How much for a MW wand?

Ok, so I'm going to be playing a Magician Bard and I'm having him be a Stage Magician. Magicians get Arcane Bond at 5th lvl, and I'm planning on taking a wand (Duh, because every good magician needs his magic wand). But I'd like to start with it at 1st lvl. I know you can't start with magic items, and I don't WANT it to be a magic item, just basically a stick that will eventually become his focus, but in the wizard entry it states that bonded items are always masterwork. So... How much would a masterwork nonmagical wand be? Or, how much would I be able to buy a wand that has used all its charges up, since according to the CRB items generally need to be masterwork quality to be enchanted, and "A wand that runs out of charges is just a stick (PFSRD)". So how much could I get a masterwork "stick" for? Or can I just say I have a stick and call it good?

Since the "stick" has no real purpose outside of fluff for the character until level five, I would just say, congratulations, you have a sick. Once you reach level five, you would have two choices. (1) Your "stick" is replaced with a similar one of masterwork quality at no cost, or (2) you could designate a magic wand that you already own, like a Wand of Magic Missiles or maybe something more appropriate for a magician, like an Illusion Wand (invisibility to make things disappear?). I would say Mage Hand or Prestigitation, but you'll already have those as level zero spells.

It's an entertainer's prop, but smaller, simpler and with less need for precise crafting than a musical instrument. A non-masterwork conjurer's wand seems pretty similar to a wooden holy symbol and "Tool, masterwork" should fit the masterwork version. For 50gp, it probably could include at least one trick.

It's a tiny masterwork quarterstaff. Still costs 300gp.

I thought a MW quarterstaff cost 600gp... ;) Double weapon after all...

An unenchanted wand or staff has no monetary value. For the sake of simplicity you can set their price at 300gp but I do not think that is RAW.

Also a wizard's staff is not the same thing as a quarterstaff. The former is a large stick the later is a double-weapon.

Just do this. And spend the first 2 PA you earn to 'upgrade' it to a proper level 1 wand! ;-)

Nope only 300. the arcane bond quality only applies to the staff as a whole or one end for weapon purposes. Although as a wizard using my arcane bond as a melee weapon is not high on my list of priorities.

Currently my wizard has an amulet for the focus, I am contemplating switching to staff and then to start enchanting it.

My gnome illusionist has used his arcane bond as a weapon. And I've begun to think about taking a rank in Eldritch Knight to go with it, simply for silly story sake.

My EK has a greatsword as her bonded item... and has a locking gauntlet. ;-)

Of course you'd prefer the broken spell over the underpowered spell.

You say broken, I say properly prepared

Emphasis mine. It would be free.

That is why my elf diviner loved his free masterwork longbow.

Edit: okay you should get it for free at 5th level, before then as a GM I would allow you to have it for free, since before 5th level it won't actually have any game effect for you.
