1) (25gp)
Sunrods (3) (6gp)
9 extra trail rations (4 gp, 5 sp)
*Any chance Othan and Xov can pay me back the 6gp each for their rooms?
As I have said before, Othan is a mercenary, this cloak and dagger stuff is new to him. His kind tend to solve problems, quickly and violently, and becoming a mercenary did nothing to lessen that tendency.

Essar is a Karn and Breland is a new area, he is quite frankly a military man from a nation where every citizen has served in the military. As such he is used to a military lifestyle and not halflings with attitude problems.

if she wants healing magic she can be nice, furthermore Essar has seen the worst of thrane. The horrors of treating men nearly burned to death and men who were given over to thranian inquisitors has made him jaded. Trying to terrify Essar is hard, and those who have not fought in the Last War he will never accord any respect to. Unless they earn it, and Essar judges by the standard of the Emerald Claw.
and Ebran knows when visiting a new body of water, don't dive in head-first. it makes too many waves. blow some bubbles in the shallow end until you see where the currents lead.
Speculation-that-doesn't-actually-matter: How did the Quori gain the ability to scry on us? Possible explanations off the top of my head include
Spoiler:
1. They saw us by scrying on the shifter Othan killed, and that was enough of a connection to scry.
2. They met us in our dreams, since they are from Dal Quor
3. They are outsiders, they don't follow the same rules for scrying as humanoids (the simple explanation).
4. One or more of the other NPCs we have met is actually an Inspired...
5. One of the PCs is actually an Inspired! <joke>Maybe Ebran, considering he said
Quote:
I would sooner brave the mind-thieves of Sarlona than pledge any fealty to Karrnath, given the choice."
on page 8</joke>.
6. Some combination of the above , possibly all of the first four.
(player knowledge) Quori inhabit (possess) bodies, and when the body dies the quori spirit goes to Dal Quor. That said, it wasnt scrying per se, but rather just viewing us through the senses of a vessel that was already beholden to them.
Essar is not going be happy with that vendor, he isn't rolling over and admitting that he was eternally blessed by Essar's mere presence in his shop, thus why he understood something different than what Essar wanted to say.
GM- since Danir currently has some status with the House, even if it is as a hireling, is he able to take advantage of the house discount of 75% off all non-magic gear?

Essar's being played like he's the Blood's gift to women. It makes for an interesting character so far.
So the guy who openly stated from day one that he doesn't care for the interests or goals of the party now wants to lead the party. That's a weird election slogan:
Quote:
Vote for me: I hate you and don't care about the issues affecting you, Essar 2016!
GM: Questions about (your version of) the campaign world:
1. How is Brelish slavery determined? I.E. are people enslaved via the ancient method of war-prisoners and debtors being auctioned off? Is it more like Europe's religion-based slavery? Or is it more like the United States' racial-based enslavement?
2. Is the Citadel run by Boranal's brother like in 5 Nations, or is it someone else?
2 a). Would any of us know the answer to (2)?
male Human Atlanteologist 10/G.eneral O.perations D.irector 8
no, you would not know the answer to 2, but yes, the citadel is still run by the duke.
answer to 1: Brelish Slavery works like slavery does in Ancient Greece and Rome; but like I said, it operates below the shadows. Breland likes to think of itself as a "progressive" nation. They aren't into building an utopia (like the Inspired), but they are trying to make a better world.
yeah, Essar talks pretty big so Ebran wants to see him walk pretty big as well. no malice to it, but he would like to see him fail to measure up to his talk so he would be knocked down a peg.
It's a hoard of undead...this is basically the encounter Channel Positive Energy was designed for--an burst that heals allies and hurts undead. But yea...that's why I generally prefer starting at level 6, or at the minimum 3: there's a lot less random death from throwaway enemies.
also, i never liked the pathfinder idea that you could only help allies OR harm undead with a positive energy burst and vice versa for a negative energy burst.
i get that they are trying to keep it balanced, but the idea just doesnt make sense.
It doesn't do all that much for balance anyways--clerics have so many overpowered gamechanging spells available, and direct damage spells and in-combat healing are the two least potent kinds, so combining them wouldn't hurt balance much. Eh, it's not a big deal after you get past level 2-3.
