Hey Gang —
There’s been a ton of sturm and drang on these boards of late. I understand why — we have things to process as a community. While they’ve raised awareness and asked some important questions about who we are, they’ve also created some hurt and ill-feeling.
As someone who is here with Organized Play because I love the community, I’d also love to hear your happy news too.
Do you have a great convention coming up? Did a player surprise you with a funny bit of roleplay? Did you get a new GM star? Are you looking forward to the Free RPG Day offerings? Did you play a great scenario and want to congratulate the author? Tell all of us your happy news.
Sometimes we need a spoonful of sugar.
Hmm

Thanks Hmm. I just got my fourth star and am definitely looking forward to some good convention play this summer, with ConnectiCon in mid-July and GenCon a couple weeks after that!
Also, if you are not listening to the glass cannon podcast, you should be. It's an actual play cast going through giantslayer - 150+ episodes in now and worth starting from the beginning. They've also just started up a starfinder cast called androids and aliens playing through dead suns, which is pretty good so far.

Congratulations on that Fourth Star, Pete! I’ll be at GenCon too. Maybe I’ll see you there on Wednesday Setup or on the Sunday after games. I’ll be GMing in the Demo Hall. I will totally echo your fandom of Glass Cannon. I enjoy both them and Know Direction enormously.

My spoonful of sugar for today:
I am 9 games away from my third star. I’m excited and amazed that I’ve run that many games so far.
Free RPG day is coming up and I’m planning on running goblins twice! It looks so fun, I can’t wait!
But by far my biggest excitement comes from our next convention. Midsummer Conquesr. We have received permission to run the starfinder interactive quest!! We’ve advertised it on Facebook and I can’t wait to see how many people we get, and how far they will travel to get here.

A couple of weeks ago, I had one of my best PFS play experiences ever. My Ulfen berserker cleric of Iomedae, Icona Pop, made it to 12th level during a running of 8-99B: The Solstice Scar organized at Table Top Games in Westport, MA. Icona got the killing blow in on the final big bad with only the barest number of her hit points remaining.
Special thanks to JDDyslexia for organizing the event, Iammars for GMing the table I was at, and Upaynao for an amazing display of Taldan military tactics (stand at the very top of the hill while in an archery battle so that you're silhouetted against the sky). It was a four-person table, and the other folks there were also a joy to play with.

Kara, congratulations on being on the 3 star countdown! I totally know what that’s like. It’s a neat way of seeing how far you’ve progressed in the Society!
PJRogers, congratulations to hitting Seeker in a great game with a great GM. Iammars is one of my favorite people in Society — Jen McTeague shares great prep with all of us, and is a shining light! The fellow players sound great too. Upaynao was in a game with me in GenCon and was an utter delight.

I hit both three stars and two novas in the last few months, and I’m quite proud of both!
I’m looking forward to 9-24 coming out and seeing what people think of it.
I’m starting to look forward to GenCon! It’s really coming up fast! I’m running demos in the exhibit hall alongside Hilary, so come try out PF2!

I had a root canal. (your "Spoonful of Sugar" made me think of this...lol)
Trust me - I was prepping to run a game on Tuesday (last week), and a tooth problem started on Friday. Had to wait till Monday to see the Dentist, then wait till Tuesday morning to see the Endodontist... and by then I was REALLY glad to get the procedure. The root canal was a VERY GOOD thing.
Then that Tuesday night ran one of the best games I've run in a long time. "Voice in the Void" - with a bunch of extra creepy window dressing pushed in... Great Scenario! "A good time was had by all."

GenCon is coming up fast! I'm looking forward to volunteering in a new capactity with Pathfinder Academy. I'm excited to GM for little kids!
Also, the little lodge I started in November of last year has been growing steadily! We typically get at least 1 or 2 new people each game day and have added another day of gaming to our bi-weekly schedule! I'm excited to show them Starfinder later this month and see how they like it.
I'm also PUMPED about playing SkitterShot this weekend. I don't think I've ever been this excited for a Free RPG Day scenario. Seriously.
Thank you, HMM for giving us a spoonful of sugar. I know I definately needed it!

I earned my second nova in the past couple weeks, and am finally going to be able to GM SFS 1-16, for which I wrote one of the quests, at Origins this week. I'm very excited to see what everyone thinks of it! I'm presently en route to Origins, and excited to see the community out there. Plus, I rediscovered some GM credit chronicle sheets that I'd thought had been lost to time, meaning that my warpriest of Nocticula will finally be able to see play!

