Well, here's what comes to mind.

* This character is a straight-up fire-based blaster. I would of course have some controls for when we run into things that are immune to fire. As an arcanist, I can expand my spell repertoire and learn buffs, debuffs, and utility spells as needed.

* If we want a hybrid traps/caster, I have another character from a defunct game, who is an elf rogue (eldritch scoundrel). At first level the class is kinda garbage but by third they're good for a little arcane magic and they can also do the usual trap business.

* I could make a sorcerer with the Seeker archetype; they get trapfinding(-ish).

* I could go triple threat and do an eldritch knight build that combos trapper ranger with wizard. This character would start without magical abilities at 1st level and would lag a bit, but by mid-level would be able to do trap and stealth AND fight and use magical buffs to compensate for gaps.

If I were picking, I would think build 2 or 3 fits our bill, but I don't want to dictate what you want to play. We can get a scroll of Knock or something for locks and just meat-shield traps if you'd prefer the fire-blaster.

This is a mostly wilderness game, so locks and doors arent a big problem, but traps... There will be traps.

Ok, I repurposed an alias from a dead game, and here is an alternative that's riding the edge!

Túrante is a literal elven princess! But she is no shy and fragile court maiden. She is trained in all the classical elven arts, be it woodcraft, archery, or arcane magic. She is on this expedition as an olive branch to improve relations with nearby humans and to build long-term ties.

With just her one starting level of ranger (guide & trapper), Túrante has trapfinding! She can find and disable traps, including magical ones. Plus, the guide archetype basically means that instead of having a conventional favored enemy, she can call one out on the spot and get the +2 bonus in a pinch for one fight. And she is a helpful front liner at the start - while she needs bonuses like flanking and bless spells to hit, her 19 AC is not bad out the gate. She could also stand beside your existing fighters and give them Aid bonuses pretty reliably.

At 2nd level she'll take a level of wizard, which will become her favored class. Then it's a matter of switching out armor and using mage armor and buff spells to improve her fighting, plus hanging on to some utility magic. By using the exploiter wizard archetype, she can get the arcanist ability of Quick Study, which will let her swap a spell on the fly if she needs to cast a utility spell that she doesn't have prepared.

Long-term, she would get to ranger 1/wizard 5, then enter eldritch knight. By that time she'll have the Shielded Mage feat, so she can use sword and shield while still casting spells and benefiting from mage armor to keep her AC reasonable.

Anyway, that's option #4 from the list above. I have a different alias for the eldritch scoundrel, but that character is much more fragile. No real main combat ability - just sniping and spells.

If you guys are down for political hijinx and can wait one level for arcane magic, Túrante may be just the thing!

If you just want straight-up arcane firepower, Dyseya is the better choice!

So, while things were down, I updated the Campaign Reference doc a bit and reformatted the Inventory Tracker so hopefully that's easier to read now.

Jesse, Turante's backstory is similar to Liamae's, which can make it easier to write you in if you both agree to having a shared history, perhaps knowing each other in the courts of Kyonin. If you decide to go that way.

Sweet! Level 2!

Kytes adds lay on hands for himself, and talons for his familiar, which heals 1d6 and can be used 3x/day.

He also adds 1 Smite Evil per day.

Besides that its +1 to BAB, +1 to Fort and Will, 1 skill rank (Diplomacy) and 7HP. Not sure how you want to handle, but I just used PFS style (and FCB).

We’re doing plot-point based leveling, just FYI, but I’ve planned those points to coincide, more or less with the Medium Advancement Path. Level 1 is a bit different, as it was front-loaded with lots of social encounters. From here on out, things might be a bit tougher. I’m learning how weird the CR system is, so we’ll see.

A little bit about why I play Túrante the way that I do!

Elves tend toward Chaotic Good and Chaotic Neutral in PF, and Kyonin has a national alignment of Chaotic Good. To me, this means that elves from Kyonin are acculturated in a society that places a strong premium on personal liberties and on encouraging everyone to find ways to be their best selves and to be kind and helpful to others. It's a society built on mutual aid with the trust that everyone else is also working to do the things that they enjoy without making trouble. Law is very limited and social censure more common; people are expected to be "good," and if you aren't, you are a disappointment. Really bad folks get "uninvited."

Túrante follows some of the old-school tradition of being an elven warrior-wizard, and so she values the notion of spending a lifetime learning many skills, especially magic. To her, being royal doesn't mean being "in charge," because she lives in a chaotic society. Instead, it means she has a responsibility to be a visible symbol of what it means to be "good." Thus she doesn't necessarily have special authority; rather, she is supposed to be a model citizen. She has to find where she excels and use it in the best ways possible to make life better for everyone!

This means that she doesn't stand a lot on ceremony or title. To her, being royal doesn't mean being haughty or privileged. It means that she has the freedom to pursue a wide range of activities, but she also has the responsibility to use these skills for the benefit of all the people of her culture.

EDIT: This also means zero judgment about Liamae's choice of attire. She trusts that Liamae does what she does best, does what she enjoys, and makes a good life out of it. Until shown otherwise she will assume that Liamae dresses the way she does because she likes it and it doesn't hinder her talents. (In fact it's the source of Liamae's power, so she's sorta correct there...)
