What do you expect to see in the new Tian Xia World Guide?

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

Besides the content that was already revealed (which I think were just a few of the ancestries that will be in the book) what do you expect to see in the book?

In regards to playable content, I personally would want some samurai-themed options for martial classes or I guess a samurai archetype (though I don't think there would be enough content to make a samurai archetype that isn't already present in the archetypes and classes we already have) and a ninja racket for rogues (likely based around focus spells, also the perfect opportunity to make a Wis-based racket for rogues). Yeah, very original I know.

What do you want to see?

New Monk Stances. More Monk Ki Spells.

All the weeb stuff for characters would be welcome.

Oni stuff, including an oni-based nephilum heritage.

Wayang stuff, which probably means more things oriented around light, darkness, and shadows.

Cool things I can use to entice my players to let me run the Season of Ghosts AP. :)

Words. Pictures.

I hope there'd be more nindorus, love these bastards.

Hopefully some cool exorcist stuff for casters, some Xianxia cultivation stuff for both Monks and Barbarians,

It's probably worth saying that the new ancestries will be in the Tian Xia Character Guide, not the World Guide. I don't want anyone's feelings getting hurt when they buy the wrong book.

Also... it's a Lost Omens release, they're pretty light on mechanical content. I don't expect a ton more than what they've said - six Ancestries, a new Heritage, and a new Magus subclass is a lot for that product line already.

Art, fantastic art.

I would love to see an Iai archetype show up, as Tian Xia books are kind of the obvious place to stick one and it's a concept that I feel really needs feats to work. I don't expect that in the World Guide, since as noted they're big on worldbuilding and lighter on mechanics.

I'm expecting loads of backgrounds. Perhaps some equipment, too, like a collection of new weapons and perhaps an archetype or two.

I'm hoping for the ancestries being introduced in the character guide to get some attention, partially so that they don't feel under-baked like the ones in the Mwangi Expanse book and partially so that I don't have to wait for the character guide to actually drop to find out what they are.

Also I'm kind of interested in the current situation of Yjae.

Kinda specific, but I really, really want a Kanabo/Tetsubo weapon stat block. I have a character who uses one, and yeah I can easily just have them use a greatclub and call it a day, but there's something that doesn't tickle the joy button in my brain to not be able to use a "technically correct" stat block.

I also second the Oni-based Nephilim stuff. I would even be okay with just a straight up Oni ancestry, but that's less necessary per say. I've been using an Orc with the Nephilim stuff that used to be Tiefling, and that's cool, but again it would be great to have specific Oni stuff.

I'm really hoping for more information regarding the deities of Tian Xia, their place in its culture and more of their portfolios.
Our group is slowly planning a SoG AP after our current AOA wraps up (just getting into book 6 soon) and it would be great to have this info for the prospective champion and animist in the party.

Also please please please more info on Hwanggot and the Chang Liao Jungle just for me please. As a treat.

I'd really love to see some details on Sun Wukong. So far we only have his domains and really generic info.

I'm hoping for a book like the Mawangi one, a big ol tome stuffed with enough info to comfortably run a game in a new setting

This with a similarly modern take on outdated tropes. Dragon Empires Revisited.

Oh my goodness yes that'd be awesome. I mean, it'll already be interesting to see what happens in the bestiary.

What traits would you give a testubo / kanabo that is different from a greatclub?

Yes, please. I am running my own version of Jade Regent, but removed anything Jade. Jade does not hold the same value to the Japanese as it does for the Chinese. I have also subtly changed little things, such as names to fit more phonetically to Japanese for those that are directly associated with Minkai. Anyway, I am looking forward to this, especially with all of the contributors that have been listed!

Razing, perhaps. Give them a trait that really emphasizes how much they're meant for smashing.

Grand Lodge

Oo, I don't know about that trait! What does Razing do? Extra damage to objects?

Yeah, it adds damage to attacks against objects and structures equal to your number of weapon damage dice.

Another possibility is switching out shove for trip. While the Kanabo doesn't necessarily look like it has a tripping feature, it's longer than most club-like weapons and I've seen it used to attack someone's lower leg/ankle and send them to the ground.

It COULD even have the reach trait, as I've seen some very long versions that are almost up to the shoulder height of the person wielding it, although that might be a stretch as most reach weapons are longer (but the Kanabo would definitely be one of the longest mace or club type weapons I know about, as most very long weapons are piercing types).

Honestly, there are so many different types of weapons and traits in use right now that I would be pretty confidant in Paizo to be able to make the Kanabo distinct from the Greatclub.

Might be in a different section of the two books, but I'd love to see an expansion (and maybe freedom from the ancestry) of the foxfire feat from the Kitsune ancestry.

Ranged unarmed attacks are an rarely explored niche in the game. I love the concept of foxfire. As someone living in China at the moment, I can assure you balls of fire that people hurl are very much part of their martial arts tv shows.

(Yes I am aware of the third party book that expands on the Kitsune. I'd just like to see Paizo owned work in that direction.)

I would like it better as a Monk / Martial Artist thing rather than restricted to a specific Ancestry

If be down for that. With Kins being a "thing" now I see no reason we can't play with this.
