See, new blood always creates a stir!

Don't worry Deiros, once you check out Retias' background, you'll have no worries about his RP chops. His PM was like a novella (in a good way)!

Retias, I received your background and have to say I was very impressed. With your permission, I'd like to post it for the others to check out as well, provided you have no objections. There are a couple of finer points we need to work out about your recent history prior to play, but overall the Space Wolf concept looks solid.

Given your characters extensive past travelling in the retinues of Inquisitors and pursuing Chaos as a bit of a lone wolf, you might want to consider the Deathwatch Kill Marine archetype from Rites of Battle or the Space Marine Lone Wolf (eventually) from First Founding. Provided Rad has no issue with you playing another Assault Marine, this would work out well, as that will allow us to field two "demi-squads" with a Tactical and Assault marine in each (if there is one thing my players love doing in both campaigns, it's splitting up, lol) this helps in completing multiple objectives, but with smaller groups, also does put the marines at more risk.

As far as character generation, please post your rolls here, you may use Paizo's chat roller or Invisible Castle, whichever you prefer. Then select an appropriate avatar and post your completed character to it as the others have done. I will then mine the information there and create you a sheet for the wiki. I foresee Bjorn coming into play relatively quickly, but he will not have a place in the current scene. I see him entering by the start of the first mission from The Emperor Protects and will bounce some ideas off you to that effect soon.

I am on vacation this week, so that should mean some extra posting over the next several days. Tonight though, I may or may not be able to post until a little later in the evening as I am sneaking off to post this with company in the house. I just wanted to make sure Retias knew I got his submission, and give you all my favorable impression of this.

Be posting again soon, hope the Omega Vault development surprised at least some of you!

Also, no worries, Eradico, I'll wait as long as it takes for Only War. If you wanted to run something in the interim, too, consider me as interested as ever.

Have a nice vacation Rook, from the sound of things it is well deserved.

Indeed. Holidays should also be welcomed. :) I've no trouble at all with that background being shown, I think it's the best I've ever written, it came out of a surge of inspiration and a fair amount of free time.

I'm not used to the paizo roller, so hopefully this works.

Weapon skill: 2d10 + 30 ⇒ (4, 10) + 30 = 44
Ballistic skill: 2d10 + 30 ⇒ (7, 8) + 30 = 45
Strength: 2d10 + 30 ⇒ (9, 6) + 30 = 45
Toughness: 2d10 + 30 ⇒ (7, 2) + 30 = 39
Agility: 2d10 + 30 ⇒ (5, 7) + 30 = 42
Intelligence: 2d10 + 30 ⇒ (5, 8) + 30 = 43
Perception: 2d10 + 30 ⇒ (7, 2) + 30 = 39
Willpower: 2d10 + 30 ⇒ (5, 6) + 30 = 41

Wounds: 1d5 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
Fate points: 1d10 ⇒ 6

Power armour mark: 1d10 ⇒ 1

Alright, that's Maximus armour, if you're following the optional armour tables from Rites of Battle. (If not, then I'll disregard these rolls.)

Armour table rolls:

1d5 ⇒ 1
1d5 ⇒ 3
1d5 ⇒ 1

Armour history rolls:

1d10 ⇒ 1
1d10 ⇒ 6
1d10 ⇒ 9

Edit: Reroll for third table roll

1d5 ⇒ 1

Edit: And again.

1d5 ⇒ 1

Edit: 1d5 ⇒ 3
1d5 ⇒ 3
1d5 ⇒ 1

Alright, I'll try this once more, and then I'll just stick to two histories as it doesn't seem to want to give me something other then a 1 or 3.

1d5 ⇒ 1

Thanks, Ellipsis. I have to say, I have had these dates circled on the calendar for a long time.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Retias, you know you can reroll one of you characteristics, but you have to accept the second roll.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Retias, everything looks good, and the Rites of Battle armor rolling tables are perfectly OK.

Lorm is correct about the re-roll, too, so feel free to do so.

I was mistaken about the name of the advance scheme I was thinking of from the prior post. Checking First Founding, it is actually called Wolf Scout. I see you've already elected to go the Assault Marine route, which is perfectly fine with me, but if you wanted, I'd consider waiving the 200XP entry cost for the Wolf Scout, as it would play well into the specific entry into the campaign that I have planned for you. Again, entirely up to you. If you prefer the Assault Marine with a Lone Wolf or Bitter Vengeance (this one plays into the Thousand Sons backstory) Past History, that will work just as well.

