Dragolan takes his mace in a two-handed grip and follows Kalis, watching his back and ready to either attack or cast a cure as needed.


"Uh.. What is going on?"

Meraxes rushes along with the others. Perception:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

"I can't see."


Petry:

When you get to Aerys, you see that she is bleeding from the temple. Her breathing is shallow, but steady. As you roll her onto her back, you notice a small dart sticking out of her neck.

Kalis:

Your blade cuts down the small man instantly. He let's out a small cry before the breath leaves him. There is a singular yell of anger from the jungle to the west - it comes from many voices at the same pitch, at the same time. Moving closer to the trees, you spots three additional enemies hiding among the trees - one of which is directly in front of you. It slices at you with its blade as you approach.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
The blade catches you and slices into your arm. (Take 6 points of damage.)

What You See

Dragolan:

You see Kalis cut down the small man and then hear a singular yell of anger from the jungle to the west - it comes from many voices at the same pitch, at the same time.

Jasper:

You see Kalis strike down a small man and move quickly to your side. As he gets near you, you see a small man attack him with a bright blade.

The silence of the camp is interrupted a singular yell of anger from the jungle to the west - it comes from many voices at the same pitch, at the same time.

Running out of the tent, closely followed by Sasha and Marta, Allia sees Aerys lying face down on the ground with Petry kneeling over her. Sasha draws her two rapiers and moves to the jungle to help if possible.

Like a flash, Ishirou is out of the tent and standing by Dragolan, scanning the tree line for any sign of movement. "They are hiding. We must find and stop them," he says.

Jask and Gelik emerge from their tent - rubbing their eyes wearily. "What's the racket?" Gelik asks, annoyed. Seeing Aerys, Jask rushes over to aid Petry. Gelik, meanwhile, draws his bow and grabs an arrow, but not aiming quite yet.

Meraxes:

Coming out of your tent, your nearly run into Sasha, her blades drawn and a manic smile spread across her face. Looking straight in front of you, you see a small figure trying to hide in the foliage of the trees. It's a small, crooked man with a chipped blade and a crazed look on his face.

The small man rushes towards you and slices at you with his blade.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
You're able to dodge out of the way, avoiding all damage.

Ok - essentially that was round 1 of combat. You all are able to see some different things. Some of you - many of you - see less than others for the moment. Below is a link to what you all see. It is your turn.

Male Elf Barbarian 1 (Invulnerable Rager)

Kalis' song is interrupted for a moment as he grunts softly when the blade slices his arm. As he turns towards his attacker he swings his blade in a wide arc.

Standard Action:
ATTACK:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 (+2 BAB, +3 Str, +1 Trait, +1 MW, -1 Power Attack)
DAMAGE:1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 (+4 Str, +3 Power Attack)
Move Action: If the cannibal at K-3 is down, move to C-3 to engage that cannibal and possibly provide flanking.

"Woah!" Meraxes, at the last second, sees the scary man's attempt to strike him. He side-steps the nasty slash of the broken blade and scramble to get away from the savage man.

"Can't we talk about this first?" Meraxes gestures with his arms and a utters a few arcane syllables. Charm Person- DC18

Meraxes 5ft steps away so he doesn't have to cast defensively. (Or if this unwelcome guest is still in b5, Meraxes wouldn't have to do that and he'd just stay where he is.


Female Human Bard 1AC

AC: 11 (touch 11)

Bardic Perf: 7/8 - Spells left (1st): 2/2

Allia moves closer to Petry, so she's not too alone at the edge of camp in case they get attacked from there as well.

"Whatever those things are, don't let them seperate us from another!" she yells, before launching into an inspirational song to bolster the morale of her friends.

Move: To G8
Standard: Inspire Courage (+1 morale vs fear and charm, +1 competence on attack and damage rolls)

If the one at J 3 is down, Jasper will follow Kalis and hopefully attack whatever is over there. He is still hidden and moving stealthily so as to try and get jump on someone. If the one at J 3 is not down he will take a 5' step to J 4 and attack the man. 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 121d4 + 1 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 + (2) = 5

Seeing that Kalis is injured, Dragolan follows him around the side of the tent. He'll make it to F4, out of reach of where Kalis is heading but able to see more of what's going on. If there's anything in attack range, he'll take a swing at it.

