Zoja Jadwiga Betyrina |

I looked through the submissions more closely and realized nobody seems set up for ranged combat. I went ahead and switched the character to an archer sound striker bard. Skalds and archery don't mix well at all.
Since DEX matters more for that build I changed to Aasimar (Azata). It allows Zoja's background to remain the same since Aasimars can just pop up in a family for no apparent reason like sulis. The crunch is all redone, and I'll need to make a few minor detail changes in the fluff to account for the race change.
As far as playing what I like goes, I tend to be more concerned with the RP concept. As long as the build logically supports the RP concept I'm good with it. The class, weapon, and race switch still give me what I'm looking for with Zoja so I'm satisfied.

Zoja and Nessa might get along very well. They're both CN Calistrians with the Hedonistic drawback. Partners in crime. Maybe they already know each other from worship services. But what happens in the House of the Silken Veil stays in the House of the Silken Veil. Zoja has no idea she's aasimar (scion of humanity).
There may also be some interesting rivalries though.
Zoja'a main job will still be party buffing, but hopefully her ranged damage will be significant.

DM Gee-Em |

In addition to my friend's ratfolk rogue, I have chosen these five to join him in the campaign:
Nessa Meretrix, Stitches, Kavakha, Zoja Jadwiga Betyrina, and Valai Darkrune!
To the Chosen: Congrats! Please drop a dot in the discussion thread. We'll start after Christmas Day, so happy holidays!
Everyone else, thanks for showing interest. It was hard with such a banquet of submissions to pick from, but I had to pick. Best of luck with other adventures.

DM Gee-Em |

Hello, I am reopening recruitment for my Second Darkness campaign. I am looking for a submission to fill a healer role. Will keep this open till the 23rd. Check the first post for character creation rules. We are using Roll20 for combat.
We are in the first combat, a heist in a gambling hall, so your character can be someone at the gala event. Our current roster includes a tiefling sorceress, a duergar monk, and an elf wizard.
Thanks.

Ouachitonian |

I’m interested. My previous entry, a Ranger, can’t really be thought of a healer until he hits L4 and gets spells, but I can put together something else, probably an Inquisitor or Warpriest. Would a Paladin work? He doesn’t get Lay in Hands until L2, but from there out a paladin can be a decent healer, and it does look like the group might could use some combat power.

Khavakra |

I am one of the players in this game.
As it stands we still seem to have a wizard, a sorcerer, and me, a monk.
What do we NOT have?
- healing magic
- enough front line fighting power
- skills
It really depends on how many new characters we take.
A paladin would be welcome because I am the only frontliner and we have two fairly squishy arcane casters. But a paladin doesn't fill the healer role very well. Right now we have no one who can even cast cure light wounds. And that worries me. Overall a paladin makes a mediocre healer. Realistically most of the time a paladin should use lay on hands on himself, since swift action healing is one of the things that lets the paladin stay fighting.
A warpriest would be better than nothing but they don't get a lot of spell slots. Same with inquisitor. On the other hand, an inquisitor would have a lot of skills and could do the skill monkey thing. It is possible that if we have decent access to magic stores that using wands will be feasible. The campaign does start in a city. But I suspect that later in the game this will not be so easy.
If we take more than one character then we can be a bit more flexible. But I am hoping to see some oracle and/or cleric submissons.

DM Gee-Em |

I'll take two or three submissions, then. If my players feel they require it, then I - as a GM - will try and provide.
Like I said before we'd need a healer and I'll add either a skills monkey or another frontliner. If we can fill those three roles with two submissions that'd be ideal, but originally I was going to take on six players, so 2 or 3 more players will be selected.

GM Mowque |

I have been contemplating a dwarven Stonelord (a paladin archetype). I see you have a Duergar, Khavakra. Is it possible my character could be here to find her? Unlike so many of his kind my character would want to find and 're-rehabilitate' her. Could be some fun RP there, getting off his high horse.
Just wanted to know if it was an idea the GM and Khavakra would be interested in?
Stonelord is a pretty weird archetype though. If you feel it gives up too much paladin stuff you are looking for (making it unlikely to be selected), I can play a dwarf of a different class.

hustonj |
So Cleric (Merciful Healer archetype or Healing domain [Restoration sub-domain?]) and Oracle (Life Mystery) are the obvious hits.
A Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) focused on Con and Defense or a Fighter (Shield/Tower Shield Fighter or Unbreakable or maybe a pole-arm master) designed to be a wall absorbing damage so the arcane casters can kill things seems like a potential fit. You don't seem to need a way to kill things, just a way to keep them at bay.
Bard (Arcane Duelist or Arcane Healer) seem like a reasonable back-up in all 3 roles.
Druid could serve as a healer back-up while the animal companion could help on the grunt side of things.
Nothing beats Rogue for the skill role, but Ranger, Hunter, and Investigator all fill that role reasonably well, while also providing back-up healing. Slayer also covers the skill role, but doubles down on the combatant side instead of the healing side.
Warpriest really is good secondary for 2 roles.
Cleric (Merciful Healer), the grunt walls, Bard (Arcane Healer), Investigator & Slayer are the ones I'm not already playing somewhere.
I need to play around and see if a personality for anything that fits your needs finds me.

Cuàn |

This sounds interesting.
I'd be looking at creating an Alchemist using the Chirurgeon & Wasteland Blighter archetypes to become a better healer.
I might also slap on Vivisectionist to become a better melee combatant but that would mean becoming more MAD and as such probably worse at healing.
Another idea would be for pure melee and a character I've wanted to play for quite some time now, a Siegebreaker Fighter.

