I just read that owlbears have been written out of Pathfinder as of the 2e Remaster, so revel in your glory now, while you still have it!

Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
I missed the bloodlinesYou ha e 24 hrs to make the Craft check to make a trophy, before the body parts spoil.
The craft check was under the arcane spoiler, so I wasn't sure we should reference it. You said DC 19 Craft for taking tropy's Are you considering skinning the creature as taking a trophy? I'd always assumed skinning an animal was a survival skill, if not what craft to skin it?
I was more concerned with the carrying weight if the hide :)

GM_WilloftheWylde |

Skinning it is the Survival Check, turning the skin into something useful and long lasting like a cloak or an owlbear skin rug is the Craft Check.
A trophy from a large creature such as an owlbear is lbs: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1) = 9

Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Edit: So third time I've changed this, trying to follow up without sounding like a curmudgeon.
Monetary treasure can be a rarity in the wild, but canny scavengers and survivalists know how to reap nature’s bounty. Eggs, furs, and ivory of exotic beasts are well-known commodities, but some have also studied the mystical sympathy between certain creatures and different forms of magic. To the right buyer, these components are valuable as more exotic materials.
The following rules for harvesting trophies from creatures...
My assumption would be that since Eggs, furs and ivory of exotic beasts are well-known commodities...have been listed separately from trophies, that they could be harvested like normal creatures. Like bear or deer.
Would Ivar need to apply any rolls other than survival to harvesting the hide of a bear or deer? Which is a separate question entirely, but needs to be answered.
If not, does the rule for other 'hides' still apply? I'm good either way, I just want to know. It will effect how I describe the fluff for his down time. It's easy to spend the time not traveling working on something like scrapping a hide or what not.

GM_WilloftheWylde |

So the process is, Knowledge check of the appropriate type to identify harvestable parts, Survival check to successfully harvest the parts, and then a Craft check to turn those parts into some sort of trophy. The thing about skins is, they rot, so the tanning and preservation of a skin is the Craft check. The DCs are 15+CR, so something like a deer is easy, and we can even handwave the hunting of a deer or other game as part of a Survival check to survive in the wilds. A bear is dangerous game so may be more complicated, although Ivar could probably handle a bear.
For instance, earlier in this campaign, our heroes ran afoul of a lone worg and defeated it. They harvested the fangs and Liamae crafted them into a worg fang necklace, which I believe was valuable enough for her to use as part of her Silksworn Occultist abilities, but otherwise was a mundane but valuable trophy.
Then you could sell those trophies, values are again based on CR of the creature. Or Ivar could sport a cool owlbear hide cloak like Hercules did with that lion.
Some creature have special harvestable parts, such as the venom of giant spiders, or the blood of a demon, etc. that are especially useful as spell components or reagents in the crafting of magic items, etc. Those are the special cases listed at the bottom of the rules.
Hope that helps!

Im starting training for a new teaching position and it's been a usy week but I'll move things forward SOON(tm) promise!

GM_WilloftheWylde |

As we are going into the holiday season here, I expect most people will be away from their keyboards, as it were, so no worries. I'll be around I hope everyone is able to stay warm, happy, and healthy!
PS, Turante I hope you're recovering well, I can bot for you again unless you can get to it soon.

Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
My posting may be slow for a couple of days, I still intend to check the boards a couple of times a day, but I'm not living at the computer. Don't wait for me to make the decisions and if we get in combat bot me if needed.
Both my wife and mom have come down with covid. My mom (86) was almost unresponsive so we called the squad, she's at the hospital. I'll end up being there a bit and taking care of my wife, thus not at the computer as much as usual and I hate posting on my phone.

GM_WilloftheWylde |

please, no pressure, take care of what you need to take care of, and we'll be happy when you're able to make it!

Zeetri Olaru |

I guess my wish hasn't come through yet, though I'd hate to waste it on a ray of frost.
I'm back to work, sitting behind a computer desk for part of the day again. It'll be much easier to post again. Let's raid this tomb!

GM_WilloftheWylde |

Hi y'all, just checking in. It's a busy week for me as I am starting an adjunct teaching position and classes start this week, and I still am working full time at my main gig, so, juggling and balancing a lot right now. I will try to bot and move things forward if we don't hear from Selja and Turante by Friday.

Selja |

Sorry I haven't posted in forever. I hope to up the pace going forward.

GM_WilloftheWylde |

Came down with a cold this weekend, but I'm off Monday so hopefully posting soon!

GM_WilloftheWylde |

yes, I hope everyone is feeling fine, because things are about to get real serious around here...

Túrante Poicellë |

I'm still employed, which is a mixed bag. I have an income and recruiters like it when you already have a job, but looking for work is another full-time job on top of that!
The CEO told us that we all need to start looking for new jobs, so here goes...

GM_WilloftheWylde |

Maybe LE Linnorms are destined for Cocytus?
So I'm just reading over everything very carefully and making sure I did this damned templated build right. I want to do everything by the book, get it all right. I'm so nervous I feel nauseous thinking about it. This is End of Book Boss level stuff, probably even harder, although I'm not sure what book we're on...

GM_WilloftheWylde |

These are the creatures Moira can create with the Spartoi Seeds
Moira has 4 seeds. You could theoretically summon all four with a standard action, and command them to take the tanglefoot bags and attack. They have a +8 with ranged attacks. As Moira pointed out, Soma has the ability to bend undead to his will, so there's risk involved.

Selja |

Having our Spartoi turn on us seems risky. But if I drop Magic Circle Against Evil, the Spartoi can't enter that circle, right? Maybe that's a way to mitigate the risk?
GM WotW--Would you object if I revise one of my spells? I want to memorize a second Remove Fear instead of Weapons Against Evil.

Revise away!

Selja |

The Spartoi are definitely a risky move. Open to other ideas. Remove Fear sounds like a really good idea, though!
I think the Magic Circle Against Evil helps mitigate the problem--because they are summoned creatures, the spartoi shouldn't be able to enter the circle. I can cast it on Zeetri to make sure the spartoi can't mob our caster, though I think we could all hide within the circle to be protected. So basically, I think we may as well go for it.

Ok, thanks, everyone should be good to go!
Moira, I put your spartoi in the storage room area, but you should be able to place them elsewhere on the map if you wish. I've set it so that everyone has control of the spartoi tokens.

Moira Keening |

Wow, we were really, really close to getting absolutely smashed last time we were here. It's merciful that the room is so long.
And now something worse than the mummy is scaring the mummy?
I assume we reject the bargain, hope we smash the mummy, then maybe investigate the deeper threat? Maybe as skeletal champions if things don't go well? Maybe it's just a new friend down there in the underdark, getting ready to serve us tea and cakes?

GM_WilloftheWylde |

Now I'm hoping to rebuild you all as skeletal champions and sending this campaign on a whole new tangent!

Zeetri Olaru |

Okay, this sounds like a really really bad idea, but hear me out. If we accept his bargain, then we can come back more powerful, and smash him a bit easier. We wouldn't even have to go all the way down to that guy's tomb to do what he wants us to. Just get enough power to come back and smash them then decide what we want to do.

Selja |

Gotta go with Moira here. Fight the mummy, and if we all die, find new life as skeletal champions!
