John Mac wrote:The GM hasn't updated it since last night, so mine isn't either. When did you finish your character?
He does need to sleep and go to work. ;)Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come off like me being mean,
I finished 2 days ago
DM Jesse Heinig wrote:Tony_Sinclair, I can't find your character's name.Is it not Tony Sinclair? I thought I put it in the stat spoiler...
Oh! I thought Tony Sinclair was your name, not your character's name. I just clicked into your profile and realized Tony is your inquisitor submission. He looks pretty cool too...
Adrien Belmont |
Just want to throw my hat into the ring quick, I asked about this concept but didn't hear anything back from the GM. Adrien is a summoner from Numeria, who eventually fled after attracting the ire of the Technic League. His eidolon is actually an automaton he discovered, and the reason the Technic League was after him. He functions the same as an eidolon of course, but that's the fluff.
He has no stats at the moment, something I will fix as soon as I'm done with my midterm paper. If you pick before I'm done I understand, but I just wanted to see if I could get my foot in the door. If you haven't made selections in the next few hours, I'll put up his stat block on the alias along with a full background.
Adrien would best fulfill the magister role for the AP, since he is after all a scholar. Ozymandias is the name of his eidolon, and I'll post his sheet up here as well. I'll get back to you ASAP if you haven't chosen. Thanks!

I realize this is practically last minute, but I would like to submit Korath Dar, a wild child brawler, for consideration. While he is primarily melee focused at first level, I currently envision him multi-classing at 2nd level as an inquisitor of Erastil to provide divine aid and skill support. I am in the process of completing his background write-up and will have it finished this evening.
There are a lot of great character concepts here and DM Jesse is going to have a difficult time narrowing down to the chosen few. Best regards and good luck to everyone!

I decided that as no one had submitted a Drow and I had a bit of free time I might try my hand at it (better than refreshing the recruitment page.) After spending some time working on him I did realize the concept might work as well or better as a Tiefling... but he was still a ton of fun to write for.
Here are two quotes that essentially sum up the character:
On "Working with good aligned characters":
"I admire the conviction of truly moral men, yet it takes more than idealism to rule a kingdom. Compromise and literal devils in the details are required for a great nation to prosper."
On "Do you have a criminal background":
"Any man that savors the prospect of power has a few skeletons hidden away. I myself simply make it a point to befriend the local Gravedigger and find out where everyone else has had theirs buried."
As either a drow or a tiefling he would need a "buddy" to be introduced to polite society, but he's the type that honors his debts.

Vilelyen I made a similar character. Mine actually ended up as would be ruler of our nation except the Gm went away boohoo. Mine was a literal assassin lawful evil. She fully condoned punishments such as slavery, before she actually condemned someone to it players were remarking that she seemed good. HAHAHAHA. Suppose it's all because of why you're evil. In her it was a ruthless streak, seems like her and your Tiefling friend are made of the same cloth.
Vilelyen |
Slavery is one of the places to draw the line for an evil character, especially as it's expressly forbidden in the River Kingdoms. "Slavery is an Abomination."
However, ruthlessness is merely a means to an end for him rather than out-right sadism; someone has to deal with the unsavory business of running the kingdom outside of the throne room.
"If you choose to view the so-called 'Criminal-element' as a cockroach to squash and pretend doesn't exist, you'll find that they soon become an infestation that threatens to overrun your pristine foundation. I myself like think of them like bees: mindless stinging nuisances by themselves, but when organized and directed they become quite efficient in producing honey.
Tell me, which would you prefer?"
I've clearly been watching too much Gotham, reading too many Dresden Files, and playing too much Shadowrun for this inspiration
Korak The Boisterous |
Well it wasn't a kingmaker campaign, we were dealing with a post apocalypse and a slowly dying population. And it wasn't some minor infraction, he attempted to murder his wife. To keep him productive, and able to contribute to the gene pool he was assigned slavery for a year and a day as his punishment.

Can I take Keen Scent even though the prereques are Orc or Half-Orc? You know, Skinwalker, animalistic. Fits.
Sure, though in my experience having Scent is less useful than it initially seems, 'cuz it's still a move action to determine direction, and even if you pinpoint a creature's space you still have miss chance if it's concealed.

