PF guns do require some training to be good, and for most npcs a level 1-3 magewright with a wand of fireball (or even magic missile, which IIRC were standard issue for low level soldiers who could use them) is going to be a lot more powerful in a war than a level 1-3 warrior with a primitive firearm. You might be able to say that firearms are something House Cannith experimented with a little and decided were inferior to magic. Or, you could say House Cannith decided that making firearms and other mundane technology to potent and easy to use would substantially weaken the dragonmarked houses monopolies.
Actually, that can help explain a lot of delays in producing nonmagical technology in Khorvaire : the people doing a lot of the inventing, the dragonmarked houses, have a vested interest in avoiding the danger of mundane technology making them less essential.
Yes, that is good - so good I'm stealing it.

Alright. I will work up the character tomorrow after work.

Looking forward to your PC, Tenro.
Meanwhile, guys. Let's not forget we're in the middle of a battle.

Agreed. Rehil, lightem up!
M Humanborn
Just want to confirm, my character will enter with standard starting wealth and level 1, correct?
M Humanborn
I present Nalverren, Investigator.
M Humanborn
is Nalverren good, oe does he need any tweaks?
Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4
Apologies for posting as me in the Game thread. I got mixed up and thought I was posting here.
I like Nalverren. He should be an interesting addition to the party.

Easily done - I got similarly confused on my Dark Sun campaign a couple of days ago, leading to several game posts being in the discussion thread.
M Humanborn
I had another GM do that a few times as well. The holidays must be getting to everyone.

Well, and it's just an easy mistake to make. Your Investigator looks fun.

An email just went out from Paizo saying they have amended the Investigator class and stuck out a new draft document - don't know if you've had a chance to look at the updated version yet.
Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4
Eben, nice roll for Grazzat. I'm so glad I didn't try again.
M Humanborn
I havent amended it yet, however the changes to not affect level 1. by the time i level up, they will likely change it again.
i will double check to be sure though, i want to make sure there isnt some teensy minor change that i missed.

OK, thanks for the heads-up.

Posting might be a little disrupted over the weekend. I have computer access, but probably won't be able to update any maps.
I'll be pretty busy for the next few days. Just a heads up.
Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4
Ben, feel free to roll for Rehil anytime. In one roll you've done 4 times more damage than I did in 7.
Male elf Rogue 3, Ranger 3, Mythic Trickster 1 Init +4 Percept 11+ SenseMotive +1 59 /59 HP; Fort +6 Reflex +11 (+1 v Traps)(no damage on saves?) Will +3 ( immune to magic sleep, +2 v enchantment) ; AC 20, touch 16, flat-footed 14 (+1 v Traps, +10 surgepoint)
I think Will is up. (Just a friendly reminder while I'm posting my arrow count.
Note to self: Rehil has 9 arrows left.

Wultram, that weakening spell just paid off in spades. He missed by 1... the 1 you took from him just before he attacked.
Sheesh. Thanks.

Going to be AFK for a few days at the mother-in-law's.
Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4
Too bad. I'm back and ready to go.
I hope that visit works out. I like my mother-in-law, but I know some people aren't as fortunate.
Happy New Year everyone!
Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4
Tenro, sorry about recognizing your PC. I got caught by the holidays IRL, and the party's been kind of rushed in game life. Alas, Aubrey's left us with a spoiler cliffhanger that might further delay a better introduction in-game unless we step back a few seconds in time in game while waiting for our esteemed DM to return IRL. WIth that in mind, my next post in game ...
M Humanborn
Hah no worries at all! The better he can just slide in unnoticed the better it is for him.
M Humanborn
Which is why he didnt make an introduction or anything, just acted like he belonged.
Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4
Well, if Aubrey's AFK for a few days we might as well chat...
M Humanborn
Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4
Sorry I've been bolding conversation, Aubrey. I didn't like it, but it's become habit. I'm trying to stop in your game. Really I am.
M Humanborn
ah yeah i have done it as well.
Sorry for the absence. This holiday was crazy. Last minute work projects, unexpected family in-town, and a week of sickness for my little family.
Sheesh.

Eh, no one expects everyone to be very available this time of year. Hope it was OK.

I sure hope these lizardmen brought plenty of spare arrows!
I sure hope Rehil can hit some of them.

Wow, that was so pants.

"So pants"? I'm not familiar with the colloquialism, but I sympathize with the sentiment.
Boy, do I sympathize.

You are experiencing the richness of English English.
M Humanborn
i think it means crazy/unexpected. not sure, that would be a guess from context clues and the occasional British comedy.
No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30
No, it means "rubbish" or "bad". "Pants" in English English generally means underpants rather than trousers (though not exclusively - I'm from southern England but my wife is from northern England and tends to use pants as meaning trousers, so maybe this particular bit of slang is more a southern thing). From there it's a short step to "pants" having somewhat negative connotations - small, trivial and worthless garments, possibly a bit grubby blah blah. Maybe I'm over-analysing. Anyway, here endeth today's lesson.
Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4
Gotta love the cross-cultural exchange. So enriching.
Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4
So what should Grazzat do next round? When faced with melee in the house B-phil went with enlarge and intended on hand to hand. This battle is a little more strung out.
M Humanborn
Wont be on for a bit, having my birthday dinner with some friends and likely to be fairly tired, if not hung over, for a portion of tomorrow.

Cole. wrote: Hes surprised, isn't he? You're right, my bad. AN excess of enthusiasm. So, what will he do in round 1?
HP 95/95 Temp 0 :: AC 24 CMD 24 :: Fort +10 Ref +5 Will +8 :: Conditions: none
I say down-play him since his player's not around anymore. Let's have him stick to Bokehn, attacking any threats that get near our paycheck... er... i mean boss.
It's a strategy that doesn't really require much thought, and slides his character (who's basically an NPC at this point) into the background while still playing a useful role on the team.
Basically, he could Move + Ready an attack every round, and let the rest of us do the actual heavy lifting in the fight.
