It's funny, for some reason in writing for Diaz Lan, I cannot get the actor Christopher Waltz's accented voice portraying Dr. King Schultz in Django Unchained out of my head.

Must be their shared unflappability.

That... is hilarious!

I guess I know who I'd cast for him in the 'movie' now, heh.

Just an update on the reinforcements, I'm still awaiting Bilbo's completed character and have yet to hear back from the other interested party. I'll keep everyone posted as I hear more.

We're officially into the Emperor Protects campaign now (I know, finally!) so soon it will be time to start thinking about Requisition and Oath-Taking again. Over the course of the current dialogue with Lan, the mission objectives will soon be spelled out with some successful roleplay, and you should be getting a better idea of what Kill-team Umbra is in store for this time around.

Not in use

Would Brother Bjorn meet up with the team pre or post req?

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

We'll find a way to work him into the Requisition, Mark, even if they haven't met up already at that point.

I imagine a lot of the mission prep will probably take place aboard the Horizon's Pride, but Brother Bjorn will be taken into consideration via meta-gaming. Feel free to contribute your input in OOC once we start that process.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

For everyone else: I'm going to let you guys start to discuss this mission in character before chiming in with Hrothgar and/or Decius's take on things in the IC post.

Brother Syne's tone is meant to imply he is admonishing you for disparaging a fellow Astartes behind his back. He and Brother Vex (as well as you guys OOC) know that he is trying to get the other team members to butt out of Dark Angels' business.

PS: Glad to see Paizo no longer super-censoring

No worries... Loving it!

It's nice to see the usually laconic Eli getting involved. ;)

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

OK, I'd like to work out the leader of the mission, oath-taking, and requisition aspects of the coming mission through roleplaying. So, once Kill-team Umbra is finished with their discussion, let me know, and I will move the scene along. I just want to make sure you guys have an opportunity to discuss anything that has transpired thus far in the campaign to your satisfaction before proceeding.

Eli does not have anything more to discuss and is waiting for the others to either broach a new topic or invite the trader back in. Eli has no desire to lead and would support any of the PC's who want to volunteer, not that he would tell them that.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

That's fine Ellipsis. I will be moving the scene forward tomorrow to get things going again if there are no further posts tonight.

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

Llyriel doesn't have anything else to add to the discussion, and is quite happy he didn't have to reveal any information than he had to.

I am fine with moving the scene along.

Rookseye - any chance you could give me a slight hint about where you might want me to end up to meet with the rest of the kill-team?

I'm tempted to investigate further... but don't necessarily want to risk ending up getting found out if you had other plans for Bjorn?

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Bjorn will ultimately meet up with the rest of the Kill-team once the Horizon's Pride reaches Aurum. As you may have inferred, Brother Bjorn is Diaz Lan's secret 'boots on the ground' observer on the Golden World. The likely meeting place would be the small shuttle landing field near Haistand.

I'd expect this to be relatively soon, once the current scene aboard the rogue trader's voidship finishes playing out, likely no more than a week game time. In the interim, you can investigate as you choose. If you want Brother Bjorn to gather more intelligence at Grensvayl, the opportunity is there (but also the risk). As he is fairly familiar with the region surrounding the Imperial garrison in the native capital of Haistand, he may also check out other regions if you choose (spying on the Caele in Haistand, the Imperial garrison, some of the other smaller satellite settlements, etc).

Either way, before too much longer Bjorn will likely be hearing from Lan's contingent with further instructions.

Not in use

Bjorn will soon be on a short vacation to the land downunder for a whirlwind feast of familial visitation, bacon and egg muffins and iced coffee. Departure is scheduled for this evening at 11:55 PM GMT+8. Characterful service will experience a slight delay in response time during the period and if patience could be extended that would be delightful.

The Bjorn unit should be returned to normal function and reliability on the evening of the 23rd of April GMT+8.

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Enjoy your vacation, Mark!

At this juncture, Eli does not have any questions for the Brigadier, though if he has anything interesting to say I wouldn't stop him.