To hit: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 1 = 12

Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7

"They're using darts, probably poisoned! I heard something in the trees to the north and south earlier! Call out where the enemy is!" Petry shouted to the others. He carefully removed the dart from Aerys' neck.

Petry turned to Jask, and asked, "Can you detect or counter the poison in her? And protect us from any more poisoned darts?"

Petrys future actions for everybody:

Turn Aerys over to Jask, join in the fighting (around E13 on the map). Bring Energy Ray to bear on the first intruder I see.


Round 2 Results
Kalis ends another small man's life with the sharp blade. He then moves to engage more.

Jasper follows closely behind Kalis, managing to remain unseen by the enemy. He swipes his dagger at the man, making him yelp in pain and bleed from a puncture wound in his side.

The man facing Meraxes attempts to fight off the effects of the spell.
Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12(+5 in-combat bonus)
The man's face falls and he looks almost calm. He says something in an indistinguishable language and then looks at Meraxes.

One of the men (Previously in A2) moves into flanking position to attack Kalis with his dirty, dinged blade.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
His attack misses the agile elf.

The other, flanking man waits until his partner is in position before striking at the Barbarian.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
This attack lands, cutting Kalis' upper-thigh. (Take 3 points of damage.)

Sasha holds her attack, waiting to see what Meraxes requests of the man. Jask tends to Aerys, assuring Petry that he has it under control. Ishirou rushes to join the fight. And Gelik steps forward to help heal if needed.

Seeing how most the action seem to happen to the north-west now, Allia moves closer to the ruckus, to see if she can help. As she rounds the corner of the tent and sees the attackers "Who are they?"

She swings her whip quickly at the nearest attacker, trying to trip him, but she still seems not quite awake yet, as the whip doesn't find it's target at all.

Standard: Trip vs C5 (unless that's the one Meraxes charmed, and it's obvious somehow) - 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Kalis sings his song through gritted teeth as another blade cuts him. He reverses his grip and thrusts his blade behind himself, hoping to impale the man who just cut him.

Meraxes breathes a sigh of relief as his spell takes effect.

He sees Sasha look for me for direction.

"As long as you don't strike him, he'll be our friend. Maybe he's another survivor of a shipwreck...............or something. He isn't a flying lizard and seems to be living. Maybe he knows where the captain is."

Since he doesn't understand what the man said, he'll charade and gesture for the man to hand over his sword.

Jasper moves to D1 and flanks with Kalis. Jasper stabs the man in the back while he is distracted by the large barbarian.

Dragolan pauses to see if Jasper takes down the man at C2, or if the man at C2 moves so that Dragolan can reach Kalis without suffering an AoO.

If so, he moves to C3 and casts cure light wounds on Kalis.

Cure: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

If not, he moves to D3 and attacks the man at C2.

To hit: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 1 = 20

Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 = 7


Kalis ends another man's life - the third in the past 30 seconds - with the sweep of his blade. Jasper manages to lodge his dagger deep into the man he's facing ribcage, withdrawing and nearly killing him. The man turns to run in fear, but is unable to make it even a step before being caught in the head by Dragolan. He falls to the ground in a crumpled heap.

The man facing Meraxes looks puzzled for a moment. He looks from Meraxes to his sword and slowly a smile creeps across his face as he nods. He throws the sword at Meraxes and awaits his response.
Thrown Short Sword: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The sword lands harmlessly at Meraxes' feet.

As Allia moved past Petry he saw how crowded the spacing between the tents had become. He also viewed, for the first time, the actual men attacking them. Island natives. Hostile ones. Petry thought to himself. So much for the hope of finding civilization here. Rather than join in the battle, Petry decided to look around to make sure there were no other natives sneaking up on them. He kept his right hand free, ready to point and release an Energy Ray if needed.

