Hi everyone,

I was inspired by the creativity of fans in the thaumaturge hold over thread to make this thread. The idea is this. Post a number for your idea, and then post a foe (maybe a monster type, or maybe a villain with a specific story) and then what symbolic item you are going to use to ask the universe to make a bespoke weakness. I'll start with the one I gave in the panel even though the others in the thread were much better. You don't have to do it in first person like this, just however you think is cool

1) I shall cast the tyrant king by using these fragments of shattered manacles from a freed slave.

2) I shall bind the poltergeist with these tears from a widow.

This reminds me so fondly of the awesome methods used to craft Chaos weapons as described in the WFRPG Lords of Chaos of yore.

3) Do not worry. This here is the clavicle of Saint Ephraim, high priest of Pharasma, and a great boon against daemons of any stripe.

4.) The ancient dragon’s avarice shall be his own downfall when I turn his treasure hoard against him!

5) You cannot pass... I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the Flame of Anor. The Dark Flame will not avail you, Flame of Udun. Go back to the shadow. You shall not pass.

Wait, no, don't do that!

I was actually just getting ready to create threads for specific character ideas for both the Thaumaturge/Thaumaturgist (?) and Psychic. This seems like a good place to start.

6) Convinced of its power is necessary to destroy the Whispering Tyrant, <insert name> seeks to recover what they believe are the shards of the Shield of Arodan/Arnisant. Whether these shards are legitimate or not is the question; and yet, the power they resonate is undeniable.

Here's a Multiclass one!

9) <insert name> always knew he was capable of magic, but was never able to cast spells. That changed one day when he was able to coax the latent magical power which he believed lay dormant in his own blood, manifesting as sorcery. While not very powerful, he was capable of coaxing further power from objects related to his bloodline.

12) These arrows were made from a particular tree which is the kind of pine whose seeds only sprout in the wake of a fire. So when you burned my village those years ago, you were literally writing the end of your tale- sowing the seeds of your own destruction.

13) Have you ever seen the ravages that green carnivorous moss inflicts to a Flesh Golem ? It's pretty horrifying actually.

15) Legends persist of a mythical sword whose blade sits plunged into a stone. They say that only the rightful heir to a mystical kingdom or a fabled hero of prophecy can pull it from its holding; so when <insert name> the Goblin managed to find and free a rusted dagger (which was big enough she believed it a sword) lodged in a rock, she thought herself both!! She now adventures with her "sword" of power, convinced of its might and her own destiny.

27) Amongst the occult practitioners of the world, beings of supernatural and paranormal origin are considered especially heinous. The dedicated individuals who investigate these dangerous creatures are members of an elite squad of Thaumaturge known as the Commission of Occult Investigation and Neutralization, or COIN; identified by the antique coins of power they carry. These are their stories.

29) "Oh, you mean this?", the shady salesman holds up a silver chain, clearly newer then the dulled pocket watch dangling at its end. "Well this old thing. This belonged to me great grandfather, who used it to, uh, 'liberate' folks o' their belongings. Let 'im tell it that he came upon it in a horde of a Time Dragon, and that he used it to stop time itself to make his escape. Least, that's what the old codger used to say. Course, he lived to be about 300 years old; so his memory wasn't that great. Tell ya what, I'll give it to you for, say, 200 shillings?"

35.) This relic was used by one of the Asmodean Champions known for following the Way of the Wicked. However, it also represents how House Thrune needed to rely on outside agents to secure their rule over Cheliax rather than their own strength, which means it will hurt their forces nonetheless.

36) Harpy Musk. Where did I store my Harpy Musk ?

37) Harrow cards are useful for many different enemies, depending on the card. My avatar, The Rabbit Prince, could be used for a noble or royal blood, but also anyone in battle- although this second one tempts fate. If the GM enjoys harrow and doesn't mind broadening things a bit, then the card drawn might even give a clue about some aspect of the target. Is The Rakshasa literal or metaphorical this time?

For some reason this felt very Martha Stewart, and now I can’t shake the concept of a Martha Stewart Thaumaturge with her helpful adventuring tips!

Everyone knows that a sprig of holly through the heart can solve any unsightly vampire problem fast. But what can you do if you don’t have any holly? Well thankfully with just a handful of ordinary blueberries, a stick from any garden, and a splash of life elixir for colour, you can make your own gorgeous faux-holly sprig that will leave even the most terrifying of vampires shaking!

“and so, with the last of the mortar excised, the brick can be successfully removed.” The amber-skinned elder thaumaturge’s delicate hands placed the bricksaw in the sleeve of the velvet mat next to the other tools. Hands covered in white dust clapped together softly, then wiped unceremoniously on the voluminous robes.

“But what is achieved?” the peering apprentice asked, her nose screwing up to her eyes, not really understanding yet what was to be gained by this “making of a hole” created by the brick now held by their instructor. Amae smiled their incandescent smile and, dropping the brick on the ground, eyed the hole, making a brick sized shape with their fingers to make a visor around the fissure. Amae nodded then indicated the hole to their student who dutifully looked in.

“I see nothing…” the youth said, unsurely, unkeen to touch the ruined masonry.

Amae now indicated the brick with their slipper’d toe. “Now, hold the brick.”

The youth frowned, but bent and retrieved the brick.

“Look through the wall - see those platonic solids on yonder table? Manipulate the brick and thus give the one with many sides - yes, the polyhedron - a nudge…we will force their hand this day…” Amae murmured cryptically.

Amae’s eyes glittered closed as they felt the warp and weft of the multiverse bend to their fate.

45: Against the rancid filth of the ghoul, a rose of any name shall smell so sweet.

46: The puppetmaster's strings are little match for a common pair of shears.

47: Air elementals might be tricky to bind, but a hangman's noose for choking the air from its victims shall do the trick.

48: Those who hunt werewolves often carry silver blades, but a true thaumaturge needs but a single coin.

A goblin scrounger thaumaturge seems like a fascinating character.

51) This bucket might just be a bucket to you, but I know its secrets. And soon so will you. Your mental tricks have no hold on me, but with the power of my bucket I shall put a hold on you.

52) Oh, an assassin? All the stories say you love working silently in the shadows. Now, I don't have any way of knowing if that's true, but like I said, that's what the stories say, and those are truer than true, sometimes.

Like, say, when someone with a gun makes a lot of noise and light. The stories say you should HATE when something makes a lot of noise and light.

Let's find out, together!