As for requisition, given that it looks like we will be engaging in more subtle endeavors Eli will wear scout armor rather than the traditional power armor. Additionally, he will requisition an Ultra-Pattern Sharpshooter's Rifle (25 points), Cameleoline Cloak (20 points), and Auto-sense Goggles (10 points). He will retain his standard issue gear including his reductor and narthecium. If it is appropriate he will also retain the Omega Vault's chainsword.

If anyone has any suggestions or comments (hint, hint...)

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

I am trying to remember what heavy weapon does Quintus have on him in the vault? It might affect his gearing up.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

I believe that everyone carried only their bolters into the Omega Vault, Lorm, given that the ceremony was interrupted by the Vault's doors opening and your entry was move along by the Keeper of the Vigil himself.

As it wasn't made explicitly clear, though, I would have no problem if Brother-Sergeant Quintus, as a Devastator Marine, had one of his preferred heavy weapons with him at that juncture though.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Loadout for Brother Syne looks good, Ellipsis. Also, the chainswords taken from the Vault need not be counted against your Requisition total, each of the marines carries one free of cost.

Thanks Rook, my biggest concern was whether the choice of scout armor would come back to bite me.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Quintus would prefer having his heavy flamer, but I do not see him taking that to a ceremony, so I would guess he would have a have a heavy bolter. I will requisition: hellfire rnds for 25, fire selector for 1,kraken rounds for 5, metal storm rnds for 15, magnoculars for 3, and a data slate for 5. this a total of 54.

Lorm, The Horizon's Pride has a deathwatch armory which should have a heavy flamer for you to use. If you still want the heavy bolter, keep in mind that heavy bolter ammunition costs more requisition.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

Thanks Ellipsis. I will take a heavy flamer for 15, magnoculars for 3, data slate for 5 for a total of 23. Since the last time, the kill team gave me extra req points, I will give the rest back to the kill team.

Not in use

I'm not really seeing a way that Bjorn would get anything from the requisition without breaking versimmillitude a little too much - so I'm happy to roll with the regular loadout.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

That's fine, Bjorn, and appreciated.

But feel free to spend the points anyway, as there is ample justification that the Space Wolf may have an existing cache of equipment hidden on Aurum for his use.

Scout armor is fine in this case, Ellipsis, in fact I was pretty much going to recommend it as an option for everyone given the nature of the mission.

Load-out noted, Lorm. You have 32 remaining, if you choose not spend them they will go into the communal pool for everyone else to draw on if they need a little extra.

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

The current selections can be viewed on the wiki, Requisition for your reference.

Note, I have not included Requisition totals for Brother Decius and Brother Hrothgar, as they are now NPC's for the time being.

Not in use

Well in that case :)

Partial Selection:
Astartes Assault Shotgun - 7
Slug Rounds - 4
Stalker Flares - 8
Stalker Rounds - 4

...and I'll need to check the main rulebook for the rest.

ok so here is what I cam kitting out as: for the tactical ammon ill take hellfire rounds, 2x metalstorm rounds for 30, kracken rounds for 5, a back banner for 15 and a cartograph for 5. I still want options for the Oath.

Male Half-Orc 9th lvl Cleric, 4th lvl Ninja, 1st lvl Black Flame Zealot

Sadly it looks like most of what I want is out of renown reach so I will go with what I purchased last time and give everything else over to the squad.

Force Weapon, dataslate, and chronometer.

Remember that per the Deathwatch Errata, requisition for Kraken round is 15.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Ellipsis is correct, Kraken rounds now cost 15 per clip per the errata, Brother Caledonii. I reduced your Metal Storm to 1 clip to offset this.

Brother Emeric still needs to select for Requisition, again each character has 55 to spend, but there is still 68 total available.

Feel free to adjust as need be. Perhaps some specialty rounds for those who opted to go without or another item that piques the squad's interest. Again, every book in the Deathwatch line is open for use. Don't leave any left on the table if you can.

