Although it isn't an official holiday in the states, enjoy the Superbowl tomorrow everyone!
As a spoiled Patriots fan I will be rooting for the Tom Golden-Boy and the Belichickian Sith-Lord as per usual, so try not to hate us too much if we somehow manage to win it (far from a sure thing this time around, but the last time against the Giants was SUPPOSED to be a sure thing, so we'll see, I guess).
I'll be hosting a little get-together with friends Sunday as I know some of you certainly will, so posting will probably be waiting until Monday morning/night at the earliest.
So, in the true American way, make sure you eat, drink, and enjoy the game (and the commercials)!

Hey fellas, there is a big gaming convention this weekend in Denver, Genghis Con (yup, that is really what it it called). Friday night I'm playing in the following scenario:
Warhammer 40K RPG (Deathwatch)
The Final Watch, Hosted by Benn Williams
In the grim darkness of the 41st millennia there is only war!
The forces of the mysterious Deathwatch have stood vigil over
the Jericho Reach waiting for their time to act. Now the forces
arrayed against humanity stir…and hunger. Join Warhammer
40k RPG Freelance Writer Benn Williams (co-author of the
Warpstorm Trilogy for Rogue Trader) for this action-packed
event, and dare to take on the role of humanity's greatest
protectors in a war-torn universe! Advanced players please.
Guess I'll let you know if the Jericho Reach is doomed to be consumed by the Hive Fleet or by Chaos, lol. On the player roster I noticed that I get to play alongside Ross Watson, lead designer for FFG Warhammer RPGs! Ross is hosting a game on Saturday morning called "Honor of the Chapter" that I unfortunately was too late to sign up for. :(
Instead on Saturday I'll play three separate scenarios of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, 3rd ed., from 9am to 11pm. Woot!
--Eradico
PS I'll be able to check our PbP game over the weekend too.

Apparently I let our one year anniversary of the campaign pass without mention!
I deserve a whipping by an arco-flaggelant for being so remiss!
Although the official first post in Sons of Jericho IC was 02/01/2011, gameplay looks to have begun on 02/24/11, so I guess I am not totally late to the party.
Thanks to all of you as players for making this campaign just as interesting and engaging for me as the Dark Heresy game. Quite literally, the game would not be anything close to the quality it is without your creativity and dedication.
The campaign will soon be transitioning to the main scenario, The Emperor Protects, as we finish with the roleplaying and character development at Watch Fortress Erioch during the Kill-Team's downtime. Admittedly, this portion of the game has lasted longer than I had initially expected, with some constraints on my time for posting, but I feel it has served us well in the character development portion of the game, as well as laying the groundwork for storylines in future scenarios.
In the interest of keeping up a tradition of sorts in my games everyone is awarded 300XP in recognition for the first year. This will be over and above an award I have intended for the conclusion of the current segment of the campaign at the Watch Fortress which has been a scenario itself.
Again, I openly encourage you to provide feedback on the game; what you like, what you don't, and the directions you would like to see it go in the future.

Rook, thanks for the bonus x.p. Woot!
Also thanks so much for all the time, energy, and effort that you put into your PbP games. Your descriptive prose is a pleasure to read and I feel like it's a real privilege to participate. The way you run the game it's more like collaborative story writing. Awesome!
As for suggestions... I've really enjoyed the chance for everyone to flesh out their characters while at Erioch. Can't wait to see how the various threads of intrigue play themselves out. Also looking forward to The Emperor Protects. Into the breech once more! In short, no real suggestions. It's all a blast as far as I'm concerned.
Here's to another year!

Ill take trained in dodge for the 300. Next is a long wait for the next points spent either 500 or 1000. :-)
Kaltos, you are already considered 'Trained' in Dodge as a Deathwatch Marine, Dodge +10 is available at Rank 5, so you'll need to pick something else from either the General Space Marine Advances, Storm Warden Advances, Deathwatch Advances, or Tactical Marine Advances.
By my count you are still holding 300XP to spend, for a total of 600XP available, too.
Quick question on what gear we took to the training grounds before Ill make my choice of backing off or attacking.
Kaltos, given that it is a training exercise, assume bolter (with standard ammo) and chainsword for both you and Brother Decius.

Thanks for the plaudits, Eradico, I have a great time with this format. I'm glad you're enjoying the games and really appreciate the feedback.
I just want to make sure you all know that even though my posting has been sparse lately, both games are very much alive in my mind. Chiefly this has been from an increased workload at my job as we had someone unexpectedly resign a couple months back. The good news is that it should be lessening, as we hired a replacement for the person who left. Once he's trained and up to speed I should have my weekends back and be able to get caught up on the games (and sleep!).
I'll get the wiki sheets updated as soon as I have everyone's advances.

Humm I think we have had this conversation before...
It looks like we have the basic skill which is half the ability, on most of the character sheets it has it marked that way. I was looking for the was the full agl bonus skill. If we have that then mine and most of the other character sheets need to be updated, and I would then save the points. I want one of the 1000 pointers first before the others.
LOL posting of the Beast >:-)

Yep, page 36 of the Deathwatch Core book lists Dodge as a Trained skill for starting marines. I do remember having this conversation before, and thought I had changed out the info on all of the sheets, but it looks like some of them still show it as Basic.
I'll change that now, thanks Kaltos.
Oh, and yes OOC = #666 = Maiden Live.
EDIT: Weird, it looks like Intimidate was missing from most of the sheets, too. I corrected that as well and double-checked the other 'starting Trained' skills and everyone looks OK now.

