Slypher Xen |
Good question. We should probably go back into the goblin room from here I suppose. Then pick another door.
Aside from the bricked-up door we couldn't get through in the beginning, the doors out of the goblin room are the only areas we know about that we haven't been to yet, correct?
Pai Song |
Pai Song is a bit confused about the whereabouts in this location. She won´t really admitt it though. Whereever the party goes, this time she will really take care to be in the middle, having someone before and behind her, so she is at least save from physical attacks.
DrGabe |
Back in the "main" room of this dungeon complex you have two options to choose. One is the door with the seven inset thumb-sized sockets. Thus far you haven't explored how to open this door very much. In the balcony of the main room is a door to the "west" (you have explored the entire "east" side where there was a door on bottom floor and a door on upper floor). The door on the upper balcony to the west is closed but doesn't appear to have a lock in place.
DrGabe |
Forging ahead you come into a large room with a twenty-foot-tall statue of a man carrying a tome standing in a round niche at one end of this impressive chamber. The chest and head of the large statue have been badly damaged, and look like they melted and ran before congealing again, giving the statue a crude, blob-shaped face with eyes of red stone. A doorway leads to the southwest (the other side of the room).
Perception check
DrGabe |
Those who rolled over a '15' notice the following, you can may also act in the surprise round- one move or standard action only please.
Suddenly a shadow shifts in the darkness of the large chamber. On the far side of the room are two creatures that look like fungus started to grow over a grasshopper with a mushroom shaped head. The two monsters twitch nervously as they notice you enter the room...
Jostrum Finderwell |
Knowledge Dungeoneering(?): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Jostrum fires an arrow at the creature on the far right.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Sorin vos Naran |
Perceive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
"Oddly enough, I don't feel like rushing into this one. Why do you think they are hanging back?" Sorin says, moving to stand with Slypher, his sword at the ready.
Osric Sarus |
"Perhaps it will jump over the frontline fighters and hit the spellcasters? They do look like grasshoppers, of a sort anyway
Osric readies his shortspear and shield, and stands ready to protect those without armor (Pai only, I think?)
Aasif |
Aasif sets an arrow to his bow, but waits if the mushroom-heads act hostile before he will loose.
"I think these most funguslike creatures won't take the arrow flying their way well, best be ready."
DrGabe |
Jostrums arrow is slightly off the mark, crumpling into the stone wall behind the giant bug.
Grasshoppers: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Osric: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Sorin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Pai: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Slypher: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Jostrum: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Aasif: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
The mutated grasshoppers spring across the room, closing in on the party as quickly as their short little legs will carry them.
Aasif, once the NPC's move you can fire your arrow.
Initiative: NPCs and the the PC's. PC's it is your turn.
Slypher Xen |
It works for me as well. I know some people have problems with dropbox, but I never do (I think).
Slypher makes a quick flurry with his staff.
Staff 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19, Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Staff 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20, Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Aasif |
As soon as the bug-people move to attack Aasif looses his nocked arrow on the NW one.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Map works for me, but I can never see me on the maps
DrGabe |
Sorin charges forward, his sword taking a huge chunk of the monstrous fungal insect. Aasif's arrow also hits the creature, but the arrow mostly glances off of its chitinous armor.
The creature near Slypher unleashes a flurry of blows on him.
Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 for Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 for Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
And tries to Bite Osric, Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 for Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8. Along with the sharp fangs, the creature injects a horrible poison into Osric. You need a DC14 Fort Save.
The other creature does the same to Sorin
Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 misses.
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19, Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4Fort Save Dc14: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Sorin returns the favor on the creature: Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8, but unfortunately misses.
: Initiative: PC's; Sorin is at 5 HP.
MAP
FC1: 17
FC2: 14
Slypher Xen |
Slypher at 5HP as well.
Slypher shifts backwards and casts a spell at the creature before him.
5-foot step down & left. Color Spray, DC 14 Will.
Pai Song |
Not really knowing what to do, Pai Song steps a step forward and aims her crossbow at the creature in front of Osric.
Light Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d8 ⇒ 5
DrGabe |
Both Pai and Osric attempts to slay the alien-like grasshoppers fail. Trying to form a defensive front, Jostrum is able to heal Slypher.
Osric feels poison start to course through his veins, and it is a devious one. Strength Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2 and Con Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2 You also need to make a Fort save again this round.
Meanwhile the viscous creatures continue their attack!
Attack Sorin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 for damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Attack Sorin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 for damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The monster smacks Sorin with is a claw sending the warrior down in a pool of his own blood. It stars at the fallen warrior for a moment before moving to the rest of the party.
The other monster presses in against the explorers.
Attack Slypher: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 but misses.
Attack Osric: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 for damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Bite Slypher: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 for Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 5) + 4 = 11
One claw strikes Osric across the face drawing a huge gash of blood. Slypher ducks the other claw only to find himself in the jaws of the huge insect. The bite cracks bone and the limp form of Slypher barely manages to stay on his feet.
Sorin's Stab. Roll: 1d20 - 3 + 2 ⇒ (10) - 3 + 2 = 9 Sorin bleeds another point of damage. Now at -4 HP.
PC's Turn. Quite a string of rolls for the poor GM. Funny how in my actual games it never works out like that...
Slypher Xen |
Slypher charges his staff and strikes out in a desperate attempt to kill before being killed.
Staff 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22, Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Staff 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18, Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5, Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Ha-HA! Die silly bug!
Status: 2/13 HP
EDIT: Forgot the Fort Save. Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Pai Song |
Oh no, the warrior, this might be it! And my magic fails me! What am i gonna do?
Pai Song produces her wand of infernal healing and and uses it on Slypher.
Aasif, do something, snipe them!
DrGabe |
Aasif's bolt grazes the bug, another piece of its shell cracking just a bit. It doesn't even seem to notice though. Jostrum's healing brings Sorin back to life, he takes a deep breath in and steadies his grop on his sword. At the same time Osric's positive energy flows through Slypher.
Attack Sorin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 for Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Attack Jostrum: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 misses.
Bite Sorin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14, just misses.
That claw takes Sorin to Zero hit points by my count. He is staggered, you may decide what do to with his action. PC's turn, Slypher you still owe a Fort save before you go.
Slypher Xen |
No I don't. I edited my last post with it when you asked last time. Pretty sure I nailed it, too.
Slypher steps up behind the bug and swings hard.
Flank with Sorin?
Staff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6, Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Pai Song |
Slypher also has fast healing 1 for 1 minute.
Pai Song moves where to where she has a clear shot at the mushroom thing and then fires her crossbow again, simultaniously thinking about what this thing could be and if it has some weaknesses.
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Light Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 211d8 ⇒ 1
Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d8 ⇒ 6
