[5e] GM Infinity's SKT [Chapter 5 Completed!] (Inactive)

Game Master mishima

Blow winds, and crack your cheeks! Rage, blow!
You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout
Till you have drench’d our steeples, drown’d thecocks.
You sulph’rous and thought-executing fires,
Vaunt-couriers of oak-cleaving thunderbolts,
Singe my white head. And thou, all-shaking thunder,
Smite flat the thick rotundity o’ th’ world.

------------------------King Lear (3.2.1—9).

Triboar Attack Reward Quests-------------(Oct 4, 2017)----------

1. Darathra reveals herself as a Harper and is concerned that the fire giants made it this far into Dessarin Valley without her spy networks getting triggered. She trusts and tasks you all to travel along Evermoor Way, to visit Danivarr's House in Everlund and inform her people of the gravity of the situation. For identification, she gives each of you a special platinum badge to be delivered to one "Dral Thelev"...

2. Darz approaches with quite the tale. It seems he knows the location of a certain wanted brigand known as the "Weevil", and in some weird styled thanks for your help defending his home he informs you about a 5,000 gold reward for his capture in Mirabar. Look for a dwarf cleaning stables in Xantharl's Keep.

3. Ghelryn is also humble enough to recognize your valor and importance in the battle. He comes to you with a sealed royal letter in hand, a letter of recommendation, to present to King Morinn and Queen Tithmel of Citadel Felbarr (a dwarven stronghold). He promises they will present to you a great reward.

The short, short version:-------------(Feb 20, 2018)---------

Main Plot, as known IC: Giants are going crazy everywhere and no one knows why. Nearly every major settlement has been attacked in the last few months. They are acting unlike giants have ever acted.

Secondary Plot, as known IC: Fire giants seem to be trying to assemble some massive 60 ft tall construct called the "Vonindod".

Active Quests: Talk to the oracle. Talk to the Harpers.

Chapter 1: A Great Upheaval:

We did Fallen Fortress (a PF module) with 5e rules instead of the little intro adventure (not knowing we were going to do STK after). Up to the end of the final battle is in a separate game thread.

The party was sent to an ancient tower that had cracked open from an earthquake near Waterdeep. A troglodyte druid and his bizarre animal friends had taken residence. The party was victorious, however one of their members tragically died during the final battle...a dwarf named Odan, fell to his death when the top floor collapsed. This was up to level 3.

The party decided to take Odan's remains and banner to his closest relative. A bard they helped free from the tower tracked down a relative in Nightstone in return for the assistance.

Arriving at Nightstone, they found ruins and stories about how Cloud Giants attacked them from their castles and uprooted the Nightstone (a large chunk of obsidian) from the town square. They found the frightened villagers in a nearby cave and learned Odan's relative had escaped to Triboar.

Along the way they found a cloud castle hovering nearby with inviting stairs...they were able to hitch a ride from a friendly cloud giant named Zephyros. Along the way they were attacked by Howling Hatred cultists riding giant vultures, then again by Lord's Alliance dwarves delivered in the claws of a great silver dragon named Clarion. The latter encounter nearly erupted into violence but the party persuaded the alliance to leave Zephyros alone. They eventually reached Triboar and Zephyros departed for the Moonshae Isles. Party reached 5th.

Chapter 2: Rumblings:

The party finally laid Odan to rest, but almost immediately afterwards Triboar was attacked by a massive force of fire giants, elementals, and of course orcs riding chocobos. The entire town participated in this most epic of battles. The party was victorious, but never learned why they attacked. Triboar's mayor revealed herself as a Harper and urged the party to travel to Everlund to talk to her people there.

Subquests...A magic item named "Rod of the Vonindod" was also found that could seek adamantine. An identify spell revealed its crafter, someone named Duke Zalto. Rights to this rod were lost in a friendly mage duel. The party investigated reports of an Oni in the forest guising as a god, and put it down. Level 6.

Chapter 3: The Savage Frontier && Chapter 5: Den of the Hill Giants:

A woman approached from the south screaming bloody murder about giants, and the party set off into the wilderness with some new allies.

They reached a barbarian trading field which was a slaughter, and tracked some hill giants to their lair: a massive artificial dam they would later know as Grudd Haug. The hill giants were allied with hobgoblin engineers and wyrven riders, along with some orcs. Again the party executed a massive assault that left the leader "Chief Guh" dead. Guh wanted to be the biggest giant of all, so she ate excessively. Fattest of the fat b+&%*es basically.

With mounds of treasure secured on a river boat they traveled north to Yartar, where Urth's saviness secured the treasure and they had a rest. There in the inn they had another confrontation with Clarion's dwarves, and learned a few things about Vonindod from a gnome named "Chipluck".

Finally, they learned Yartar itself was the target of an attack, their Citadel (a haven for holy men and gateway between the sword coast and the savage frontier) was completely destroyed. Reports indicated the fire giants took a large piece of something from the foundation.

Securing passage to Everlund, the party set off into the Evermoors (a swamp). Along the way they found a cave with some fire giants enslaving some trolls, in an effort to unearth a giant hand/wrist of the Vonindod perhaps. Among the treasure was a second Rod of the Vonindod in a dwarven chest...

Their next stop was Mornbryn's Shield, where they found Zhentarim had taken over the town ostensibly offering protection against giants. The party didn't stand for it and attacked, but during the battle the legendary Harshnag the frost giant (known in taverns throughout Faerun as a giant slayer) stepped in to assist.

It turned out he was actually looking for them. Having heard of their success at Triboar and the slaying of the Giant Lord Guh at Grudd Haug, he offered the take them to a secret giant temple far to the north, the Eye of the All-Father. There, they could speak with an oracle and perhaps finally discover what the f*+# was going on. Level 7.
