Just confirming that I'm still here. Just been weighed down by a ton of life stuff in the wake of the holidays. I'll work on getting my plan for Fench's level up as well as jumping back in to the game.

Hello folks! DJ Dust was kind enough to give me an invite to your game. My background will probably be tweaked a bit based on his input, but just wanted to introduce myself in advance. Also, if there's any character build tweaks you guys want in terms of supporting the party, I'm open to suggestions.

Also, hello to Jesse / Turante! Good to cross paths again.

Looking forward to gaming with you all!

Welcome Selja! I hope you brought your loaded dice.

I'll get things up and running again soon(tm). It was a busy weekend, and now a busy week at work, but this whole recruitment process has got my mind spinning with ideas, and I'm excited for how things may play out!

Welcome, welcome to a very welcome cleric! The ol' fate's favorite tattoo trick, I see... we can use someone who can pass saves. I don't think Protection's awesome-at-level-1 +1 Resistance bonus will be as valuable in ABP at level 4, since we all get a non-stacking +1 Resistance bonus at level 3.

In other news, I still need to level up... will do that soon.

campaign info | maps

Actually I think it's the Deflection Bonus through Defense Subdomain that becomes obsolete at Lvl 10. But, until Lvl 10, that's a nice boost.

Yeah the resistance bonus from the Protection domain doesn't stack with ABP, but actually Selja doesn't even get that benefit. The Divine Paragon archetype requires giving up domain powers for one of the two selected domains (in exchange for accelerated Deific Obedience boons). It was an easy choice to give up the Protection domain powers for that reason. The Defense (Protection) domain does give access to some defensive spells: Shield and Barkskin, at the moment. I understand the party is in need of a healer, and the best way to heal damage is to avoid it in the first place. :)

Hi everyone! Sorry, started a new job on Monday and it's long hours + I don't have the luxury of working on a computer, meaning I can't easily sneak in posts like at my last job.

Apologies for the radio silence. Working on striking an equilibrium with the new schedule.

And welcome Selja! I love half-orcs, and a Cleric will be very welcome!

Fenchurch level 4 notables:

+1 Charisma
+1 use of Challenge/day
Woodland Stride
ABP: +1 enhancement to one attuned weapon and one attuned armor (My masterwork greataxe and my banded mail)

Plus the attendant increases to BaB, saves, hp, scaling feats/abilities, and skills. Most notable of those is a big bump from Power Attack (hitting for 1d12+11 now! Fenchurch does not mess around!) and a significant bump to Survival as well.

Female Half-Orc Cleric (Divine Paragon of Shelyn) 5 | HP 38/38 | AC:24 (26 vs Evil) T:13 FF:22 CMD:18 | F+8 R+5 W+11 (+13 vs illusion and fear) ; (+2 save bonus vs Evil)| Init+5 | Perc+4 | Haste, Magic Circle Against Evil, Shield, Inspire Courage

For the record, Fenchurch has only executed Lumber Consortium members. Though she’ll protect the woods through non-leathal means (as much as possible) from any illegal logging. (She recognizes the Wildwood Treaty as it currently stands. As for the changes the Marquis wants to make, wellllll…)

Hi y'all. We had a death in the family over the weekend, so had to take some time away from this game. Weird how things sometimes line up like that.

At the other end of the personal news spectrum, my wife is pregnant and we will be expecting our first born in July! (another weird coincidence, considering my PC in Parrot's game just carried and 'birthed' a dragon egg, at about the same time we got the news.)

Anyways, that's life. I'll get started on a post here in a bit.

I'm going to swap out Heroism for Blindness/Deafness to go with Allegro as my 2nd level spells. I figure it's a solid non-lethal option that fits nicely in a spell-storing dagger.

I'll most likely post end of day Sunday. Feel free to RP to your hearts' collective content over the weekend. And if anyone wants to influence Khari's acceptance of the Baroness' offer of adoption, please weigh in. I'd like to have y'all influence the political landscape to your best interests, whatever you think those interests to be.

Sorry for the extended absence everyone! As I explained to GM, I had a bout of COVID and a few other things that made it hard to find time to sit down and write.

I still feel like that post is a little sloppy, but it gets Fen caught up with events and where I need her to being so, huzzah to that at least! Can't hit creative writing home runs every post.

Hi y'all. Just a quick update.

I just want to acknowledge that the group we have now is very different than the party that started this adventure. Out of the original PCs, only Liamae is left, and right now, only Liamae and Turante are under employment of the Marquis. If the party at this point decides to deviate from the mission to obtain the signatures on the treaty, that's totally fine. I do think there's a conversation to be had.

Towards that end, I've added a Quest Log under the Campaign Info tab. I've tried to include all active and completed story hooks, but maybe there's something your PC is interested in following up on. Let me know and I'll add it to the list. Hopefully this can help you find your direction moving forward.

For new players and old alike, the Baroness' Favor is exactly what it says on the tin. It is a token representing Lady Devy's political favor. You can cash it in directly with her in exchange for some request, or you may be able to use it in trade with others who may be in need of such a political favor. It's really up to you how you might use it. Have fun!

dirge bard 5 | hp 48/48 | ac 18 (t 12 ff 16) | ini 7 | per 5| f 4 r 6 w 5 | spells 1/5 0/3 | perform 9/16| clw 3|

We should go shopping while we're in town!

The inventory tracker shows that we have some loot inequality developing.

I propose aiming for roughly equal shares (often a goal in my gaming groups, but not the only way to play by any means!).

