Any GMs willing to run Legacy of Fire?

Recruitment

As the label on the tin asks, is there anyone that wants to run this amazing AP? They would surely make a certain girl happy by doing so! ^_^

I have not run anything via PbP before, but I am an experienced DM. Let me do a little looking into GMing via PbP and I will get back to you.

I want to say something encouraging, but I can not think of anything interesting.

I strongly recommend Painlord's and others' PbP guides, available in the Online Campaigns General Discussion subforum.

Dark Archive

MisterLurch, I recommend attempting to run something with a smaller scope, like a one shot module. Taking on an entire AP can become overwhelming if you are not aware of how much work it takes to run an AP via PbP. And running Legacy of Fire, there are some conversions you would have to perform since they were writen under the D&D 3.5 ruleset.

Of course, that would delay a certain girl's satisfaction, but better to do it right then to have the AP fall apart early on.

Ran it for my home game a while back (at the Dawn of Pathfinder so I had to convert everything). It's a cool story. Conversion is a non trivial task.

I would almost consider running it, but I already am running three games.

I think they might have at least some of the conversion over at the forum for the AP. I haven't checked (don't want spoilers), but I know someone did a 6player convertion for Kingmaker, so those forums are probably good for non-trivial tasks.

Mhmm. One shots like we be goblins are good places to cut your teeth on PBP.

Scarab Sages

Wow, I'd love it if someone ran Legacy of Fire!

Legacy of Fire or not, I would love the chance to help a new GM.

EDIT: A few other suggestion for wetting your feet. One is to run Dragons Demand. It is a module that takes players from level one to seven. Another is to try something episodic. One example is PFS, assuming that you are fine with maps. I am sure that you can find someone who is willing to report for you if needed.

He says he is an experienced GM. Let him run it is he wants to. He got over 4K posts on the board, so he is clearly not all that fresh. Sure running a PbP is quite a bit of work, but it also gives you a lot of time to figure out what to do next in between posts. For the record I would love to play in this if someone does pick it up.

Ugh, damn. All the APs I want to play in are hitting the boards all at once. I feel like I'd be doing myself a disservice if I didn't dot this thread. Even though it makes me feel dirty.

Bloody Pugwampis...

So after reading a few of the new GM advice threads on the boards, I would say that I think I can do the thing.

If some of you are willing to deal with someone new to GMing on the PbP, I am down to give it a try.

Scarab Sages

Woohoo! That would be fantastic! Thank you!

I'll start putting a character application together. What point buy, races, and other rules do you want to use for creation?

I am interested in a Legacy of Fire pbp. I have a character that was in Mummy's Mask that died a while ago and yet her backstory would fit quite well with this. So I hope she has a chance at playing.

If I remember correctly, Alayi was made with 20pb and starting 150 gold. Depending on the build specifics, should not be much to change. I hope.

Alright, there is enough interest that I will put together a proper recruiting thread tonight after work.

Silver Crusade

From someone who is trying their first PbP GM'ing by taking over a Legacy of Fire group that lost their GM during Impossible Eye, I can say that it has been very fun, but has at times also been very time consuming. I was a little surprised in the time investment involved to execute combat rounds. Just remember that an AP will be a marathon of multiple years, posting most everyday.

Solid GM tools, especially if integrated into a web browsers, would help PbP significantly.

Edit: I should also add that I have come to prefer PbP GM'ing over F2F GM'ing. You get a lot of time to decide next steps and think about the short and long-term effects of decisions.

Thanks for the feedback Justaworm. In my F2F experience I vastly prefer long running campaigns to one-shots or short adventures. Usually my F2F games have ended because of too many of the group moving away from each other and not being interested in playing via VTT.

Woohoo! Time to decide some things. I'd really enjoy making a Duskwalker of some kind. A ranger, possibly using the guide archetype. I'll keep my eyes peeled for your post.

Alright! As promised, the recruitment thread is here!

Wow I tried this for Wrath of Righteous and got nowhere.

Oh well, things happen....
