My friend is going to back out. He says he doesn't have enough time to keep up with his current games. As much as he appreciated the offer and wanted to join, he feels he would do us a disservice.
Urth Stormraven
Hey. I posted in Gameplay.
How did Urth join you guys? He's looking to kill giants and in Triboar without anything to do. So, it's wide open.
Jysson
Well, you came just a little late. We just took down two fire giants.
But we can always say that you were with the militia fighting the orcs, and then joined us afterwards.

That sounds good. Triboar militia and joined the heroes.
GM Infinity
That's pretty good actually, the militia was out fighting barbarians during the giant attack (which is why it was up to the heroes to save it). Afterwards you rode back and discovered what happened, and probably felt guilty/frustrated about it. If you want to really overplay it, you could resign to Darathra in shame. But yeah, if you have a good heart you might see it in your best interest at this point to freelance.
edit: In other words, it is unambiguously the militia's fault that the attack was as severe as it was.

So, he was a commander or something?
I hadn't pictured him Triboar that long. I thought he would be recovering from the giant pirates that killed his ship. Maybe he joined the militia, because that's where he thought the threat was. Then, joined the heroes when they went giant hunting, because he hopes to find the giant pirates.
Here's his backstory at the moment:
Urth Stormraven grew up near the docks of Waterdeep, the son of sailor. He followed his father to sea as young as he could. While sailing, his faith in Valkur was reward with divine powers.
During one winter when the ice blocked the port, he took a job with a wizard. He quickly picked up spell-casting and eventually stayed a few years apprenticing.
After his master died, he decided to join a crew of rivermen who plied the Rivers Dessarin, Surbin and Rauvin. They shipped goods from Sundabar to Everlund to Silverymoon to Nesme to Yartar to Waterdeep. Recently, his ship was attacked by giants who murdered his captain and crew leaving him for dead near Triboar.
There, he settled there to get his life back together. When orcs attacked, he joined the militia. When they returned to Triboar, he joined the heroes on their hunt for more giants.

So, he was a commander or something?
You don't need to be the commander to take the blame.
For example, as a diviner, you could have had a vision that foretold a great attack on the city. The town would fight back as one, and heroes would emerge from the ashes of the battle.
So the commander, upon hearing your words, took the town militia to stop this attack. It fit. All the town's militia would stand together, and they would emerge victorious as Heroes of Triboar.
Only - the vision wasn't about them. And because they were gone, those living in the town had to rise up to defend themselves, lacking any other defence. And strangers to the town became Heroes after shedding blood and tears.
The commander was furious, blaming you. You left the militia, knowing the town would blame you. But in doing so, it would remove the blame from the entire militia. You - a hero in your own right - accepted that blame, even if it wasn't your fault, because you know heroes sacrifice themselves so that others may live. Only instead of saving a heartbeat, you saved their reputation. You allowed them to stay in good graces, which let them continue to live with pride, live with their spouses, and earn money to raise their children.
This is all just an idea. You can take it and modify as you like, or completely disregard it.

So, getting a bit more variety than I allowed in the original signup for Fallen Fortress. I hope my original players are cool with that. If not, please don't be sore and silent. I am personally much more comfortable with the 5e rules than I was 4 months ago (in short, they are awesome).
Molok Granite Fist
Hi there, I am your new tank. Hope you do not mind having another player joining you. Please check out my alias and if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.....Thanks
Urth Stormraven
Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't see my character as a leader yet or anyone telling others their fortune. So, he'll join the giant-killing heroes blameless of the militia tactic out to hunt giants for revenge.
Cheers

Sorry, though. I should put the spell info in my post.
Bonus action casting, target one enemy, grants me +1d6 damage if I hit. When the enemy dies, I can use my bonus action to switch targets. No save.
Urth Stormraven
Hey Molok, doesn't soldier background give Athletics and Intimidation, a gaming set and vehicles (land)? Molok should have proficiency in Intimidation, a gaming set and vehicles (land).
You get Athletics from your background and race, so you get two more unlimited skills, right? Beyond your two fighter skills.
cheers
Jysson
Background skills are entirely interchangeable. Even with that, Molok is missing his tool/language profs.
Should have:
Race profs (athletics)
Class profs (perception, survival)
Then pick a background and gain any two skill profs and two of language and/or tool profs. (Investigation, persuasion)
So he's just missing either two languages, two tools, or one of each.
Urth Stormraven
As a rookie, I abstain from voting.
I would look to the veterans to suggest the role the module needs more if any.
Cheers
Jysson
I'm fine with that, too. We'll have to put a hard cap on the 24 hour time limit or be skipped/botted with so many players. Otherwise one or two not posting will really slow down the game.

