Well, the first year where I wasn't particularly nervous about whether or not I'd see my own item, and it shows up within the first dozen pair-ups.
And right after that, my first obvious joke item.
*Stares at item description*
Wh...wwwwwhhhy?
I mean, I'm not hating here. I just...I have no idea why this item would do that. It's like if I said, "This mandolin plays a beautiful tune that hypnotizes people, and also summons meteors!" Except that sounds awesome, whereas this is just...confusing.

*tips fedora*
"Aura: Faint Ebogartion"
Uh-huh. Sounds legitimate.
Aura school typoes have been changed to protect the innocent. But it was just as bad.
That description was redundant and repetitive.

second pair in and we have an artifact sighting.
You both hit 300 words exactly?! That's impressive

*tips fedora* Ah, okay. I must not be hanging with enough of the game community. It's been awhile since I've seen the phenomenon. Now I just hang with people who don't know a fedora from a trilby. Always have to give the Humphrey Bogart vs. Frank Sinatra explanation.

Two neat weapons facing against each other. The left won by a slight margin. Even if I never saw that kind of weapon in use.
Finally got the voting page to load, and I was asked to choose between a rod and Superstar winner Monica's Specter Blight. I guess the system is still catching up. I'll just try to take this as a good omen. :-P

Oh, hey, the item I just turned down is in the next match-up. Spooky.
Its opposing item has a paragraph of backstory and is almost identical to another item I saw in the way it's activated, but it's pretty cool. I have to admit, I dig the backstory, too, and it naturally suggests a couple encounters and adventures to me.
Boy, the competition sure is bloody this year.
I love it when an item is called a normal noun that is also the name of a monster. I can't give the actual word here just in case, but it's kind of like when I hear someone talking about their "retriever" and I don't immediately realize they're talking about a dog.
"My retriever got loose and really hurt the neighbors' cat!"
Buddy, you still have neighbors. I'd say you got off easy.
Form of sarcastic comment
Like the item. Hate the name.
Also, where's my bingo card? I'm pretty sure I'm close to bingo, and it's only been two hours.
*squints* Two items in competition where my gut reaction to each of them is "but there's already a wondrous item that does something pretty close to that."

Three times now I have had it immediately give me the exact same 2 items, just switching sides. I'm wondering if it's a bug, or a feature to catch bots. Just wish it wouldn't make me wait through the timer again before assuring it that my opinions haven't changed in the last few seconds.

Congratulations, your item was so boring that I had to vote for the joke item. Now I hate myself. Are you happy?
i don't think you can do what you just did, but I'm not sure so I won't submit you for DQ.
Neat idea but needs more work. Especially to iron out that (probably) unintended degree of overpoweredness...
First timer here. So, I guess I really should just shut up and vote.
But, I won't. I dig the idear of this thread and find most of it spot on. I have seen a couple posts that push the envelope as far as 1) Not being "mean", and 2) Not giving away what item you're talking about. More the latter though.
Then again, first timer, here. Don't mind me!
I have seen a couple posts that I think might be referring to my entry, but those all have happy endings, so it's doubtful that it is my item!
I am about to vote on my first pair right now, and I have to say, this might be as hard as the actual creating of items.
Insane, why would I want to do that item, vs. almost zero formatting, component missing, action scene detailing item. Yikes. I hate to vote equal on my first vote.

Charisma weapon vs Charisma weapon...
I thought martials were supposed to dump charisma?
I love when the first line of an item's description describes both the item itself and the item's key design flaw.
Ooh, this item is pretty cool. Too bad it's horribly written. If the author had gotten some feedback, this could potentially be a kickass entry.
And another "cool but weakly written" item. Actually, on second thought, maybe I should have voted for it anyways—I love the premise a lot, and it mostly works. But it's too late now.
This object is so gross but so cool. Shine on, you crazy, disgusting diamond.

I have now voted for the item on the left 7 times in a row.
Step it up, right side items!

This item was formatted and presented so sloppily, I'm guessing it was actually submitted on a greasy napkin.
Poorly-written joke item versus an item that rhymes in the first sentence and is otherwise really uninteresting. I'm going with the joke item.
And I'm starting to get the impression my item fell into this season's theme. Oops.
Welp. A really weak SiaC versus an item that has a huge backstory, and a price tag befitting that backstory, but with only one special ability: A small skill bonus. Almost entirely unrelated to the backstory. Okay.
Argh. Vanilla item hidden under elaborate backstory vs. item with horrible grasp of mechanics. This is indeed a conundrum.
I've only been able to get the webpage to load often enough to do a few votes, but I have to say, so far it's been a painful reminder of how dismal pre-cull voting can be. Several items have had basically no formatting at all. The cull can't come soon enough for me.

Specific weapon does not mean an item your character is using in a campaign you're playing in.
Also 299 word item, well done. I bet it was tough to shave it down.
This year is multiple mini culls every few days so it just keeps getting better and better
Ah, there it is: "attune." *marks bingo card*
Item of Fixing Things I Don't Like in the Game? Check. *marks card*
At this rate, I'll have the card blacked out before the day is out.
Two items I like that damn themselves with weird errors (one is utterly bizarre, but so unlikely to recur that I can't bring it up here).
Oh, hey. I expected some TF2 knockoffs, but I didn't expect anyone to try and imitate that item. Mad props.

The very first pairing I see, the first time I'm voting in RPGSS, and I get a joke item with a punny alliterative name.
I see Slayer fans are back at the designing board... time to play reign of blood on Guitar Hero III

Just saw the same pair of items three times in a row, but swapped sides. Unfortunately, I didn't really like either of them.
Paizo, please!
I can't stop reading the title of this thread as "Shark Powers activate"...
This one pasted in a spell description.
What is it with people calling it a "willpower" save?

Why yes, that was my favorite Mass Effect power...
I live by the adage "If it fits on your head, it's a hat".
So far, I wouldn't put anything I've seen that is intended to go in the Head slot on my head.

I believe that happens when the server is slow, and it wasn't able to register your vote the first time.
The words "steampunk-style" in a description.
A weapon that is literally just a weapon with normal enhancements and over a hundred words of backstory.

Two good items, but one is poorly formatted and has grammatical errors. *Sigh*

Bonus points for using Golarion deities.
But negative points for using the wrong one.