I think I can contribute something neat? Long CSB incoming I guess, lol...
I'm a freshly minted GM. I've been a homebrew player for years and only recently decided to pick up GMing. When Starfinder released, I couldn't find any games to play in - so, I resolved to try GMing a homebrew table with friends.
I've always been interested in organized play, but I never took the dive as I live in a rural area where I have to travel a minimum of an hour and a half to play at a sanctioned table. Despite years of resistance, my sister finally dragged me to a con in Sacramento earlier this year and... I couldn't have had a better time.
I bought a module (1-10) on a lark and ran my homebrew table through it a couple months ago. They all had a riot! So, that table has now flipped to OP and we're all starting to make plans to carpool to "nearby" cons.
Anyways, I'm two games away from my first nova. It's not an impressive milestone, but I'm really looking forward to it. I'm trying to knock it out this week so that I have something to show before I GM my first convention table on the 22nd.
Wish me luck if you're at RAGECon, eh? I'll be the nervous one haha

I am both excited and terrified of GenCon. I'm taking on a lot of tables, and it's going to be a new con in a new place, but I'm looking forward to it and I want to meet all sorts of people from these forums there!
I'm also hoping to hit 4 stars either at GenCon or shortly thereafter.
How many different adventures did you say you would be willing to run?
Running the same adventure over and over does get tiresome, it does help in the prep time.

It depends on what you’re running over and over. I have a huge appetite for GMing quests because they tend to play a little differently each time, and because newcomers bring such enthusiasm when they’re trying something out for the first time.
Joe Bouchard — GenCon is a blast, but a ton of work. The way to thrive is prep ahead, pack lunches and cough drops and get sleep when you can. I look forward to meeting you!
Hmm

I have had a couple of neat things recently:+
- A surprise visit to the Netherlands, in theory to core of the visit, was to attend a local convention, but it ended up as so much more than that.
I met local players, even a player from Germany who now lives in the area and I hadn't played for years (we had a memorable scenario were he was a player.. one of my few kills a level 1 witch drowned in a puddle) and local guests, but the talks after the event were really quite something.
- These days it's when I prep a scenario I experience different levels of dread about how the players are going to decimate the challenges provided. I have found that a good story and roleplay opportunities tend to distract me from problems like this.
Life Exploration Extreme (SFS#1-09 was one of those scenarios, I really enjoyed running it recently... let's be frank, I had more fun portraying a certain well dressed NPC in that scenario than I had in years.
- I recently got to play PFS # 9-13 the Lion's Justice and by happy circumstance, I, could do it with Lau Bannenberg's Ulfen Guard, the GM did a great job, and it was one of the tables I was looking forward to for a long time. My character was a huge Lion blade fanboy, he is a half-elf hunter with a lion primal companion. so when I finally saw the cover...
When I saw the cover, I knew that we have reached peak Taldor.
When it comes to the future I am looking forward to more SFS releases, and I am thrilled by the chance to playtest PF2 soon. I am already looking for ways to organize it.

Long ago, when my children were very young, I would use Starburst candies for monster tokens. They are the perfect size, and easy to use, very convenient. I would pitch in a pack or 3 whenever I was running a game and plop out "Four Goblins" who just happened to be IDed as "Red", "Yellow", "Orange" and "Pink" when the scenario called for them. If the scenario had a large number of mooks in some encounter, I might grab a pack of Tropical Flavors in addition to the Regular Flavor... And as a result, the "you kill it you eat it" rule was invented.
This led to me calling Starburst candies "Monsters". And my daughter picked up the habit from me...
Now (20+ years later) it seems my grandson has picked up the habit of calling Starburst candies "Monsters" from his mother...

"No, Madam Hilary. He sometimes posts as that damnable barbarian, the one that causes all of the property damage. Sometimes the posts are a little more vulgar with that one. You have heard where his continual flame is located, and where he's implanted his ioun stones, right?" The Hellknight just shakes his head.
"Why Taldor brought those people down from the winter wastelands is beyond me, and probably a large part of their decline."

i GM'd a table at PaizoCon where i encountered my first [and probably ONLY] PFS GOBLIN.
I'd love to go to Free RPG Day- as my venue is offering both Skitter Shot and We Be 5uper Goblins... but i'm stuck working. :(
In one of more recent Funniest PFS Moments posts: playing Perils and Plunder module, the party of mostly martials were about the give up a fight and run away from a boss we couldn't fight [with aquakinesis, DR 10/Cold Iron, AND Fast Healing 10]... My character was praying to his new god, Gozreh- just to he could get away from the boss [he nearly drowned due to the boss's aura causing turbulent water immediately around her], the GM took a couple d6 from everyone, looked me in the eye and said "Your prayers have been answered!" when dropping all the dice on the boss's pawn. Max level Flamestrike, from my new god Gozreh.

