Long time ago, back in second or early third editions. I think it’s up to six now?
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
I have no idea, never played it. I just heard 'I GM' and started to drool...
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
Sounds good. The challenge will be recharging them. Anyone got applicable spells left over for charging before retiring for the night? Also, do you inform anyone that the king is dead?
I've been in the habit of having Gnasher charge first thing in the morning, though it wouldn't hurt to try and save one of his spells to charge at night.
Urah Pyr |
I'll spend 3 charges to recharge one charge each for the wands.
At least I'll keep the sorceror slots available.

Been burning through the bug and crash infested Wrath of the Righteous on my PS4.
Hadn’t ever considered it but after playing my main as a shaman, it’s a pretty cool class with a fascinating spell list and the hexes are nice to fall back on. Wandering spirit and hex make it nicely flexible.
My main went battle spirit, Legend mythic, and fighter to pad out the 20+ levels.
He’s a beast, especially when buffed (and greater enduring spell means my buffs last all day), stronger than a dragon. Fun stuff.
miteke |
I like it too, though it is slow to build up. With the armor and weapon restrictions it is hard to do combat, and the spells ramp up slowly. It get's nice when your wandering spirit comes along and your spells get more useful. And, if you choose well, the hexes always provide a go-to you can use in most situations. I think if I wanted to do a battle shaman one of the first things I'd do get heavy armor proficiency. Or take a level in fighter like you did. That was a good idea. I might do that with my shaman in a Tyrant's Grasp game.
Tarak Stromblessed |
Yeah, it is a slow build but early on (and hey even later because that’s how hexes roll) slumber or evil eye are so handy. Also misfortune.
I find it’s often very worth a single level dip in some type of fighter or just about any class that might actually fight. Proficiencies, bab and feat are all so nice and hard to replicate otherwise.

Oh?
I just got my hands on the CRPG Wrath of the Righteousness.
Just got out of the dungeons. Am rather miffed the combat between the dragon and demon lord was so quick and then I remind myself, that was probably 10 rounds.
Am trying out a dwarven Stonelord/Inquisitor.
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
Poor Gnasher is the one most hosed. While fatigued he is unable to rage...
Really? Thanks for pointing it out, I didn't really think it.
I feel like such a noob.
I'll get a post up for Gnasher here in a little bit. If we can't deal with the fatigue I'll have him sword and board it.
Ummm, he has a shield, but the only one handed weapon he has is the 'flind-bar' miteke has he been practicing enough with it to use it without negatives or should he pick up an axe from the loot?

Inquisitor is pretty strong, especially with some of the mythic stuff you can get.
Speaking of, make sure to keep a separate hard save towards the end of the Gray Garrison battle, you end up making a mythic choice that cannot be undone there, and if you want to try different paths (you do get to switch much later) you may want to avoid starting all over, like I had to when the Aeon quest line was bugged until this last patch on PS4

A fling-bar is an exotic weapon and requires a feat or some racial or class ability in order to use it. As soon as Gnasher gets the feat, he will have trained long enough to use it :)

Yeah, I know that is generally the guideline.
A while back I had asked.
hey miteke, would Gnasher know how to use the Flindbar? It's not on the bloodrager list, but he is a gnoll. So your call, either way he will keep it as a trophy. You responded:
So here when we talked about what the characters were doing for the year, he saidEven gnolls don't get to use the flindbar for free from what I can tell.
However, if you RP practicing with it a lot it might make its way into your bonus feats next level.
Maybe spend the year practicing with the flindbar just for fun.
But after that we really hadn't talked about it and it had slipped my mind to pursue it. But he's carried the weapon as his 'back up.' So I thought I would ask about it. I didn't know if the year 'off screen' had been enough to aquire use. Didn't think it would hurt to ask. If the answers 'no' that's fine, let me know if there is something he can do in game, or if he just needs to take the 'exotic' feat.
It's not a pressing matter since he's not fatigued any more.