Perception check (with psicrystal): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

(We need more buffs! Something that would help more skill checks. Like Bless....Prayer...something.)

Nothing has changed since my previous post. There is one remaining enemy, who is currently charmed and weaponless.

Bless doesn't do that (although the morale bonus to hit stacks with Inspire Courage), and Dragolan doesn't get prayer for another few levels.

Dragolan casts the cure light wounds spell from above on Kalis. "Are there any more of them out there?"

Hey, you forgot my move to D7. Also there's Guidance.

Seeing as the wild human throws his sword at Meraxes, she again tries to trip him, however she stops singing, assuming her inspiration won't be needed for the last of them.

Trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Kalis' smile fades and he stops singing, suddenly he seems out of breath and slumped over slightly. He takes another look around and seeing Jasper takes a few steps closer to him. "Jasper.....you should sneak around.....the other side of camp.....see if any of them are waiting to attack us again.....Yell out if you need help.....I will move as quickly as I can."

Free Action: Stop rage. Earthquake just happened here and they are sending us all home, lol!

Yeah I felt it too. I'm only about 40 miles from the epicenter here in Virginia.

Jasper whispers back to Kalis You got it. Keep an ear out.

Jasper will then stealthily make a circuit of the camp moving around to the north first and then coming back around, looking for enemies.

(The earthquake at 1352 EDT? I'm in NC, and I felt it. We're not quite out of combat, so....)

Petry, not seeing any alive enemies, went to the native standing among the others, who was grinning and watching Meraxes. "That's a nice trick." he commented. "Let's see if he can talk."

"Can you understand me?" Petry asked the shorter native in Chelaxian Common. He then went though a litany of other languages.

"Խոսում եք իրական լեզուն." (Draconic - Do you speak the true tongue?)

"Sprechen Sie die Sprache des Volkes?" (Dwarven - Do you speak the language of the people?)

"Μπορείτε να μιλήσετε με τους πρώτους ανθρώπους;" (Elven - Can you talk with the First People?)

"Ξέρετε τη γλώσσα των συμβάσεων και ευκαιρίες;" (Infernal - Do you know the tongue of contracts and bargains?)

Petry watched the native's face to see if any of his words were recognized. He paid no attention to the looks on his friend's faces as he changed his words from rasping to guttural and then to lilting and finally to a harsh, deep-throated growl.

(Google Translate. Gotta love it for roleplay.)

Kalis silently eyes the rest of the group as he moves along the northern tent. He moves to the eastern tent and waits for Jasper to return.

Kalis moves to E-14.
I'm in southern Maryland, so it was still fairly strong here.

Meraxes gestures that Petry and the others are not threats. They are friends as well.
"F r i e n d s. No fight. F a m i l y. Yes?"

Meraxes comments to everyone else

"This one is a friendly one. Don't make any sudden movements or attack him though. We have an hour or so before he turns back into full-predator. "

Meraxes, remembering vaguely what the shiv looked like from memory from the maps tries to draw the outline of the shiv in the sand with the broken sword.

"Good. You have name? N a m e?"

"H o m e? You home?" He gestures to north part with his hands to roughly where our camp is. "There are probably others and it is wise to figure out where they live."


So...do you want to pretend that Allia didn't put him on his back with her whip? We can, if you'd like.


totally not! she posted first. I'm not sure if tripping cancels charm person, but maybe now that Allia knows he is charmed (ie: don't attack!) she might want to adjust her action this turn. If not, no big deal. Instead of directly asking the prisoner these questions I just tell the group in general we can figure out where more of them are.


Female Human Bard 1AC

Well, you said "Don't attack" and then the guy threw his sword at you. Since GMT rolled an attack, I assume it wasn't a harmless "drops the sword infront of you" thing. So she assumes he's still hostile, and knocked him down.
If that interpretation is wrong and it looked like he was surrendering, then I'm ok with retconning the trip, but if not it makes no sense really


Well maybe poorly mannered but not hostile! I'm not familiar with these manlike savages but maybe throwing swords is what you do with good friends.