CaptainFord |

@Cuán - Sounds like you've got the same idea as me. X) I was going to be submitting a chirurgeon and vivisectionist alchemist who is a recently graduated physician from Lepidstadt and a member of the Malkenclaw dueling fraternity. Heal checks for everyone!
...though, a cleric of Cayden Caelien who's a recovering gambling addict might be fun too.

Robert Henry |

Hey DM Gee-Em, Since your looking for players again I will post a Slayer soon. I was originally thinking ranger but I think slayer may be a better fit.
He will be able to do both skill and front line, having a high enough dex to handle traps fairly quickly.
His back story may not be as entertaining as Seljak's was, but he will at least be able to speak without a lisp

Jack Callahan |

Still tinkering a bit, but I went back and revised this character for the campaign. Presenting Jack Callahan, the Responsible Big Brother(tm) of the group.
As for connections, at the moment, the friend he is going to help is just a nameless NPC, but if anyone wants to volunteer as the friend he's going to watch out for, I'm game for it! Or if you just happen to be a regular drinker at the Publican House, he'd know you from that too!

Lazyclownfish |

Hey all, I was hanging out in this recruitment the first time around but I didn't end up finding a concept I liked. This time, I've found inspiration for a character that will comfortably fill the front-line and healer roles.
She's a Shoanti of the Lyrune-Quah(Moon Clan) who is something of a young spirit-talker for her people, come all the way from the Cinderlands to Riddleport to figure out why the moon does not shine here lately.
Mechanically, she's a Spirit Guide Lunar Oracle who will fight with traditional Shoanti weapons(and not the longbows of her clan. She's a terrible shot).
The concept does require her to have befriended one of the other PCs beforehand in order to get her to the gambling hall, but I imagine that can be worked out.
I'll probably have the full submission ready tomorrow or Tuesday.

Chalkou |

Alright, this is Ouachitonian presenting Chalkou, catfolk Inquisitor (Sanctified Slayer/Umbral Stalker). He's something of a jack-of-all-trades, and can contribute in all three areas of need, though he doesn't excel at any of them. He knows CLW and will be able to use whatever cure wands we come across, though his own spells/day are somewhat limited. He has a fair number of skill points, plus Monster Lore and the Umbral Stalker's Swift and Silent feature (replaces Stern Gaze with an equivalent bonus to Acrobatics and Stealth), so he can contribute with skills. Finally, He starts a little slow, but will eventually become a pretty solid combatant, as Sanctified Slayer's Studied Target and Sneak Attack bonuses stack up, along with the Inquisitor's Bane feature. Eventually I plan on procuring some claw blades and going down the TWF chain. Throw in Claw Pounce and it should be a fun time. All in all he'll be a very roguish sneak-and-stab Inquisitor.

Change: I'm going to keep most of this, but trade Umbral Stalker out for Ravener Hunter an Inquisitor archetype I just stumbled across that's super thematic for a catfolk. Can't resist fitting it in, even though it means altering my background a bit.

Chalkou |

Ok, all fixed up. Ravener Hunter replaces Domain with an Oracle Mystery (and makes a couple of other small changes). You only get two Revelations (one at 1st, one at 8th), but I think it's well worth it, especially since I was having a hard time finding a domain I liked. I went with the Battle Mystery, and took Surprising Charge for my first revelation. It's basically 1/day pounce (gaining an additional use at 7 and 15), but even once a day is better than no pounce.

Hey there, good to see you again!

Jack Callahan |

...oh dang it! I just realized inquisitors aren't proficient with saps... might think about taking something that deals non-lethal damage for those times when you need to knock 'em out, not kill them... are there any simple weapons that let you deal non-lethal damage that I'm missing?
Also, I had a brief read through a couple of the other profiles of the existing crew. I imagine Valai is a roamer, so any connection between her and Jack would be passing if she stops by Riddleport frequently... and if she stops at the Publican House for drinks.
I would say Jack would be willing to try and convince his boss to give Khav a job at his tavern, but I'm guessing she just arrived looking for work at the Gold Goblin first... unless she's stopped by and happened to mention he's looking for work, which would absolutely tug at Jack's heartstrings. Maybe he's going to the Gold Goblin to find Khav and tell her his boss is willing to give her a shot as a bouncer?
Nessa would probably know Jack best given the Shadowed Veil and the Publican House are pretty prominent temples in Riddleport... and I can see them have a very amusing relationship. Jack trying to be the big brother and keep her out of trouble, and Nessa deliberately causing problems just to drive him up the wall. (Heck, perhaps he's going to the Gold Goblin because he heard Nessa is going, and pretty much assumes any time she's more than 5 feet from the temple, she's gonna get into trouble).

Khavakra |

Here's what I am seeing so far (in no particular order):
Flayed - Half Orc Merciful Healer Cleric
Chalkou - Catfolk Ravener Hunter/Sanctified Slayer Inquisitor
Gabsen - Human Fighter
Jack Callahan - Human Inquisitor of Cayden Cailean
Interest:
Lazyclownfish plans a Shoanti Lunar Oracle
GM Mowque might submit a Stonelord Paladin
Cuàn might submit a Chirurgeon Alchemist or a Siegebreaker Fighter
I think that's all we've seen so far.