Sorry about the delay in posts, I've been trying to wait for at least two different people to post after me before I post again. Then I got sidetracked binge watching 'Peaky Blinders' with my wife.
Urah Pyr |
Good show I guess?
Tarak Stromblessed |
I watched the first two seasons and really liked it.
Maybe if I ever get Netflix again I’ll watch the rest.
Lately we’ve been working through News Radio on prime, I miss 90’s sitcom humor.
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
I like it because it's historical fiction and enough action to be fun. It's a little darker than my wife usually watches. But I think with the story being set in the early 20th century makes it distant enough from reality that she doesn't mind it.
Tarak Stromblessed |
Working with the family today, posting will be light.
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
mmmm I try to wait until at least two people post after me before I start posting, but will go ahead and ask a question in game to see if we can keep moving.
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
Hey miteke, I didn't post it in game, but I had commented earlier that gnasher would have cast 'infernal healing' on the wand. Is it ok that we retcon he does that?
Tarak Stromblessed |
Would those slits be accessible by a Tiny flying creature or a small air elemental?
miteke |
Check out this guide
Tiny creatures are 1-2 f.t and would not fit through a space that it inches in size. And as far as air elementals go, oddly, it does not say that they have any compression or like ability.
An earth elemental has earth glide, though, which may be used to pass through worked stone as long as there is no wood paneling or draperies.
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
That occurred in the middle temple map right? They came from the north side of the area I thought.
huh, I thought the gnolls came from the doors to the south, but I'm not sure.
Malgrim Gryh |
I thought they were all running along the north wall when they came at you. But I was not paying a lot of attention to the map since I was being carried to and fro at the time.
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tarak Stromblessed |
Feeling very under the weather the last few days, won’t post tonight but hope to feel better and post tomorrow night.
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
Dude, take care of yourself! Worst thing that will happen here is Gnasher keeps opening doors.
Tarak Stromblessed |
Sorry, internet was down yesterday and my phone data is always very shaky where I live.
I'll be in the woods this weekend and likely won't be able to post much, maybe once at night when I get back. In fact the whole next week with the holiday my posting is going to be pretty spotty.
Apologies, my boring life got busy all the sudden :)
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
Lol, A homebody, I guess I fit the same description, my mom needs watched/cared for 100% of the time right now, and I don't feel right making my wife do it often. So I leave the house about once a week to get groceries.
On a separate note, I have agreed to GM a game here on the boards, it's my first time GMing since a 'Traverler's' game I ran back in college. Yeah, it was the 'black box.' So, a lot of my attention has been aimed at doing that well. In the meantime, I'm trying not to let my posting rate drop.
Urah Pyr |
Nice.
I wish you all the fun in gming a game.
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
"Such a bad attitude. 'm sooo misunderstood."
LOL, I have no idea how to respond to that.
It reminded me of how my two-year-old grandson talks. Instead of saying I'm going to, or I'm gonna he says "m'gonna" as in "M'gonna eat candy." or "M'gonna go outside."
I'm whipped, I'll get a post up in the morning, once we figure out how were going to kill him. I mean if he's half gnoll Gnasher gotta hate him a little right?
Tarak Stromblessed |
I wouldn't mind some day getting back into Gm'ing but I don't have anywhere close to enough time these days.
When I first started on the boards I would have had time, but years back when we played I mostly was the GM and really wanted to actually get a chance to play a character for once. That was over 6 years, a few campaigns and a lot of characters ago, so I probably would be ready to try it again.
If I had time.
Now the kids are of an age where they have activities, my wife and I have finally started to set some roots in the community and do stuff on our own as well, plus all the family stuff we love to do, so I barely have time to post in my measly couple campagins anymore.
Urah Pyr |
I have GMed.
2 incomplete APs and various other failed campaigns.
1 completed AP.
Many many PFS Scenarios.
2 completed Homebrews.
In fact I mostly GMed PFS Scenarios and stopped cause i wanted to be a player for a change. and Also because I was feeling slightly burned out from GMing.
Malgrim Gryh |
I have ran a number of campaigns to completion in different games, but the only AP I have ran completely was Giantslayer.
Urah Pyr |
Easy to get burned out, I suspect. What AP did you finish, by the way and how long did it take?
I have the first three books of Legacy of Fire but not the last three.
lol Rise of the Runelords. 2 years 2 months.
I'm more successful with face to face campaigns with Reign of Winter, Council of Thieves, Wrath of Righteous and Kingmaker.
Most of my other campaigns tend to burn out due either players dropping out or me tired of pushing a campaign.
miteke |
This is my first ever long term campaign and I was surprised that the first batch of players petered out so quickly, particularly when my audition was based on faithfulness.
It really is a team effort. If the GM eases off then the players loose interest and if the players stall the game it can get tedious quickly.
You all have been good players, keeping the momentum going.
'Gnasher' Red Claw |
From what I can tell momentum is key. The only AP I've finished (and that was as a player) was 'RoW' we went through the whole thing in eleven months. Started with the GM and four players, we had trouble keeping the fourth, replaced them three times but the others stuck to it.
Your right, it is a team effort, sadly is seems like the GM has to be willing to post almost twice as often or more to keep things moving.
Urah Pyr |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Yeah momentum is the key here. I'm enjoying this game with stellar posts from Gnasher and GM. It helps to keep the game moving