I had 100 xp unspent, so I am going to spend 400xp on the command skill.
Thanks Rook.
Just in case you weren't aware, Lorm, Quintus had taken Command Trained as a prior Chapter Advance advance. I gave you Command +10 (same value, 400), just let me know if that is OK.

So the convention was a blast. Friday night I show up for the pre-tourney muster and learn from a staffer that Benn Williams was sick, was on anti-biotics, and unable to run his scenario. Total bummer ! But Ross Watson was there and volunteered to run the adventure that he had planned for Saturday morning. Cool!
There were four players (Ross would've been the fifth for Benn's adventure). Here was our party roster:
Dark Angel Assault Marine
Blood Angel Devastator
Storm Warden Apothecary
Ultramarine Techmarine (yup, that's what I chose--go figure!) ;)
The adventure, "Honor of the Chapter" was a blast with some good role-playing opportunities and fast-paced combats. Needless to say, having played Sons of Jericho for the past year I was able to really play up my techmarine, fluff-wise.
I was not surprised when Ross said he was using Black Crusade combat rules. He said they were "much better" and made to be compatible with Deathwatch. I'm excited to see how these newer rules play out in our PbP once we get rolling with "The Emperor Protects."
On Saturday I played WFRP from 9am to 10pm. One highlight: my Dwarf Troll-Slayer died at the climactic conclusion of a battle against a Black Ork Warlord--epic!
Oh, and Bal the table-top 40K room was incredible. Lots of gorgeous miniatures. Could not believe how big some of those armies were.

Glad you had a good time, Eradico.
I know Benn's pain, I've been on antibiotics for a week fighting some kind of monster-bug that has really set me back. Wish I had a backup so that I could keep posts going for you guys when I'm down for the count.
I'm happy our little game had you primed for RP'ing a tech marine, too, you really do a great job with the character.
The new Black Crusade/Deathwatch errata rules are something I'm looking forward to as well, I have a feeling that they are an improvement just from what I have read on the FFG discussion boards so far.
I also have to say that characters dying a heroic death via sacrifice is one of the most under-appreciated parts of any RPG. Played well, it can really add a memorable moment to a campaign. Just the same, it is a heck of a lot easier to do it in a one-off than with a beloved character you've been spending years developing.
With a troll-slayer though, it is pretty much his endgame for this to happen at some point, so I'm glad you went down fighting!

That's fine, Rook. I missed entering it on my avatar character sheet.I have a question, when I look at the advances for my character, it cuts off in the middle of elite advances. Do you know why?
I think it is probably a resolution thing, Lorm. When I set up the pages in Wikispaces, I usually do it on a widescreen monitor, and things do look noticeably different when I check it on my iPad.
I'll see if I can figure out a way to truncate it so that the column is more visible for you. I'm assuming there is no scroll bar on the bottom to navigate to the unseen part of the page?

Somehow I am kind of lost, I read the thread to try to post somethings but I think, I depend on Caledonii for role playing =) I will be posting more often just trying to catch up and make sense of were I'm at.
No problem, Decius. You are currently in one of the Deathwatch's simulated environment habitats/training areas inside Watch Fortress Erioch's 'Hunting Grounds'.
Caledonii is leading you through a 'bug-hunt' exercise as part of your indoctrination training, and you are about to be introduced in combat to a very dangerous genus of Gaunt known as the Mahir Leaper.

There was no scroll bar on the bottom.

Cross-posted from Oremor Affliction.
Sorry for the quiet week guys, I've been at work way more than I'd like this week but I should get some of my free time back once the new employee is trained and ready to go; hopefully by the end of the month. I'll be posting over the next few days to catch up some. Thanks for being patient.

Hey Rook, just in case you missed my post, Brother Emeric made an entreaty to the Forgemaster. No hurry--just double-checking.
Also I'm still debating what to do with your generous boon of x.p. :)
Sorry for the delay, Eradico, it looks like Forgemaster Greyweaver did acknowledge Emeric, I was just waiting on the Scrutiny test. Let me know if I missed something though.

Good grief. I completely missed your post directed to Emeric dated Feb. 16. Sorry about that! The rolls you requested are now posted.
And no worries about the light gameplay lately. I've been swamped too.

OK, now that the current scenes have been largely wrapped up, I'll be moving to a final group scene prior to the start of the Emperor Protects that will segue into the published module. If there any further loose ends any of the Kill-team wish to tie up, now would be the time.
I know both Caledonii and Decius have expressed interest in speaking with the survivors of the quarantined Karlack 2nd, but any attempts to do so are politely rebuffed by the Tower of Brass for the present. Don't worry though, this won't be the last you've seen of them.
Once the next group scene is under way it will be time to start mission preparation again, so if anyone wants to get a head start, feel free to discuss in OOC.