Let's see....had an amazing time playing PFS & my first game of Starfinder at DieCon 18 this past weekend, among other things!
As our fearless leader mentioned several posts up (*waves at Amber*) our local lodge seems to be growing! Sadly I've not been able to make any games in recent months due to work schedule woes but it's nice to see new faces trickling into our Facebook group :)
Um...I'm excited to see what happens in upcoming months with Online events, especially PbP Gameday VII!
It's also nice to see more and more new faces showing up in the Flaxseed Lodge and more people beginning to step up to GM :)

^ By the way, this is something that I am incredibly proud of.
Ladile is one of the best PBP players I know. She started as one of our online-only people, and then loved PFS so much that she branched out to trying local convention play. Amber's folks were so welcoming that Ladile now has two lodges she can call home.
Ladile's become an amazing PBP GM too, and recently earned her first star in OutPost! Go, Ladile!
Hmm

Honestly, if they dropped 8 unique scenarios on me, challenge accepted. I know two tables are the PFS specials, so we'll see what I get from there.

here's a Funny Story (a little old, but I'm needing something to lighten my day and the boards today are generally depressing)
The Adventurers are about to jump into the final fight...
The Dwarven cleric, wanting to try out the new spell IronBeard, gets the druid to let him cast it on her AC - a Large T-Rex. She uses a plastic toy T-Rex that sort of looks like Rex in Toy Story. So the party bursts in on the BBE and rushing into melee in the front line is a Bearded T-Rex. To make it worse - the Sorcerer (from behind Rex) in the party casts Hideous Laughter on the (non-humanoid) BBE, and we have the following....
Judges description went something like this -
"As the doors burst open and the Large Bearded T-Rex rush's into the room, (insert BBE name) whips around ready to respond to the threat that has appeared - only to catch sight of the Animal Companion and collapse into gales of laughter. Hands clutching his sides he rocks back and forth on the ground, drumming his heels on the floor. Every few seconds he draws a breath - only to catch sight of the bearded lizard again and erupt all over again in giggles."
The Druid waving the T-Rex figure and saying a half hearted "Rrraaarr!??" didn't help matters any.
Needless to say - the fight went well for the PC's. The BBE missed the second save and it was all over from there....
I do think that Rex was a little hurt by the reaction to his charge though.
All things considers, it was an Epic Fight (even if it was a Cake Walk).

(in the email the GM sent to all the players before the game):
I will remind you to be prepared for the basics.
Disease
Poisons
Ability damage (potentially drain)
Swarms
Invisible opponents
Incorporeal opponents
Extremes in temperature
Being grappled
Religious extremists who do not like you
Travel in an area where Pathfinders are not legal
Then AFTER you leave the venture captains office...

After 8 years I finally got a new smartphone so I will now be able to post regularly on the Paizo boards. No more time limits on the library computer. I have never played any type of online game ever but i am seriously considering giving PFS pbp games a try. PFS is still doing quite well at all the stores up n down the Colorado front range (except this weekend with Pride Fest, Denver Comic Con, and Father's Day happening all in the same weekend). I'm looking forward to GMing my Core game of Perils of the Pirate Pact on Sunday. Oh! And i hit 150 games GMd a couple weeks ago. Now on to get in a few Specials for that 5th star! :)

a little old, but still a fun game and worth mentioning to other players...
I have a (Bard) "Face" PC who is very good at what she does, but she has almost no combat abilities (lots of buffs, etc). Most of the people at the table know her as my Chalaixian Whip using "lady of the evening". She OWNS face skills, and she can really buff, but she has never actually done a HP of damage to anything other than herself (Confusion Effects for "hit Self"). I'm careful to tell this to everyone at the table when I sit down and we go thru introductions, that way no one is surprised by it later. And she actually contributes greatly to any group she's in...
Anyway, in the middle of a nasty encounter, the bad guys start tossing out Dominate Persons. Three saves later (plus one reroll) my lady is dominated and told to attack another PC.
Judge asks "Do you have a weapon?"
Me: "She's got a silvered spiked gauntlet - but it's really more like jewelry. It only does 1d4-1. OH! And her whips - though those are more 'day job tools'... they really don't work on someone still dressed...".
Judge "What? That's it? No other weapons?"
Me looking down at my character sheet trying to come up with something "Wait! I've got a dagger written down here on my Combat section, so I must have one someplace ..." flipping thru sheets in the folder to find my equipment sheets. I get an image of my little lady digging into her haversack - tossing scarves and silk clothing about while digging in the bottom... "Yeah! here it is! I've got a dagger! I bought it when I was first level. It must be in my pack someplace ..." I get an image of this lady digging in a shoulder bag muttering something about - "I know it's in here someplace...".
All this while the Tank in the party is doing 50+ HP around the corner and out of sight of these Bad Guys.
So she pulls out the dagger and takes a couple swings at a friend with her dagger (and the Bad Guys take AOOs at her), with everyone cringing with me - afraid that I'm going to hit somebody and spoil her "perfect record" and do actual damage to someone else!
Then a few rounds later and the Halfling Life Oracle in the party get's dominated and announces that he is even MORE combat useless than my harlot. "I've got a spear on my back, but I only do a 1d4-2..."
Tank in the next room - "76 points of damage with the crit..."
Talk about a polarized party.
