Dymmathy Flintworth
Sure Dymm, if things change and you want to give 5e another go you're always welcome
I appreciate the offer. I will let you know. I enjoy 5e, so if things settle down a bit I might come back. Maybe I will try to jump into another fresh game in the future. Let me be slightly more invested.
Urth Stormraven
Urth would be interested in land rights at some point, But they would be waterfront with a stable government. Urth doesn't think the Waterbaron has much longevity.
I was also thinking that trucking a wagon around with a puppet theater might not be very mobile.
GM Infinity
I was secretly wishing someone would want to keep the puppet theater before I revealed its worth.
Other ideas besides land:
Yartar house with custom fortifications
wages for 20 rogues to be your information network
wages for 20 warriors to be your guard
valuable stuff less heavy and awkward than coin (gems, paintings, etc)
donate to church for blessing and renown
hire craftsman to make the most awesome rukking boat of all
etc
edit: yeah, golds kind of a toy. I can only remember one instance offhand in a published adventure where 2,500 gp was prompted for, and it was optional even
Urth Stormraven
It's only 2,500 gp if you have a buyer, right?
I'm still working on Urth. He's recently had a life-changing tragedy and joined this strange therapy group to kill giants a week ago. So far, only the Harpers quest to Everlund is moving him forward.
Prior to his tragedy, he had his exciting business shipping goods from Waterdeep to Sundabar. Thought about retiring at a port with tavern, inn, warehouse, and/o chandlery. Maybe he'll get back into that mindset.
Does this group have a purpose or common interest hanging everyone together?

Does this group have a purpose or common interest hanging everyone together?
Not really, other than killing giants. We should probably work on that together as a group.
There was never really a time we had linked backstories or introductory RP. When we started it was my first 5e game, converting Master of the Fallen Fortress to 5e, so I just wanted to run it and wasn't that concerned about backstories etc. When we started STK, again there was only a loose motivation to return a dead comrade to Triboar.
As written the main plot that might unite heroes is still kind of a ways off. There is something of a sandbox at the moment where you explore the Savage Frontier as I drop little tidbits of foreboding...that's the idea I think anyways.
Jysson
They didn't like us, because we wouldn't let them kill a cloud giant without proof of involvement with the war.
They we're just indiscriminately killing every cloud giant they could find. Funny part is, if Jysson was in their shoes he would have done the exact same thing. Heck, he just did with a hill giant (that poor old girl we found alone in the tower).
But beyond that, the leader of that dwarven group and Jysson got into an insult contest that didn't end with them on the best of terms. :)
So when we saw them again and Jysson insulted them again, we all got into a fist fight.
GM Infinity
In retrospect, I wish I had played out Darathra's quest in gameplay instead of just listing it with the others...built it up more. I just wanted to hurry things along. I was thinking of it as a side quest at the time, but currently I suppose that's a reason everyone is together and going to Everlund.
Darathra is concerned that the Harper network is somehow disrupted in the region, since it allowed the fire giants to slip by. She gave each of the current party a badge made of platinum with 3 boars on it. You could be the 'Platinum Badge Company' or something.
GM Infinity
Molok, Harpers and the Alliance are on the same page with the giants, though Molok might not know that. Both are hiring adventurers to combat the threat. The Alliance in particular has a public notice of 200 to 500 gold for giant heads, which if you didn't know before would learn in Yartar. I like the angle that you were sent to keep an eye on the original group though, personally.
Molok Granite Fist
Me too, and with the Harpers and Alliance working together against the giant threat (which maybe he learns in Yartar) it fits even better. He would still want to keep his connection to the Alliance well noted, so would be willing to work with Harpers, but would still enforce his Alliance membership...if that makes any sense. I am also beginning to think Molok needs a Passive Intimidation skill for all his stony staring and such...lol
Jysson
I'm still here, just crazy busy. Been working extra hours, have to do over time on Saturday, hosting Christmas dinner for 30 people on Monday, still need to get the house cleaned up with three kids making a mess for every two I clean...
It's hectic.
Urth Stormraven
Merry Christmas and happy holidays. I wish you and your family all the best health and happiness.
Urth Stormraven
Is the fire giant's sword animated? Because I the Phantasmal Force held the giant.
cheers
Jysson
Even after the Christmas rush, I find myself too busy with projects and work to continue playing on a reliable basis.
I'm going to withdraw from the game. Thank you for such a wonderful gaming experience. This was one of the best.
GM Infinity
I feel like the holidays and Jysson departing have sucked some momentum from here. Definitely still interested in continuing if you are.
I also think this sandbox chapter is slowing things down in general, a fast forward might be in order...instead of playing out the days of travel and various subquests. If I'm just imagining things let me know, I want to keep it exiting and engaging for everyone.
I'll go ahead and bot Jax and Sohar for now.
Pindleton Montague IV
I'm still here and interested. But holidays definitely impacted my ability to keep up.
Also, with this section, it does feel like there's not really a larger goal*, but each location has been interesting, so I'm fine with it. I don't mind "You show up at town X and there's Y to do. When that's done you move on to the next town..."
Besides, this is still progressing better than any other PbP's I have been in (and definitely better than the two I'm running! *ashamed face*) ;)
* I also realize, I could do more as a player to set a goal rather than just following along where you lead. So I'll set a New Years Resolution to do that. :)
GM Infinity
Thanks, as long as its interesting. I think at this point there is a pretty clear rail leading to the next chapter, I wish I had settled on it a little sooner but I think its all good. Theres like 100 different hooks in this section (its basically a writeup on the entire North) but only a few make any sense really, its not like Pindleton is just going to be like "Hey, let's go to Icewind Dale...".

I'm back and yes, magic missiling is pretty much what I would have done.
Urth Stormraven
My family vacation is traveling home today. Please bot as necessary.
Did any of the veterans fight a dreadnougtt before? It seemed so from the description.
Could remind me what the does do?
Which sneaky character is still playing? If we don’t have one, then that changes tactics.
Urth Stormraven
Saturday morning I leave for a week on business with only phone access to this account. So bot me if necessary.
cheers
Urth Stormraven
Hi team
I'm home. Besides reading all of these posts, I've got a ton of RL things to handle today. Please continue to bot me if necessary.
And GM, if you could post my HP and any conditions that would be great, so we're aligned.
thanks
GM Infinity
Pindleton at least wants to take the Rod with us so that he can study it further and keep it out of giant hands.
Sounds good, we can assume its safely stashed on the barge in the dwarven chest it came in (Well, maybe not so safely depending on how this plays out...). If you want to assume Pindleton has cast ID on it in the time since then, that's ok. It gives the same info as the one before in Triboar.