Greetings all! Thanks for letting me join your adventure.
Please let me know if anything on my profile is a confusing, or incorrect. I am happy to make it as detailed as we want. I built my character with Hero Lab, so I am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with it, just maybe missed typing something in.
Quick note: I am listed as CN, but I am not using that as an excuse to be evil.. It's mostly CG, but a bit more selfish at times. I would place my alignment between CG and CN. I am not going to go around being an ass to others.
How should I jump in? Should I read though all of the game history up to this point (I got to page 2 already), or just wing it from where we are?
GM Infinity
Probably not necessary to read all, unless you just want to see how awesome the players are. ;)
Not a whole lot has happened plot-wise honestly, there was a long section of travel that took place in a flying cloud castle, then a huge battle in Triboar that just wrapped up.
Basically all that's known at this point is that giant attacks are much more frequent and widespread than usual. There have been hints that something called the Ordning (giant hierarchy) has been disrupted, and at least one attack where a large artifact was unearthed.
Pindleton is currently unraveling more along the main plot lines, while the others are engaged with an Oni that threatens a Triboar holy site. You could be a captive in the Oni's lair, perhaps.
They also recently received 3 reward quests which are meant to nudge the main plot along. I'll repost those in the campaign tab actually.
Really I'm pretty flexible on how you make your entrance. There is an NPC in town who has been trying to turn his dive bar (the Talking Troll) into a theater. Perhaps you are getting tired of that going nowhere and are eager to strike out with the other adventurers.

I was thinking Dymm might be somewhat of an ex-criminal. Being the faceman for a small gang who would steal from people while Dymm entertained them all. Everyone got caught and arrested. They didn't realize Dymm was part of it. So he is now "free". I imagine he would be drawn to the Talking Troll. Maybe haven gotten bored with it. Not nearly as exciting, or as much of a money maker, as stealing from people. He is probably ready to start something new.. like Adventuring!
Urth Stormraven
Have you three (Molok, Dymm & Jax) been in Triboar long. Urth has been there for a month recovering from a giant ambush. Maybe we could write a story that connects them.
Last night Urth accompanied the militia to face an orc threat, while the heroes we joined defended the town Against the Giants.
Urth's background is spoilered in his profile for ideas. He would have shared it when drinking.
cheers
Dymmathy Flintworth
I figure I will be in the Talking Troll for a few months at least. I could have met everyone there. I would have been kinda quiet about my background. I would have shared that I have been traveling around.
I am not totally aware of the world. I know Golarian pretty well, but not this world. So I am just going to be kinda vague. Traveling around, bar to bar. Learning and telling stories (and helping other steal).

Jax is looking for a place to go, he lived in the wilderness and gianta destroyed his tribe. For months he has been moving from town to town, but hasn't found any groups willing to kill giants with him. He will be exploring, giant hunting or trying to recruit people from the town to explore with him and hear some noises then show up after the Oni dies arriving late.

They only post things on Twitter when the site is down due to maintenance or something.
Sometimes the site is "down" off and on due to too many people trying to access the server. Like right when a new book is released or when an event is happening that would draw a lot of attention to the site. For example, a few months ago Paizo held an event bring in new customers through a bundle package. The site was hit and miss during that time.
Book 2 of the Starfinder AP and Alien Archives was just released.
Jysson
Jysson isn't really all that interested in the rewards, so Quest 2 and 3 are of low importance.
Quest 1 - informing the Harper network about the giant invasion - seems important. Jysson would want to do that one if there isn't a more pressing matter (such as actually fighting some giants).
However, Jysson is really had at convincing people to do things or see things his way, and he doesn't really have the intellectual fortitude to make a compelling argument. He just knows what feels right, and giving warning about giants feels a lot better doing something for gold's sake.
Urth Stormraven
OK. Whenever we RP this in a setting, this is Urth's preference:
1. He hates giants. As soon as someone corroborates that the Harpers is a real and good group of spies, he would want to pursue that lead.
2. He would propose to walk/ride to Yartar and catch a ride on a river boat heading upriver to Everlund. It's quicker than traveling overland, and he's certain that he'll find a friend to offer room if we agree to protect the boat.
3. He will also swear like a sailor while expressing his opinions. You've been warned. Honest, it's in the PhB. ;D
cheers

Jax too hates giants and he is looking for work. With his tribe gone, he considers himself unemployed. He can still hunt for animals, but doesn't have a job. He wants to do the quests, as long as the quests don't require him to do something evil.
