@hiyami: It looks like all of your characters are still level 1, right? If so, you can probably use the rebuilding rules.
If not, just make sure to ask if anybody else at the table can activate the wand, when you start each scenario. I intentionally buy dozens of items that my characters can't activate, because there's usually somebody in the party who can.
hiyami |
Oh, that's fair, too! I should've kept that in mind, considering one of my guys was able to use someone else's wand on another person. That said, just out of curiosity, can I get pointed to the rebuilding rules? I don't think I'll use 'em, but I didn't know they were a thing so I kinda wanna know 'em. :D

The rebuild rules for First Level Characters (ie. any PFS PC with <= 3xp, that has not sat down at the table they earn their 3.5/4th xp from) can be found in the Season 8: Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide.
In a nutshell, you can change EVERYTHING about your level 1 PC for free, including name, faction, race, class, archetype, feats, traits, spells known, non-consumable equipment, eye color, shoe size, EXCEPT:
• PFS number
• Consumable equipment (eg, arrows, rations, used wand charges, used scrolls, used potions, etc)
Go crazy, hiyami! ;)

Thank you! You know, I always look at that thing first whenever there's some new information that comes up, because I always know that's where I'm gonna get sent, but I definitely just miss it every time! This time, though, I think I've got a good excuse, at least.
When I was reading that, I was under the impression that's a ruleset only intended for characters affected by seasonal errata and rules changes?
I think I'll leave my character be - it's not a terribly desperate or big change, anyways! c:

No worries! :)

Well, going by the Rules as Written, it’s all day, every day.
However, you’re right in that I suspect the rule is designed so that if a player tries something that doesn’t work how they thought it did OR turns out to be something they don’t like playing, they can change it easily with 'no harm done.'
Fromper |
Nope, the level 1 rebuild rules are for anyone. I've used it on PCs that I played for a session or two, and decided I didn't like them, so I rebuilt them from scratch, and just kept the xp and gold. For instance, my old lore warden fighter that had 2 GM credits and was only played once at level 1 was converted to a warpriest before I played him at level 2.
hiyami |
Oh, excellent! That makes me feel way better! C:
Here's another question though: If my rogue has no day job, but pickpockets for a living, I believe there's a different sourcebook that would allow her to use sleight of hand instead of a profession to roll. (Since she currently doesn't roll for a profession.) That said, once I acquire said material, do I have to jump through any hoops to apply it to her or is that automatic and I can just kind of start rolling with it?

Generally race boons state they have to be your first chronicle.
If your race boon is gained after the crypt one, it is pretty clear you can't apply it. If you got it before... well... I suspect it is against the spirit of the rebuild rules to retro apply the racial boon.
Iff |
but like you said.. .against the spirit of the rules
I'm with Fromper on this one, and think it's perfectly fine. It may be against the letter of the rules ("first chronicle"), but I doubt it's against the spirit. The rebuild before level 2 allows a total rebuild, including the selection of a different race. I see no problem in applying a race boon.

Where is this found? What the vanity is, where the prestige point cost is, and, heck, what the definition of a vanity is?

Read the race boon.
If it says "You must apply this to a character with 0 XP"... the requirement is obvious.
If it does not have that or similar language - i know of nothing in the guide to prevent a 3 xp rebuild to use a race boon then.
don't over-think it.
I still disagree. The rebuild lets you treat it as a brand new PC. When you're rebuilding, you can apply the race boon, and then apply the chronicles that give xp.
But I started a new thread in the PFS subforum to ask for an official ruling.

An official ruling exists already. You are allowed to apply a race boon during your first level rebuild.

Nice. Presumably that means you could take away a race boon that you would prefer to use on a different character as well?

Has anyone heard anything from Steven_Evil? He's in my game and he's been MIA for a while. I'd like to find out if he's okay. He runs under GM Evil.
I'm Hiding In Your Closet |
You'd have to specify which prestige class you're interested in. If it's Society-legal at all, they've likely adjusted the requirements to nix the issue - for example, the Cyphermage prestige class has its Scribe Scroll requirement replaced with a requirement of Spell Focus.
JAF0 |
the book just came out, so I don't know if it's pfs legal or not... it's from the adventurer's guide, which isn't listed in the additional resources list yet, but I'm hoping it will be soon, I've got a character I'd like to develop toward a prestige class, but don't want to waste the skills if it's not gonna be legal. I would think the pathfinder society classes should be made legal, but the 'Pathfinder Savant' prestige class requires 'any one crafting feat' as a prerequisite. I guess I will just have to wait til it's been approved, right?

That prestige class is reprinted from Seekers of Secrets. The entry for that book says:
Pathfinder Savants replace the item creation feat prerequisite with Spell Focus.

I was about to post saying he hasn't been seen in one of my games either, then realized it's the game you're running!
I'd like to know if he's okay also, he's been fun to play with and his last posts suggested he was in a pretty rough patch.

I am looking for a replacement GM for #5-08: The Confirmation. One of the tables in my evergreen arc is three encounters behind the rest. I don't want to hold up the other tables from starting the next scenario, but also don't feel comfortable and confident running the different scenarios at the same time.
I will still handle the table until all of the others finish, which should be within the week.

I'd do it.

I would seriously love to see this 10-11 table full. If you have a high tier 10-11 Core character, please consider it.

Had I known you were short, I would have signed up. I was pinning for 10-11.

Hmmph. I'll make an exception for this one, since Core 10-11 is still looking.