I have often hear applicants and GM's saying that it is such a hard decision on who to pick and I agree, with such a wide variety of characters it is hard to pick just 5.
For some reason though, I had the following idea pop into my head ... imagine the GM couldn't decide so split the applicants into 5 character groups and got all the groups to fight. The winning group gets the adventure :-P

Sorry for the wait, been a long and busy day.
I like the Numerian archeologist conceit as a character, but I would probably stick that kind of character in Iron Gods over Kingmaker. ;)

To be fair, I would then have to do the work of figuring out how to turn the list of applicants into balanced groups so that each one has a fair chance and has the skills necessary to have a shot at winning, with no group too powerful or too weak compared to the others.
SHOOT ME NOW.

Ok, I've filled out more applicants on my roster.
If I missed you and you got your post in the door before the end of the day on Weds. the 28th, let me know and I will add you to the list. If you post a character after this post and you hadn't already posted your intent earlier in the thread, you'll have to wait for the next recruitment thread to come around, sorry. If I have made any mistakes with your character(s) on the roster, please let me know and I will correct them. I occasionally mis-transcribe something as I'm using a laptop or an iPad (depending on location) at the moment and sometimes it does funny things with text. Also, I am a fallible human. Sad, I know.
I hope to make my final decisions on Friday, Oct. 30. I also hope to be at a Devil's Night party so if I make some kind of half-arsed post in the wee morning hours before I figured out what the heck I am doing, don't be too surprised.
Currently I have 38 applicants on my list, some very inventive characters and a lot of heart going into this. Feels kind of like judging the Olympics, I suppose. The general caliber of applications and the friendliness of the players in this recruitment thread has been wonderful.
DM Jesse Heinig |
So by "through October 28th", you/he is saying we have until midnight tomorrow yes? I just want to be sure I've been burned before.
Also how do you feel about me sin a centaur traits and variants from the pathfinder compatible Advanced Race Centaur supplement I just picked up?
Yes, you've already expressed interest, so you squeak in.
I am very wellllll... about 3rd party stuff. Honestly Paizo occasionally does some bonkers things and 3rd party varies wildly in quality. I'd need to read the applicable text to decide. I have let one person submit a character from a custom race + 3rd party class, so nothing's impossible, but it's hard for me to give a firm "yes" or "no" until I've had a chance to read and digest the material.

Yes but you get caught off guard less since you are aware of creatures, hiding or not, as long as they are within 30ft depending on the conditions. Might save us from a surprise round. Also, I believe it boosts the tracking part of survival. Also wolves have good noses and I like that.

Dibs on the group that gets to fight CR 1s and 2s instead of running into a Random Encounter with a Wooly Mammoth at level 1... though even if I'm not picked I would find it hilarious for one of my characters to be a corpse of one of the ill-fated parties that's found in later explorations
DM Jesse Heinig |
My characters name is the same as my aliase, that's what I usually do, should I not do that?
Anyhow, my character is not on the application sheet.
Looks like you're on line 30. The confusion is simply because I couldn't tell if Tony Sinclair was your account name or your character's name.
Vasilyan Medvyed |
There are a lot of great characters here, I've read some of your stories and all I can say it's that there are enough good characters to build at least 3 parties. I've been through judging for a recruitment myself not long ago, so I know how should it will be a tough decision anyway. I really hope to be part of the story that it's going to be told. Good luck to everyone who has applied!

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
~wink wink, nudge nudge~ Well I mean you could do a pick up game from the contestants if you like Alvissa ^^.
@Tony, typically I have applied for so many games that I chose not to make profiles first for characters and instead wait till selection. It tends to fill you roster up rather fast. Hell even doing it this way, I have filled up a roster rather fast and had too many games peter out.

...and also to luring monsters into bandit camps and watching the ensuing chaos.
Sounds like you wouldn't mind having a Monster Trainer in the party.

Agreed. I keep apping to these games, but I never can seem to get the luck to make it. Here's hoping my luck turns around.
...and also to luring monsters into bandit camps and watching the ensuing chaos.
I've seen a game that I believe is still in recruitment and they are looking to kobolds. All kobolds that is.

On an unrelated note, I was briefly considering running a PF homebrew game called "Five Fugitives from Shaolin," set in mythic China, with players all taking the roles of the masters and their confederates during the flight from the destruction of the Shaolin temple by the Qing dynasty. Then I came to my senses.