Liamae is currently wearing our Headband of Deathless Devotion, but that's because she's sick. If you want to hang on to it, that's cool, Lia! But if you want convert it to coin when you're fully recovered, that would be fine, too--or we could hang on to it and let anyone who is currently diseased wear the headband first-aid style.

But... I think we should sell it.

Once we liquidate our loot, I propose sharing out the proceeds so that everyone ends up with roughly the same value total kit at the end.

I can redo the following math if someone claims stuff out of the loot pile, but for now, see if this makes sense:

The party currently has 2089 raw collective coin.

If we sell all treasure for half value, we'll net 6629 GP, plus 3200 more if we sell the headband (which I think we should?) for 9829 party wealth.

If we sell the headband, then I, Moira, will have the highest net worth at 8776, although that's inflated because my necklace of fireballs and Wand of CLW are both partly used up. But it's close. Here's the distribution:

Moi 8776
Fen 7983
Lia 6851
Sel 3550
Tur 2930

If we’re in a communitarian collective, Moira shouldn’t get any coin until the others catch up. Same with Fench.

We don’t have quite enough gold to get everyone to Fench’s level, but if we share out the 9829 GP to try to equalize the lower three shares, then we can get each of them to 7220.

Lia gets 869
Sel gets 4170
Tur gets 4790

For final wealth distribution of:

Moi 8776
Fen 7983
Lia 7220
Sel 7220
Tur 7220

…with some story work necessary to explain why we’re giving Selja so much treasure when we’ve only just met.

That’s my proposal, what do ya think?

Female Half-Orc Cleric (Divine Paragon of Shelyn) 5 | HP 38/38 | AC:24 (26 vs Evil) T:13 FF:22 CMD:18 | F+8 R+5 W+11 (+13 vs illusion and fear) ; (+2 save bonus vs Evil)| Init+5 | Perc+4 | Haste, Magic Circle Against Evil, Shield, Inspire Courage

I'm okay not taking any of the wealth now, it would be a bit weird to suddenly be given a chunk of change out of nowhere. I'm sure there's a future moment where it would be more logical to equalize.

campaign info | maps

Wow, thanks for doing the maths Moira!

Typically I ask you to highlight the items on the loot sheet you wish to sell off, and you all can distribute the wealth as you see fit.

If you wait another day to do shopping Liamae can roll a new save with Selja's assistance... or you can pay the town clerics for a Remove Disease or whatever casting.

There are specific items available in town I'll post in gameplay, but if you have another item on your shopping list we can roll to see if it's available.

campaign info | maps

hey, just friendly GM fyi, you do have a scroll of remove disease available in your inventory...

please go through the inventory and highlight all the loot you wish to sell off

So, I think we can only sell up to 2500 GP, right? Can we barter to evade that restriction? If not, The Ring of Counterspells and the small +1 chain shirt would get us 2550 (if you'll let us go 50 over) and then we can hang on to the miscellaneous goods for later use or sale. Some good scrolls and potions in the pile.

We could also just keep going...

campaign info | maps

According to the settlement rules, I believe it means you can’t sell any one item over that amount, which means those items I listed are off the table.

I will be out of town from Saturday March 12th until Sunday March 20th. I may be able to check in sporadically during this time, but posts will be much less frequent. I will resume normal posting and catch up when I return.

Safe travels Liamae!

Túrante, for your convenience, here are the rules for copying spells into your spellbook:

Spells Copied from Another's Spellbook or a Scroll:

A wizard can also add a spell to his book whenever he encounters one on a magic scroll or in another wizard's spellbook. No matter what the spell's source, the wizard must first decipher the magical writing (see Arcane Magical Writings). Next, he must spend 1 hour studying the spell. At the end of the hour, he must make a Spellcraft check (DC 15 + spell's level). A wizard who has specialized in a school of spells gains a +2 bonus on the Spellcraft check if the new spell is from his specialty school. If the check succeeds, the wizard understands the spell and can copy it into his spellbook (see Writing a New Spell into a Spellbook). The process leaves a spellbook that was copied from unharmed, but a spell successfully copied from a magic scroll disappears from the parchment.

If the check fails, the wizard cannot understand or copy the spell. He cannot attempt to learn or copy that spell again until one week has passed. If the spell was from a scroll, a failed Spellcraft check does not cause the spell to vanish.

Writing a New Spell into a Spellbook:

Once a wizard understands a new spell, he can record it into his spellbook.

Time: The process takes 1 hour per spell level. Cantrips (0 levels spells) take 30 minutes to record.

Space in the Spellbook: A spell takes up one page of the spellbook per spell level. Even a 0-level spell (cantrip) takes one page. A spellbook has 100 pages.

Materials and Costs: The cost for writing a new spell into a spellbook depends on the level of the spell, as noted on the following table. Note that a wizard does not have to pay these costs in time or gold for spells he gains for free at each new level.

Spell Level/Writing Cost
0/5 gp
1/10 gp
2/40 gp
3/90 gp
4/160 gp
5/250 gp
6/360 gp
7/490 gp
8/640 gp
9/810 gp

If you should so choose to spend your day of downtime doing so. The spellbook might be sold to the right buyer, although you'd need an Appraise Check to figure out how much it might be worth.

In fact, any item on the loot sheet without a listed value will require an Appraise Check, lest you be scammed.

I'll give y'all over the weekend to figure out any other shopping lists, things you may want to do with 2 days downtime. Do you want to use the Remove Disease scroll on Liamae?

Otherwise, let's figure out what your next move is gonna be.

I would highly advocate for using the remove disease scroll on Liamae before she turns into one of the clickers from Last of Us.
