Those are not good things to combine, guys.
Watch out for drunken sharks!!
Don't drink when you're in the water, folks.
Looot of weather items, too, now that I think about it.

It looks like the regular version of the item but wait there's more! It also does stuff remarkably similar to the non-magical version.
I like my SupahStah items like I like my coffee... covered in beeees!
...this item has serious potential for abuse and should have had a usage limit or some other hard line that would prevent that abuse... and it's weird... but it's ballsy and wild and would make for crazy shenanigans... so have a vote, for now.

Okay, just saw a break-the-bank-item. And the price was merely one aspect of how 'huh?' it is.
Its much more boring opponent gets the upvote, but if ever there was a sample exercise in " 'safe-but-normally-downvoted-SIAC' versus 'unbound-by-any-sort-of-game-logic wackiness' " then this would be it.

and 150 votes, about 240 unique items and over 25 DQ submissions later, I'm done for the day... Night all!
Tsk, that's not a bonus type that exists in Pathfinder, Item.
Also, while your opponent does nothing I haven't seen done a lot before, it does do it with cool imagery. Props to you, Cool Imagery designer.
Still trying to figure out which item everyone need's an adult after seeing.... *mumble mumble*
And you, I can't help the feeling i've seen your name on a different kind of item before.
Over the top name. But it kind of works.

Many of these items remind me of my first couple RPG SS items. I had no one to check my work, I was new to design, and I while I did read Sean's advice I wasn't experienced enough to fully apply it.
If you are new and reading this thread, learn from your mistakes and try again next year if you don't go all the way. I was like you, and so were many of the others who made it to top 32 and beyond.
All that said: I keep seeing items that harm the user. Ouch.

I saw a lot of butterfly items today.
Not complaining. Just...noticing.
Uh huh, when x happens the TRUE POWER of the item is revealed, got it.

I know what someone has been watching on netflix.
Any item that makes me look up a word's definition has my begrudging respect.

Your item needs to have actual mechanical effects, not just flowery descriptions of its effects.
This is Pathfinder, not World of Darkness. :)

Huh. Wouldn't that have worked better if you just made it a wondrous item instead of a weapon? 'Cause, um... you clearly did not want it used as a weapon...

An item that contradicts itself three times. Now that is talent.

So, let's see. We've got lots of drinking, dancing, and gambling items. Lots of music and dance items. A fair number of nautical items.
I think this year's theme is Dockside Tavern.

Whelp, I've never seen an author literally ask a question about game mechanics before in the middle of an item description. That's new.
Don't forget the blood. Dockside Vampire Tavern? Riddleport Tavern?

An item apologized to me. Now I feel sorry for it.
Ack this item reminds me of Sacred Geometry. My head hurts.

This is apparently a very anxious bunch of magic items we're getting.
Oh neat. I had no idea you could invent a brand new type of slot for your wondrous item. Well played?
Oh god, my two favorite "gross monster body part" magic items forced to fight to the death! :(

pet peeve: weapons and armor should not have charges that accumulate through doing specific actions. I don't want that much book keeping. Maybe that is just me.
I keep getting the same small bunch of terrible items put up against various not terrible items. *Bangs head on wall slowly*

I'm seeing a lot of "This is full plate but without the penalties"-type stuff. I guess drunk vampire sailors don't like armor check penalties.
I saw the item that asks questions. I think the designer posted an outdated version of his submission. I understand this completely after juggling through so many iterations of my item. I am sorry for you, whoever you are.
I keep getting an item which references killing NPCs amongst its special abilities...
Wondrous item that requires another wondrous item to use :/

Wondrous twin items, activate!
Several items that change your shape and still provide their bonuses. Interesting meme.
Wow, the first items that have come entirely to formatting, as they were equally creative!
Too bad the one had absolutely no formatting.
Also, Magic Item of CAN DO EVERYTHING +1

Slot should be "none" rather than "-".
2 items that feel like I have already seen them before :-/
Seems like a lot of people are knowledgeable about how items should be priced. I have no idea how items should be priced, I just based my item's price off something the same level I found.
Edit: Ok, I have some idea, but I'm really bad at calculating it