The current load-outs can be seen here: Requsition

Rook, it looks like you charged Brother Vex for his force sword in requisition which is actually standard issue for Librarians.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Doh! Correct, thanks Ellipsis. Thought this was the case but didn't check under the assumption that Vex would have spent more than 6 on his kit.

Make that 93 remaining.

Bal, even with Caledonii's spending spree and Brother Emeric yet to choose, I'd recommend picking up something else, maybe some specialty ammo if you have nothing that jumps out at you from the lists.

For spare requisition I would recommend:

Elucidator 25pt (Core Book, p. 175)
Cartograph 5pt (Core Book, p. 174)

Hey guys, sorry for the delay... will post requisition tonight.

Also Rook, is Brother Emeric able to access the ship's cogitation banks from the input source in the conference room?

Yes, Emeric currently has relatively unfettered access to the Horizon's Pride's cogitation banks.

Dark Archive

Male Human Warhammer 40K GM

Hi Deiros, sorry to hear about your injury, hope all is going well otherwise. Did you intend to jump back in to the game with Brother Decius?

Emeric's Requisition Request:

Godwyn bolter (is this standard?) 5
Upgrade w/fire-selector (normally +02 but I think this upgrade is standard for tech-marines--I cannot find the reference at the moment)
2 krak grenades 0 (standard)
2 frag grenades 0 (standard)
1 clip kraken rounds 15

Combi-Tool 15
Multi-Key 15 (I know the Aurum-environment is low-tech but you never know)
Vox-caster 10
Lamp/Glow-globe 1
Cluster mine array (x2) 10

OK, I'm being the greedy, gadget-happy tech-marine again with 71 points total. If I need to shave that down, leave the cluster mines and multi-key.

Notes: Emeric is wearing a Black Templar Ornamental Tabard (+2 to Fellowship tests). Although Brother Lyriel took a chrono through requisition (only 1 point, I know), space marine armor has an internal chronometer (p. 172).

Might we want to take an Elucidator (p. 175) in case communication with Aurumites (or potential semi-intelligent saurian enemies) may prove difficult?

I'm having trouble getting time at home for looking through my physical DW book... could someone recommend 30 pts or so of grenades?

Björn Ensam-Vargr wrote:

Can update tonight when I get home but krak and frag grenades only cost points when the req request is "excessive" (not defined in rulebook). Other specialty grenades have costs and sometimes renown requirements. Like I said, will try to update tonight.

Male Catfolk Shade (magically altered human) Monk-8, Mage-16

The grenades in the main book that we have access to are:
(Name and req pts)
Blind grenades 10
Incendiary grenades 15
Nova grenades 15
Stun grenades 10
Photon Flash grenades 5

Of course, as stated above, Krak and frag were not included, nor was any that needed a certain renown, or those that are granted only for specific missions. All of the grenades are prefixed Astartes. I hope this helps.

Dark Archive

GM W.R. Monger

I do plan to jump back in, but I do need to read the posts and catch up with how things are going in the campaign.

Eradico:

Standard issue for a Techmarine includes 1 Bolter w/fire selector and 3 each frag and krak grenades.

I seriously doubt the usefulness of a Combi-tool or Lamp. Cluster mines might be useful but need to be deployed defensively, which may be problematic.

Also, if Rook allows, Rites of Battle has rules for using requisition to acquire assets from other Imperial institutions. Perhaps the Rogue Trader has a useful specialist or some household troops to requisition.

Ellipsis, yeah like I already said it's doubtful there will be a need for mulit-key or combi-tool in a low-tech environment. The combi-tool should be standard issue as the tech-marine's swiss-army knife, Emeric feels naked without it. :)

Revised req list:

Godwyn bolter w/fire selector/3 krak/3 frag, 0 pts

Kraken round clip, 15
Combi-tool 15
Vox-caster 10
Cluster mines x1, 5 -- I'm sure we'll think of something. ;)
Glow globe 1 -- Emeric likes gadgets and it's only 1 pt
Pict-recorder 5 -- Emeric may want to record visual data of saurian xenos for Deathwatch
Magnoculors 3

54 points total
