OK, per the ECS (p46), a warforged can repair itself (or be repaired) with the following Craft skills: armoursmithing, blacksmithing, gemcutting and sculpting. Each check requires eight hours and restores a number of hp equal to the Craft check -15, but it doesn't seem to be limted to a single attempt per day, just a single attempt per eight hours. It also says that to do so requires ranks in the skills (so no untrained checks or assists). You can also take 10, but not take 20.

I'll go with Swim for now. Survival and Acro were the other options. Acro does't seem to fit as well given his physique, and I'm not sure how much Survival training he would have (or feel the need to gain on his own).
EDIT: actually, scratch that... i'm going with Intimidate. I don't care if I have a charisma penalty.. I'm 7 feet of pissed-off war machine, punk!

Gotcha. No biggie. I certainly never have all my facts straight.
But you're right, Aubrey could decide that warforged are only healed by being tickled by baby rabbits feet on the third thursday of the lunar month.
.. in which case, anyone got a rabbits foot?
What's the required manifester level on a psionic power to create a rabbit foot?:)

Work got a little hectic there. Going back to your question of Wednesday, Aubrey, I don't own, nor plan to buy, the mythic rulebooks. However, I am agreeable to anything that you think will enhance the game.
On a side note, I poked around and am looking at picking up a second hand Eberron Campaign Setting or Player's Guide. Do any of you have a recommendation? Aubrey, are there any sections that you would like me to stay out of?

On mythic. I don't know I looked around when the playtest was going trough but not much, and did some research now. So far no strong opinion the way or the other. I would guess you would have better idea on how it would effect the campaing and if it would benefit from it.

I see three main aspects:
- it might be fun, and there are reasonable reasons coming up for it to be used from a campaign perspective.
- novelty
- the increased power level allows me to throw more powerful enemies at you, which may make for more memorable encounters and also increases the speed of leveling. Given that in a PbP you might expect to level maybe once every six months or so (more or less, based on my other campaigns) I see that as an advantage as you can see the characters progressing.
That said, it won't happen immediately, simply because I have to set up the situation for "ascendancy" from a campaign plot perspective.

"sure thing Bokenh"
william will do exactly as told with a smile while whistling to a tune.
whispering back to the elf "it make little difference, the soul is already gone all that is left is the body who will feed either fish or bug."
While I appreciate that you are not very familiar with the Eberron setting, your character is a Thrane and from the home of the Church of the Silver Flame, which you can consider to be the nearest equivalent of the Catholic Church in D&D terms. Given that his background is that he wanted to be a Knight of Thrane too, we can assume he would be fairly bought into Thranish and Flamic norms. Tossing a body into the river because you had "lost interest" would not be part of those norms. Thrane is also a civilised place where people just don't do that sort of thing. Even if Will was a rebel, even in those terms it would be anathema to treat a body with disrespect like that - not exactly evil, but hardly in keeping with the ideals of a true knight, especially since it's no skin off your nose to bury him in an hour or so. The Church of the Silver Flame espouses a very Lawful Good perspective which permeates society in Thrane. I notice Will's character sheet doesn't have any alignment put on it - you might want to think about that. Not that you have to be Lawful Good at all - but you should think about his general perspective and how that might have shaped his relationship with the Church and his beliefs in general (given that he is a divine caster).
I did an Eberron primer here (it comprises several individual posts on pages 1 and 2) when my other campaign kicked off. You (and maybe others less familiar with the setting) might find it helpful to orient you.

I have no specific information. They worship "dragon gods", which will probably be a twist in the Sovereign Host and the Dark Six but with a spin based on the presence of a certain dragon and the fact they are living in the ruins of the Demon Age. And they eat people. So knock yourself out.

So, it took us a day to roll initiative. What would you all think if we posted our initiative modifiers on the campaign page and when Aubrey asks for initiative the first player to respond just roll them all?
Rehil Ecraish wrote:Rehil isn't the guy to ask -- why the barricade inside? Why not barricade the gangway to shore or the outside doors? Did they have an open door policy? If the fight started inside maybe they knew the attackers?!No harm in asking in-character. If you don't, I can't let you know the answer.
I guess I was hoping one of the other players would pick up on it. It's probably not that important.

Generally I want players to roll as many of their dice as possible. It's really down to them to to succeed or fail, plus I think it's engages the players - it's quite boring watching somone else rolling dice. In the end, PbP is not a quick medium no matter how you swing it - a day here or there is pretty much how these things go. So my preference is for players to roll virtually all their own dice unless there is a reason (typically, absence) not to. The main delays typically arise because I don't post one night, rather than a few hours waiting for dice rolls.
Wultram Denka |
I prefer in PBP GM rolling the initiative, especially in these international ones, since because of time zone differences it can take a whole day.
That being said I do not feel strongly about it either way.
Rehil Ecraish |
I was just pitching the idea. I'm happy either way. If you have a strong preference for individual rolls, that's what we will do.

So, the classic PbP dilemma, what to do when someone hasn't posted in a while, especially in combat. Should we set up ground rules? Say 24 or 48 hours then one of the other PCs takes the missing players turn? (I gather Aubrey is loathe to DM-PC AWOL PCs.)
I personally am fine with it -- as exemplified when Bi0philia made Rehil's move at the start of combat. I think it's important to keep the game's momentum going.
Edit: AN alternative plan would be to let the missing player slip down in initiative. This might be appropriate in this case because Grazzat's first plan was to "let them come to us". That would let Bokehn and Will go before we reach a crisis with Grazzat.

Sorry folks, It's been a busy week for me. Didn't mean to cause a crisis.
I'll try to keep these disappearances as a rarity, and I'll try to give a little warning if it happens again.
But yeah, I'm with thom up there. I say if anyone hasn't posted in combat after a 24 hour window, by all means, someone else take the action.