Please spend an additional 500XP as well, to keep you a little closer to the other marines in the group. You'd shouldn't receive the full XP total for joining mid-game, but I want you a little bit further along for the difficulty level of the Emperor Protects.

Also, if you already haven't, please read through the IC postings so far to get up to speed with some of the storylines and other plot elements going on so far in the campaign. There are some larger individual plot arcs occurring with the characters introduced so far (both PC and NPC) that might not be immediately apparent. If you have already done so, great, be ready to play soon!

I will try to consolidate a sheet for you tonight and get the material up on the wiki.

I considered wolf scout, but my main issue with it is the hit to fellowship it takes. Would you be willing to consider an alteration there? If I take that career, I think I'll shift my xp spending a little.

And mm, I'll take the reroll for toughness.

2d10 + 30 ⇒ (4, 5) + 30 = 39

Edit: Ah, I see the dice gods choose me for cruel jokes here.

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

Your dice rolls are still good, will just have to pump Toughness once maybe, but that boost to Fellowship is very good XD me and Caledonni could use it for the squad modes ^^

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Final call is yours, Retias, I'd probably have to keep the Fellowship hit in this case, as it is an inherent aspect of the archetype, but I'll let you keep the better of the two Toughness rolls.

Either way, Wolf Scout or Assault Marine, will work for the initial entry point I have in mind for your character. Feel free to adjust your Demeanor and re-spend if you go with the former.

Just in case any of you are wondering, "Just who the heck are these Kill-team Mordant guys?", this is something of an Easter Egg I have included for my cousin's pen and paper campaign with me. He is the aforementioned Ultramarine, Brother Tavius, newly brought into Kill Team Mordant, and this scene is essentially where his campaign, in effect, begins.

He has followed along with your adventures for some time now, and has been very impressed with your performances in the Sons of Jericho campaign so far. He was honored and pleasantly surprised I would give him a cameo of sorts here.

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

Very cool Rook. Glad he is enjoying reading along with the campaign. Hopefully someday he will make further cameo's.

And welcome Bjorn. You have very big shoes to fill considering your namesake.

True Bal, the aforementioned ancient dreadnought is a tough act to follow.

Ah, the Fel-Handed. He was fun to read about in Battle for the Fang.

Newly posted character sheet, with the alterations from Wolf Scout and some revised xp spending. The kill marine option will be something I'll keep in mind, perhaps for later, but it's a hefty 1000 xp to take the option.

Don't worry about the dice rolls, Retias. You should see some of the streaks of bad luck I have had.

lol that was not bad luck it was creative roleplaying ;-)

It is the best way to say it, creative roleplaying.

All mighty Abnett, darn good writing skills.

Well happy for the Cameo appearances, hopefully he likes our more than cheerful marines we all are.

Abnett for me by default, I haven't read the Ciaphas Caine books yet.

The Omega Vault wrote:

Satisfied, he turns to Brother Quintus, of Umbra, and the Dark Son, Brother Ghaeman, leader of Kill-team Mordant.

"Brother-Sergeants, prepare your men, and find what secrets the Vault would reveal to us on this sacred day."

Did Quintus get promoted? I guess I was unaware of this. It's no problem but from the rules I was under the impression that Kill-Teams were a company of equals and the 'leader' role rotates from mission to mission. I think it would be interesting from a role-playing perspective to see some of the other characters be put into that position.

That said, Ultramarines get great bonuses for leadership, cohesion, and social interaction so Quintus is a good choice.

Edit: I hope I don't sound petty by asking this question.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Eradico:
Not at all, Eradico, it's funny you mentioned it, I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that. No, Quintus is still an equal among the rest of the Kill-team. Mordigael was only using his Ultramarine rank as an honorific of sorts. He is still, technically, a sergeant after all, albeit from his own chapter. He merely posed the question to Quintus as he was the last to lead the Kill-team on a mission. One of the things we'll need to decide soon is who will lead the next mission.

By the way, everyone sounding off prior to going into the Vault was pretty cool roleplay, and I liked all of your individual posts so much I think it is worth 100 bonus XP for each of you. Nice work, Lorm.

Will you be wearing your finest Klingon attire? :)

Overall it was a good trip. Definitely have a good share of memories and experiences that I brought back with me. The Con was impressive in some area's and lacking in others. But that can be said about any event.

Have to say I absolutely hate the roads there Lol. I won't be complaining about Abq's roads or traffic for quite awhile.
