My pet peeve is homophones. Easy mistake to make, but anyone else reading this could have pointed out your error.

Dedicated Voter Season 9

Item that force changes my name to something absurdly long beats out sci-fi wannabe that's surprisingly weak given the natural phenomenon it is supposed to be emulating.

Star Voter Season 6, Dedicated Voter Season 7, Dedicated Voter Season 9

Pathfinder does not make coins out of that metal.

Liberty's Edge

Another item whose name intrigued me and that lived up to my expectations (despite the unnecessary drawbacks). The crunch of the primary ability is exceptional IMO. Which makes it a Keep.

EDIT - If I had not upvoted it so fast :-(

Had to upvote an inferior item that follows the rules over one that will be disqualified for not doing so. I don't like that.

Interesting, no one else has mentioned a block of dragon themed items, but I've seen a number of them in a row. Am I the only one? A couple were actually pretty good, some were not. (If you're one of the creators, sorry to torture you with ambiguity.)

Marathon Voter Season 8, Dedicated Voter Season 9

I don't think I've reached Star Voter status yet, however I've noticed that there are more books, gloves, bracers, thieving, gore, blood, and joke items compared to Season 8. Personally, I expected more weapons and armor.

Your back story should not take up 1/3 of your text. It should not exist at all, ideally.

In season 8 weapons were the most popular since wondrous items were off the plate. Now they're back with a vengeance.

Paragraph breaks greatly aid readability. Shoot for 3 or 4 lines between breaks. 1 is too few, and 20 is too many.

Right. I completely forgot wondrous items were not allowed in the previous season.

Choker of the (insert animal name) versus Choker of the (insert animal name). Both cool items, but one seems under-priced and the other over-priced.

Look at it this way, with all the cleric-in-cans, rogue-in-cans, and the occasional wizard-in-cans a fighter could solo any Adventure Path!

:D

That's it! Next year I'm making a fighter-in-a-can! :P
Why not? Barbarians-in-a-can is a core item.

This must be what happens on the days when no player shows up to game. The GM opens a four-pack of adventurers to stop the BBEG/threat... and then opens a six-pack for himself/herself.

Dude, have you ever even committed murder with a filigreed blade? If you don't clean it immediately the blood gets dried in there and can be a b#%#! to get out. So inconvenient.

Hmm. Name in title does not match item name, but then the name in title shows up as a power of the item. Also only works for one specific person.

During the first year of voting it was horribly overused and not always correctly. I don't mind it now, but back in '13...

Every time I see a block of text, even a well written block of text, I'm tempted to just give it to the other guy who actually pressed enter a couple of times even though his entry has no grasp of the rules (both game and contest) and contains over 200 words of flowery fanfiction for his personal PC. I usually resist that temptation and just end up using the "you both suck" button unless that block of text really was the greatest thing ever conceived.

Don't do that, please.

The way the algorithm works, it needs to evaluate every possible pairing, as many times as it can. If you say the items tied, it's the same as not voting at all and someone else will have to vote on that exact same pairing.

People are really downvoting/voting "both are bad" for items that didn't double-space between paragraphs? The published book descriptions don't double-space, and neither does the submission template.

(And clicking "both are equally good/bad" just wastes your time, doing nothing to improve the rankings.)
